This came right on time.i just lost my job of 25 years due to this corona virus mess. Luckily I was already preparing to leave but in about a year. Thankfully I already paid off my house and car. I believe this time will help my knowledge and spiritual skills evolve into something stronger and more detailed.We also have a birch tree.This discussion was right on time!

I find it interesting that "the big C" brought many people to new spiritual experience by kicking them out of their routines. For me it brought an injury (out of built-up anger) and a forced pause from working. Shortly after this I had a vision about the rune Ingwaz; I dug deeper and see some things in my life clearer now. Best wishes for you! 💚

I love watching your videos. As you say, it is your personal opinion on this as there is so much knowledge from a bygone era. I am Asatro and try to live then 😊 I have, like everyone from the Danish faith communities, the biggest here "Forn Siđr" and Asatro Collection also my beliefs about the various things like stories, myths, legends, damage / songs And a lot different interpretations of our Edda poems (the older Edda and the younger Edda) and personally did I think that the Vålven divination tells us something? We often debate our personal approach, attitude, beliefs, meaning, and interpretations about all that stuff. And there is something for every taste as we are all so different. Not like in Christianity where everyone has the 10 commandments etc. I personally have a shamanistic, animistic approach to my faith. Then you just got it with hehe but yeah I like your videos as its how you watch it and then I learn something new from a different view. And our faith is an eternal school approach hehe even though I am 34 years old today and started to believe in Nordic mythology when I was 16 years old even though I have read, heard, seen all that in all these years, I am still learning new things all over time and what I know and have learned are not necessarily "the right" but man where I love my faith and take pride in it 😊 I hope you are doing well ? And as we say in the Asatro here in Danish: År og fred (Year and Peace)😊🌈🍀

judging by some of the comments, I would say some people eat shit for breakfast. Arith stands for women's rights, clearly giving a critic against modern society and how little women are valued and making a critic to modern day neo paganism that continues to paint a denigrating image of women and the same old abrahamic ideas that women should stay at home. Arith is clearly demonstrating the value of women and that they are much more than "household tools", yet some "housewives" come here twisting his words and play the victims ffs. Now I understand why in the previous Q&A video Arith has been asked "why are wiccans little bitter bitches?" - thats why! Great video btw Arith, as always!

It really looks like the vision, what Jacob had about the Heavens Gate. Would it allow to gleam lost knowledge, such as the true names of the runes and other such knowledge, lost to time? OwO

Berkano is related to garderers?! :) I'm one. I hear you about the sexist religions, there are obvious examples. What are your thoughts on the traditionalist attitudes (pretty sexist in modern terms) of the reindeer herders of Siberia who are shamanic and animist? I recently watched Kate Humboldt for BBC visit them. Odd rules such as a woman can't step over things like a sleigh or pole, but men can, etc. Archaic cultural attribute or religious? Granted, they have N DNA, they're Asian with European admixture, not European.

As a stay at home mother & housewife, I sincerely hope that you understand that it takes all the self sacrifice, dedication, and devotion to others that you had just described regarding motherhood and tending the communal garden of ones community and surroudings. I do way more than all those tasks you descrived. I am the emotional caretaker of the home, which is something that really can’t be easily described or dismissed. You said something to the effect that you see woman as more than just housewives, as if being a housewife was a demeaning act, this truly upset me. It’s fine to see the potential of women to be more than that, but to describe the act with almost disdain, bothered me. All those boring menial tasks are done with love, self-sacrifce, and putting the needs of the group above my own. Additonally, stay at home mothers do way more things of value than just chores. I honestly hope that I’ve misunderstood you, because I have watched you for sometime now and generally enjoy your videos and value your insights. But this time, I could barely make it past the 14 minute marker......and maybe there is more that I missed, but I just had to click off. Sorry.

