I legitimately think songs like this are made for people that bottle everything up and need a song to let out a couple months worth of depression. When he said “It’s eating me alive”, I literally couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Souvenirs will forever haunt me. My childhood friend who killed himself started jamming it shortly before then, I can’t listen to the song without getting goosebumps. He was so pumped when I pulled the demo up on KZbin and we figured it out pretty quick. I wish he could have heard the later stuff, it just kept getting better. RIP Jimbo I miss you everyday brother.

I first listened to this when I was 19. I was feeling the first feelings of freedom nd I was so happy in life. I knew all the lyrics but never really knew the meaning. Now at almost 25 years old I'm here again and I decided to read the lyrics and I burst out crying. I've been going through on and off depression since 2020 and its so strange how you hear a song in differently and finally understand it when your life changes...

Something about this song just makes me feel so alive. Like I’m able to open my hypothetical wings and fly high like we’re all meant to. The power of the mind is amazing. The power of music bridges that gap for some that can’t connect to the mind. For that, thank you Novelists, for creating such a beautiful peace of art that I will listen to for years to come. Much love.

LYRICS I'm trying to survive these strange days, This life can be such an adventure. The world stands before my eyes wilder than it has ever been. I forgot these old memories of youth that were caught right under the surface, Forgot these souvenirs of you that were calling back the pain, I never felt happy somehow, But I'm trying, I'm trying the best I can. I really wanna feel happy sometimes, Really wanna know where the lights are, But it only feels so wrong. It's eating me alive. I never know how to shorten the distance Between my heart and my head, 'Cause through my eyes, the days are monochrome. I wanna feel the light of a new day, But I'm so scared of it all... I'm scared this utter joy ain't lasting forever. It's eating me alive. I never felt happy somehow, But I'm trying, I'm trying the best I can. I really wanna feel happy sometimes, Really wanna know where the lights are, But it only feels so wrong. It's eating me alive. I'm trying to survive my feelings. The joy is the ghost of a wanderer, Lost somewhere outside of here Counting every hour. Report a problem

how is it that Novelists releases such beautiful music, the entirety of Souvenirs is just gorgeous and then they release Noir, and they continue releasing music that is just able to conjure up emotions, this and 5:12 AM are some of the most emotional songs I have ever heard and they just seem to evoke a feeling that goes beyond enjoyment, listening to this song is similar to that moment right before you shed that single tear, but in a good way (felt the need to clarify that) TL;DR this song is just fucking beautiful and these guys deserve all the credit they get and everyone should listen to this

Really enjoying this album so far. Even thought some of it has more "hard rock/alternative metal/post-grunge" rather than a progressive metal feel. Especially the chorus of this song, so catchly. Seriously, when i listen to Mattéo's vocals i think of Theory of a Deadman, Three Days Grace, Staind, Seether, Five Finger Death Punch, Default, Revis, Crossfade, etc. Which is good to me because i always loved mainstream radio butt rock. PS: that saxophone and guitar solo make the song even more perfect.

All 3 of these albums are amazing. I showed my friend the demo shortly before he died and we were jamming delusions and souvenirs. The original recording of souvenirs haunts me when I listen to it. The first album I was blasting driving down I95 on my first big move. This album came out right b4 I enlisted and shipped out to bct. Then c’est la vie came out right before I moved across the country. Amazing albums that I still can’t get enough of to this day.
