PLEASE BE ADVISED. I'd like to make anyone reading this aware of something important here, as someone who has worked in resin and fibreglass workshops for the film and commercial industry for 6 years with fibreglass, resins and eurathanes - Yes they dont use trees at Artistides but it doesnt make it better for the environment and it definitely doesnt make it a better quality material than wood. The stuff they use comes out of plastic or metal drums as very harmful liquid chemicals which have to be disposed of professionally. You are being sold a quick-to-make and overpriced product on its flashy, edgy aesthetics. They are selling to you on looks not quality, function or purpose here. Its proven by how the main topic of this workshop tour seems to be the paint jobs and different finishes available and NOT the quality of the craftsmanship of the instruments. Looks over substance. But more importantly ON HEALTH : Notice how the guy 'building' the body in the first room he goes into was wearing a full on battery powered air filtration head mask and notice how your man, Pascal, doesnt touch any unfinished models without gloves? Thats bescause the materials and fumes given off from these processes are incredibly detrimental to health. No exceptions. ALL of those non natural materials used are Carcenogens (cause cancer). ALL of them. And the price tag on these is soooooo unbalanced to how much the engineering, labour and materials cost. Yea its a new fresh concept, but doesnt mean its better. If you like playing em then thats cool but just be advised when buying something thats made out of anything that requires that much extraction and protective gear to be worn when being made. NONE of it is recyclable or sustainable and if it snaps or breaks there aint an easy fix, plus snapping bits off will definitely release carcenogenic fumes or dust from the resins sealed under the paint job and lacquers. If you can, give your investment a second thought and look into another guitar brand that uses more sustainable and healthy methods and materials, cos you'll also be getting waaay more value for your money that way too. Thanks for reading, and sorry for calling you guys at Artistides guitars out, but I can't leave this unsaid.
@Justin-lx8xm4 жыл бұрын
So what are some alternatives?
@The2012jk4 жыл бұрын
@@Justin-lx8xm Wood bro, aint nothing wrong with what guitars have always been made out off, it doesnt release toxic stuff if it chips or snaps. It's easier to repair or but new body parts for rather than having to fork out for a whole new model, it has way more characteristics and tonal qualities/options than resins and fibres. You'd be getting _so_ much more for your money buying a real guitar than these things that just pop out of a mould only an hourly basis. You want a real guitar? Buy wood.
@vangoghsseveredear4 жыл бұрын
I get your point man, but I dont think playing them is going to give you cancer. They're all sealed. Snapping one? Maybe a small amount would be released, but im assuming snapping one would be fairly hard to do. In any industrial site you'll see people wearing respirators while working. The first guy was sanding, which releases airborne contaminants. The other guy was painting. Even woodworkers wear respirators. Im not saying you're wrong, cause idk wtf this stuff is made out of, but I'm pretty sure internationally they'd be banned if it was as dangerous to health as you say. But maybe you're right

This is something I think merits further investigation. The full life-cycle of cheap, midrange and expensive guitars made nowadays. The way a lot of 'tonewood' being harvested is 'illegally' obtained, destroying forests and local communities in the name of 'development', so most (mass-production) new guitars are not produced in a sustainable way. That alone could mean that the 'arium' these guitars are made of could be a better solution (for the moment) for many wanting to buy a new guitar. It depends on what it is made out of and what other alternatives exist to make guitars from. I've heard electric guitars made out of plywood that don't sound bad in certain contexts because they had proper pickups basically. If the 'arium' material lasts forever and cannot be broken down in any way, it might not be that much of a good alternative in the long run. If you want something 'traditional', go with maple or birch for example. That said, these guys have a good story, a nice looking production process that is very likely producing some great instruments that last you a lifetime. All things considered, they do it at a pretty reasonable price (guitarists are usually spoiled compared to other musicians).

@88_TROUBLE_884 жыл бұрын
Regarding EverTune™ & True Temperament® Both are mandatory for me too. Especially at this price and also I don't think I would even consider buying a guitar for over $1000 that isn't Plek'd™. At >$2500+ there ought to be very many more options for the bridges and pups. I'd prefer to have more control over the customization of the instrument that is priced slightly higher than you can get from an existing company that can be built from start to finish with your own personal options for yourself, prototype / 1-off type of instrument. I know of a luthier whom you can give a specs sheet and detailed design for your own style and the quality of the best materials to use and the instrument will be finished by the end of the year... And cost roughly the same as one of these higher end models! So if you're not picky about what you get for the price then these are beautiful and seemingly exquisite quality guitars that are worth the price... But if you want some input on the hardware and configuration of your own guitar you can just take your money to a local luthier and get a custom instrument that you don't have to worry about upgrading / changing the components of once you settle on a new guitar and I think you will be happier with the outcome of the build. >$2500 ~ $3500+ seems like a ludicrous price for a molded instrument and from what I can see, you're paying for the dazzling finish and prestigious branding, like so many other things that are marketed to the type of people who are more interested in the recognition associated with the brand than the overall craftsmanship of the product itself. For example, the price of a luxury car 🆚 a 1-off build from a shop is going to be 3 ~ 4× higher, allowing you to purchase a brand new '87 Buick GNX for the price of a 2019 Corvette ZR1
