I like them very much. 2 at a time is my favorite thing to do. I also have a pair just like them from many years ago that come apart and can be used as Escrima sticks. like when Danny Inosanto and Bruce lee in the movie Game of death in 2000. you are correct by using string instead of using chan. silence is always the advantage. try using wax where the string touches the wood or metal.
