An inside look at the legendary Fender Custom Shop factory with Eddie's Guitars

During the Spring of 2024, we had the opportunity to visit the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California. Our primary task was to spec out a few runs of custom guitars like the Eddie's Exclusive Strat and Tele run, as well as some one-off models and even a run of custom Jaguar basses. We started out in the ultra-nice Design Room that housed all the spec options, as well as some wicked cool builds on the walls.
During our visit, we got an informal tour of the facility that has produced so many legendary instruments. Did you know some of the machines in the shop have been around since day one? That means that the same exact machines are touching each and every custom shop build out there. Get a taste for what its like at such a legendary factory!

What a beautiful space, heaven must have areas like this. Love the bi colored neck as I want a bass with warm B&E and brighter A&D string areas. Like in a 50’s PJ bass. I have one with Jazz pick ups but I think any bass for recording has to have the P Bass pick ups like Sklar and his EMGs maybe a phantom Switch or two. Mine is blond, but I prefer the hardwood tones a little more.

Was that a fretless tele with a lacquered ebony or other open pore wood neck at 2:25?

If your referring to the black Tele with the fretless neck, it's actually a polished Aluminum fretboard on a maple neck! It felt super weird to play.