@idunnagerth47594 жыл бұрын
yes, you clearly missed the point there. Arith isn't saying that with disdain, he is making a critic to society and giving value to women in general, a value to their freedom, watch it till the end
@ArithHärger4 жыл бұрын
Hullo! How have you been? Well, I must honestly say that my intention wasn't, at all, to pass on a denigrating imagine on the work of housewives, on the contrary. As Simone Kaspy and Idunna Gerth in the comments below point out, it's a critic to society and to reinforce the importance of women's freedom, but it is also a critic to world-views within paganism, especially by certain new-age religions based on some aspects of a romanticized Germanic pagan past. There is often this idea that women should stay at home, whether they like it or not, and that's not freedom. A woman may like to be a housewife, and enjoy that, there's no problem in that whatsoever, but was it her choice? Did she really chose that life? Did she had the freedom to chose that life? Or was it simply a patriarchal idea and stay-home women do not actually have a choice and just slowly drift into that life and get used to it? Again, I'm not saying that the life of a housewife is something bad, on the contrary. But take a look at our society, it doesn't give value to housewives, and the work they do at home, and there isn't a monetary aid specificaly for women who chose to stay at home and take care of the house and children, yet society wants them at home, but doesn't give the proper value. You also see this in many neo-pagan communities and religious organizations - a bunch of men or "priests" giving a false value to housewives, when what they truly want is to bind their women at force them to stay behind closed doors as a form of control. It should be the woman to have the freedom to chose if she wants to stay at home or not, as it is the choice of a man as well. There's always work to do indoors or outdoors, but there isn't the freedom to chose and there isn't value to be given by our modern societies. Rest assure that when women are housewives, more often than not it's not their choice but they are force to do it (not saying it's your particular case). I appreciate your feedback, but what you wrote there was precisely the opposite of the message I tried to pass on, and maybe the fault is with me because I might not have expressed myself that well. Thank you.
@juni_pearl_95914 жыл бұрын
Arith Härger Thank you so very much for such a thoughtful reply!! I will most definitely watch to the end to see your complete message. I apologize for rushing to a conclusion and am admittedly a bit embarrassed. It is just something that I suppose is too near and dear to my own life and I may be overly sensitive about and I let that shape my reaction rather then listening to all you had to say (SORRY!!). .............. Your point about it being expected of women, yet looked down upon for its lack of financial earning, is exactly why I get defensive. It is because people sometimes look at me and say, “oh, that’s all you do?” As if running a household isn’t actual work, lol. I find it interesting that people seem to be more satisfied with my quick interjection that I also do part time work on EBay re-selling handbags and accessories. It always amuses me because that job is simple compared to the myriad of tasks that being a full time mother and housewife requires (accountant, handy woman, nurse, therapist, nutritionist, cook, etc....). However, I am very grateful for my choice in the matter. I got married and started a family children in my early 30’s so I had plenty of time to explore the world traveling and achieving many personal, educational, and career goals. My husband is completely supportive of my decision and we work together as a team to make sure our family is successful. I do know of what you are referring to in the Neo-pagan community though. I have see this sorta “alpha male,” mentality abound at times. I can see where they could view woman as chatel and attempt to deny them governance over their own lives under the guise of “it’s your role as a woman.”. However, I will say that I personally know a lot of women who also chose to be housewifes and several who aren’t but wish they could be. Again, the issue is personal choice.

I enjoy your video's Arith and usually agree but your tone when describing the duties of a housewife bothered me a little.....it's one of the most important jobs anyone can do in society,who tends the next generation,moulds them to a great extent..... having raised my eldest son on my own I have a small insight into that role and believe me if I hadn't had help I wouldn't have coped as many women do , without help...... nothing wrong with women on an equal footing with men,it's as it should be, and CERTAINLY nothing wrong with being a housewife it's a job that requires complete commitment (sadly lacking these days)and unbelievable strength as well as sacrifice.... interesting vid anyway👍

Hello there, how are you? If you allow me, let me copy paste 2 replies I've given concerning this: " (...) well, I must honestly say that my intention wasn't, at all, to pass on a denigrating imagine on the work of housewives, on the contrary. Thank you." "(...) the problem here is that in the rune poems this rune was never ever related to the figure of the housewife and/or her work, nor related to the same old pattern of the man in the field and the woman in house, which not only is a feudalist construction but also an abrahamic religious idea that men must work and women must serve. This idea isn't real in a germanic pagan past in any way, not historically, not archaeologically speaking, and neither in the rune poems. This idea was transported to the rune by Wicca (which was in great great part a "paganization" of christian values and morals) and then transported into Odinism and later into Ásatrú, reinforcing the same social-religious structure of men at work and women must serve. You can easily see this by the study of the rune poems, none of them talk about housewives, so that is simply a modern interpretation, trying to create parallels between our modernday world views with world views of the past, or in other words, reinventing the past and transforming it into the mirror image of the present. Besides, the runes, in my opinion, are meant to help in personal evolution and growth, so we can't simply cling on to obsolete ideas that only work for past-perceptions and past world-views. We live in the now, not in the past, so we need to adapt to the new realities we live in, in order to survive, wouldn't you agree? Thank you."
