Arizona Native but now living in Wisconsin, Everyone that lives in Arizona must travel to Sedona and Slide Rock Park...it is heavy tourism but worth the trip. Eric, next time you travel to Slide Rock, along the highway driving in Oak creek canyon to get there, off the side of the road is a pull out that has a active water spout that ONLY pours natural spring water from between the rocks and is the BEST pure drinking water you can taste in Arizona, I have pulled over that pull out may times when camping in the mountains to fill up jugs of fresh spring water!!!

My first time to Slide Rock Park was in 1965. It was not as developed with park rangers etc. back then. My parents rented a cabin near slide rock for a long weekend. So much fun. A few years ago, like in the 1990s my wife and our kids went to slide rock and I actually dove off those cliffs you first showed. I had to make sure to come up very steeply so I wouldn’t bang into the other side. Gosh, you’re bringing back so may good memories for me.😅

Tig looks to be a great addition to your family. I’m a full time wheelchair user and have a mobility Service Dog. Service dogs go through 2 to 3 years of initial training. And, then they get continual/refresher training as a working Service Dog is never truly done training. The first thing my Service Dog’s trainer told me was to never use one of the leashes on a real, because it teaches the dog to pull. They learn that if they pull they get to go further and then start pulling all the time. They had me get a standard 6 foot flat leash for normal leash training, and a 25 to 30 foot standard flat leash used to train retrievers for when we were working where she still needed to be on a leash, but further away. My current go to leash is a standard 4 foot flat leash. But, I do still use the 6 foot and 30 foot leashes depending on what we’re doing. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.

Neighbor. You're killing me. The first time I went down SR 89A into Oak Creek Canyon from Flag was in 1964 or 65. I was four or five. There used to be a lot of campgrounds along Oak Creek, but you saw how steep it is getting down to the creek. My family took a few more camping trips there while I was young. I remember having to get out and help push the station wagon and trailer back up the steep road to the highway once back then as well. Slide Rock used to be a sort of secret and certainly did not cause as much traffic and was free. Ahh, the good ole days. Welcome to Arizona!

Best not to walk barefoot in rapidly flowing rivers and streams because it's really easy to break your neck and drown. The safest way to navigate your way around those slippery rocks is with a pair of felt bottomed shoes that are specifically made for fishermen who wade into these types of waters.

Going to add Slide Rock State Park to our "Destinations" list. We have a similar setup as yours for a home base. We purchased a two acre lot a few months back and have our Motorhome parked on it. It previously had a double wide mobile home on it, so it has city water, electric, and a septic system that we are in the process of connecting our Motorhome to. The double wide sat on a 25 x45 foot concrete slab and we purchased a 16 x 40' storage shed that we sat on the slab. It's a nice set up to enjoy my 2A rights on also. Hope to be in your area Winter of 24/25 and maybe we can meet up someplace. Tigg is growing fast!!

What A GORGEOUS spot!! We were in Sedona a few years ago and were awestruck by the views. Unfortunately, we arrived during spring break and it was swamped!! We basically drove through town, turned around and drove back out. lol! We did find a lovely spot on BLM land outside of town and spent a week there. We awoke one morning to hot air balloons floating over head and it was spectacular!!! Hope to return when it is less busy (if that ever happens! lol!) That burger has now got me craving!! Prayers for your vehicle troubles!

I love Oak Creek canyon! We haven't been up there lately because of road construction, I was surprised you were able to get through. Just an FYI, Sedona usually requires a Red Rock Pass to park anywhere in the Sedona area, including Oak Creek. It's a hefty fine if you don't have a pass, which is available in specific stores or forest service offices

I live here and I'm glad everybody is making videos and bringing people in mass to the last few places of beauty that are left in this country but now the tourism is so horrible I feel like I'm in a line at Disneyland!!! I can't even drive through there without trying not to run over people because they just walk around the road like it's a parking lot, there are so many people it's insane! Just so you're aware before you come here there's no where to park the stream is absolutely overrun with so many people that there's no beauty anymore all you see is massive crouds of people that set up canopies ON THE ACTUAL STREAM, like its freaking Daytona Beach!! iIts awful! Being a native I can't believe what ppl have done to our tiny place and I hate what its become. Let's not even mention the mass exodus of Californians coming here and buying up what little amount of real estate we have left for our loved locals to live and work here, so they can turn all the family homes into Air BNBs so they can make a few extra dollars. Nothing against you bro, u seem like a nice guy, I'm just so saddened by the whole thing, I know I'm not alone. Please everyone, please have respect for locals AND each other.

While you don't have full power hookups, you should get a normal farm style generator for your homestead. You can box them in (as long as the box has vents) and they're much quieter than RV generators. A big one would easily power two RVs.
