From this native born arizonan, get a long handled net bro! I lost some monsters because I couldn't get them up. Personal best was actually a flathead I caught under the bridge at 48th Street and just a block north of Indian school in Arcadia. Also, favorite spot is 58th street on the same canal. There's two waterfalls that you can Walk under and on either side there's a fence. No fishing above the fence but stand on the west side the fence and across the other side. Both sides are good. Huge Asian amor carp too! Those things are like hooking up with a bull! That flathead was 38# by the way. And I have fished the Colorado near Yuma and the gila river right by it and killed it regularly. Big bluegills and carp for bait. Tight lines My friend.

New subscriber here. Great Video... Hey that dark colored cat u got was a Blue Catfish. That's why it was so dark and had that flathead looking head to it. At first i thought it was a flathead but then i googled Blue Catfish...

Blue catfish that are dark under the chin are usually males!

I never get any luck fishing fresh water. This looks fun. I would go lighter rod and reel if it’s fun you are looking for and not food. Something like a 9’ 12-30lb rod and a 5000 size reel would be super fun. But liking this AZ fishing thing.

I cannot find secluded fishing spots like this by the canals anywhere
@forwardobserver7251 Жыл бұрын
Notice this an unlined canal not concrete lined. Theyre more common outside metro area. Idk this spot but if you look at canal maps and where they go once they hit edge of metro area you’re likely to find them. Hunt around online for maps& info on the various “irrigation districts” in maricopa& pinal county. Maybe this helps you

Unfortunately catfish are high on the mercury charts. You should check and see where they are. Fish and game should have their levels. But catfish are great fighting fish.
