The problem with the scythe is that it has no range because the blade is at a 90° angle. If you put the blade straight out or at a 45° angle, you would have more range and be more effective.

Im not ttying to hate bug thats not a stance or grip. Awkward positioning to get the blade to mimic a guard used with a sword is pointless if you cant parry or riposte. It does nothing defensively either as the balance is so bad that you virtually have no lateral control. Easy to knock the blade away for an opening of a second or even more which is an eternity in combat. Then the off hand grip is so obviously poor. Taco grip!?. A strong blow will make your hand slip off for an even longer and bigger opening. You stepped into ur target while you cocked back for a swing. Not good. Easy peasy counter easily. Youd have no answer if countered. You step in during your attack so its not telegraphed. Lastly, you swing it like a sword. Its not that. Edge is on the inside of the arch. U swing meaning the material will catch, not slash. You secured the object to the post and still almost knocked it off during ur cut. That translates to a bad cut and possible damage to the blade if you struck something harder. Just use it like a scythe. Thats how the blade was designed. @ one thing you could do is add a protruding grip roughly a 1/4 down the handle from the blade. Its a common feature, so much so that its more rare to have a scythe without that design feature than it is to have it. Do that and it will solve most of ur issues. Drop the concept of a sword wpn and slashing and adopt the idea of it being a pole-arm and hooking. Lastly, there is a ton of source material for scythe combat. Mostly illustrations. After all, this is the most popular pleb wpd from its time. Study and practice 3-4 finesses (moves) and youll go from awkward to scary in no time.

@alexward1003 my scythe blade is a 200 year old blade and originally came with a newer aluminum pole with wooden handles for cutting grass. I got my blade from baryonyx who wrote the book on scythes, I only did this concept for testing and I didn't like it so I re assembled into a more linear mount. I enjoy trying all concepts and collecting unique blades
