The protest in Kenya has also shown similarities between the government of Kenya and Nigeria. No soul should be lost when citizens express their disagreement or question government policies. This has shown the disconnect between the government and the people

We Kenyans simply chose to rise above our tribes, languages,regions of origin,class and any other thing that we are aware of that politicians do use to divide us and got united...we realized that politicians unite in parliament against us and then come to us lying that a certain tribe is the problem... let's unite.... the enemy is not your immediate neighbor because of their tribe... the enemy is your local leadership that chooses to betray you in parliament once elected... they don't want to be accountable... There are many similarities. The difference is just that their protest started with the unreasonably imposed taxes on them by the government, while Nigeria's own started with the reason of SARS killings and brutality. Kenyans won by relentless and resilient force. They made the death of about 30 protesters not be in vain. Rest in peace to all that died in the cause of making lives better for them, their people and their country. Both in Nigeria, Kenya and other countries who fought for liberation and good governance. Woe on the presidents, politicians and government who wickedly and deliberately suffer their governed and citizens while they enjoy and put bastardize the economy on wasteful and unreasonably ostentatious lifestyle.

The only similarities between the protest in Kenya and Nigeria is that it involved the youths the reasons are completely different. The Endsar protest was directed towards police brutality as if affects the youths and nothing else that show that the protest was for the general well being of every Nigerian. The protest in Kenya was more inclusive of all Kenyans because it is based on an issue that affects everyone but the youths spearheaded the movement to kick against the bill. What has happened in Nigeria since after the endsars is an awareness by the smart to be part of the system by finding their ways into politics. Some youths are fully engaged in government in various levels now and in my opinion that is far better than just being an activist that takes only noise, complaining about what is wrongly only and not finding a way to be part makling the corrections. There are many of such activists in Nigeria that have traded their known profession for activism that is counter productive. Activism is good and encouraged when it serves its purpose and not being biased with hatred, this form activism is also common in Nigeria. Activism consists of efforts to promote, impede, direct or intervene in social, political, economic or environmental reform with the desire to make changes in society toward a perceived greater good. This should be the primary goal and objective of anyone that wishes to engage in activism. I have commented many times that to be an activist that is also interested in politics you must have an open mind to be able to differentiate good from bad and not be be biased and pessimistic. A clear example is what happened in the elections in Senegal few months ago. The youths leading the country today did not get to that position being destructive and arrogant about what was going on in the country, they had a strategy which worked for them. They fought the system which eventually turned around to support them because the demonstrated records of personal efforts. This is what the youths in Nigeria should emulate and not just holding protests that get you no where. If you want to be part of the system join the system so that you can make a difference based on your ideology ability and not just criticizing the system through social media, be productive and you will reap the benefit.

Kenya youths protest: That tax increase will increase cost of living. Nigeria youths: Remained complacent and unmoved when fuel subsidy were removed resulting to higher increase in cost of living and more poverty than Kenya. Insecurity and corruption is even more high in Nigeria. This really shows that Nigeria is one of the most peaceful and stable country in Africa.
@samchs222
@samchs222 2 күн бұрын
They are two different things like comparing apples and oranges. Nigeria was borrowing money to pay for subsidies. Money that you and generations to come must pay back. These kind of debts is what makes Nigeria not able to build wealth. For example, Nigerian government can not sell Dangote as much oil he needs which will make us less dependent on buying expensive finished oil products. Protesting removal of fuel subsidy does not make sense because you are ultimately blocking your chances of building wealth. Kenyans protesting paying more taxes is to prevent government making them to build wealth as government takes a Hugh percentage of taxes

Falz is just there to promote his art. He has removed himself entirely from the common Nigerian’s struggle. I think he doesn’t want to go against his Dad’s perceived bromance with the current head of the government.

How did he exactly sound like he was promoting his music? He spoke simple and plain English and he in no way sounded like he was supporting the current government or bromancing anyone. Did you actually listen to the interview or someone narrated it to you. If you actually did watch the whole thing yourself and still came up with this opinion then you had something not good in mind for Falz while watching it. Man spoke the truth and nothing but the truth. He clearly stated his displeasure with this government. Clean your mind and heart, then rewatch. ✌🏾 ✌🏾 ✌🏾

Noted. No comment. My opinion still stands. He decided to take a back seat and look at the positive side of Nigeria when we are at our worst state even. He can protest in 2020 when things were better but now, in 2024, more beggars on the street, he is looking for the positive. This is not a time to look for good things in the midst of multi-dimensional hunger and positive. I did not have soap in my eyes and ears when I watched it.

@@cenwaeze I get you but mind you, Falz is not a Nigerian youth leader. At least he made an attempt and history already has it that he stood up for the youths at some point in Nigeria when no other celebrity cared. Him, Mr Macaroni and DJ Switch can't be forgotten in a hurry for me. Why not call out the likes of Wizkid that almost spends 98% of his life in the UK and gives Zero fvcks about Nigeria? Or Burnaboy that specializes in making songs with the predicaments of Nigeria but gives no sh!t about Nigeria and Nigerians.... I can go on and on calling all of them that don't care who the next Nigerian youth that will go next is. So please let's accord some respect to whom is due. Finally, my point is Falz is a gem. Much respect to him. The guy can't kill himself for Nigerian youths especially the ones that still fought and voted the u$eless grannies we have in power today. Falz bụ Odogwu!

You people are getting everything wrong....we collected the MPs numbers and shared online so that everyone had their MPs contacts and pleaded with them to reject the finance bill... they refused to listen to the young people... they choose to obey Mr Ruto rather than to listen to the voters... on the day of the debate of the bill in Parliament we protested in Nairobi outside parliament but they choose to vote in favor of the bill... on the day of the demonstration the police were given a notice of the same and they gave us a permit for the demonstration...so actually...all the MPs were aware.... the security apparatus were aware... nobody can feign ignorance of what was going on... they only deliberately chose to do the wrong thing and give a blind eye to the right thing...excuse me Nigerians

Exactly why our politicians do not care about we the citizens. The Nigeria government relies on gullible citizens like you. Go and listen to Fela's song; Sorrow Tears and Blood. And also listen to Peter Tosh; Get Up,Stand Up. The way things are going now, if we the citizens do not stand up for our rights now. Nigeria will be in a terrible problem.

Oh. I thought you guys were praising Kenya to the heavens when they held their elections. Now the Kenyans are revolting against the same government, asking for the president to step down. Do Africans understand that democracy and good governance can be mutually exclusive. Besides, protesting about the increased taxes does not make the economic problem go away. The Kenyan people might have won the battle but they definitely haven't won the war.

We're dealing with the corrupt leaders and their enablers. We're demanding accountability. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

That’s why we want to win war. The protesting has been going on for weeks now. Right now we are dealing with institutions like churches coz that’s where corruption is boosted most by religious leader, no corrupt politician is allowed to speak and go to church, the military is supporting the citizens, the police are something else.. our constitution allows impeachment of the president or any elected leader, it doesn’t matter if they’re elected or a nominee. Right now we are working on our IEBC, who conduct elections as it needs to be competent then we start the recall of MPs... so we know the win is yet to come!!!
