True, as a single player survivor I enjoy the game most of the times. Anytime my game crashes and it resets 15-20 mins of work or more in the world is a big nuisance though. Especially when we all tend to lower our settings as is to try and prevent this from being an issue.

@appledoesgaming7303 agreed, half the time my guys looking like glorps of goo. Black grain goin thru everything even with the grain filter off. Ran a few caves on abb last week. The red and green caves. The green was quick and easy. The red took me awhile to find and navigate. I manage to find it and head home. Do some more things after I put the artifacts in their pedestals. Then log off. Log back in a day or so later. Both artifacts gone, and my chem suit armor Mia. Each piece was over 200.0 armor. So in short I had to refarm tens of thousands of crystal, gems and gas balls just to be able to get back to the red cave. I rage quit for a couple days on that one.

I don’t know. My computer isn’t the greatest and I get 60+ fps as an average. I have an Intel 12400F CPU, 4070 Super GPU and 32 GBs of ram. I have all my graphics on Epic, I do have bloom, shafts and low light enhancement off. I didn’t run any commands to turn anything off in game.

Their idea of optimizing the game seems to be forcing frame generation and turning DLSS on by default. This game needs MAJOR performance improvements seeing as the 4090 struggled at times and the 4090 Super being sold as a 5090 doesn't fix any issues. There's definitely people who don't play because of performance reasons.

WC and Steam making it possible to create private servers with your own PC literally saved the game for us. As young working adults that were starting our own families, my buddies and I didn't have the time to get on often enough to justify paying for a Nitrado server (especially not those outrageous prices). Gatekeeping with pillars and foundations to control where others can build ruined official servers. And the tether distance in non-dedicated/single player was absolutely unbearable. Now, I've got my own personal cluster running with two maps (more to be added soon), we can all hop on whenever we want, even at different times of day depending on our schedules, and we can roam around the entire map at once if we so desire. Best thing ever. Game is still buggy as ever, but FREE private servers at least made the game somewhat playable again. And we can all play at our own pace, with full control over the settings, mods, etc.

​@@Minos_PrimeTheSoulSurvivor It's a dedicated server. You need a PC set to run the server, first and foremost. Ark servers take a lot of RAM and it's not feasible for most PCs to both host and play on a server. Beyond that, the setup process is on the wiki.

I’m Xbox and it’s gotten so bad. I get lucky to be able to play on the island and that’s it go to any other map crash every time sometimes we load the map up there crash before the game starts.

Arks problem isn't breeding. The problem is overall optimization is utter trash. Memory Leakage is as bad as the Titanic! There is absolutely no reason after this long, that the game should crash over and over and over again just trying to make a new character on a new server. WHY is that still a thing? WHY is it we are still having a Time OUT error when logging in, making us have to log in 2 times sometimes 10 times before we can full get into the server. Also WHEN are we going to end the exclusivity contract with Nitrado?!! I want to host on my GPortal now please. I am SICK of Nitrados terrible servers and disgusting customer service.

I love this game, I’ve been playing since, well, about 10 years now, and I am committed to NOT spending another penny until I can play the game with confidence, that I’m Not going to DC and lose all my stuff , that I’m not goin to pick a fight with a Dino but DC and I get eaten and my tames get eaten, or if I fly near a persons base that plays on computer I DC because my console can’t load in their base! I've taken to hitting ESC and clicking SAVE GAME after I do Anything of note so I don't lose progress. This was a thing back in the old days of gaming but not in 2025. I don't need the nostalgia from the 80s.

@GreenfaceONE that's not exactly the problem I'm having. I'll get disconnected all the way to the Xbox dashboard then when I try to load back in it won't. It'll kick me back to the dashboard. Over and over and over. Only way the map will start up again is if I delete the save file and restart.

More optimization will be great but we all remember the s**t show Rag was upon release on ASE. I expect the same this go around as well. I want to be optimistic and all that good stuff but I'm a long time Ark player from the early days of ASE and WC is well known for all the let downs. It's so sad because this game has SOOO much potential if it were in the right hands.

@ Items, dinos, and structures will disappear and reappear at 50 50 on the map. It's random. The cluster that I'm on has a mod that removes all the stuff that's "collected" by it daily so if it takes anything, it's lost. Also items have a decay timer so it's lost by itself.

You know my biggest problem with the game right now? The mesh raiding! Got meshed 2 times in 2 days, my tribe lost probs 100,000 tames and we have lost dedis and dedis of resources, the Devs aren't interested and only threaten us with the ban hammer if we go in to defend. Welcome to the mesh wars 2.0 because the only way to combat mesh is to mesh too

As frustrating things are people should stop being toxic in their official discord and start motivating these devs and be as positive as you can whilst voicing your opinion. I hate seeing “ devs are s***, devs are useless” etc etc They’re human too imagine going work and someone telling you that you’re bad at your job… We need to stay positive and motivate the devs and enjoy their game 🫶

As someone that dabbles in programming, I understand that the job isn't always easy and straight forward. However, they are fairly shit at their job. But I don't entirely blame the devs. I think a large part of the issues stem from upper management/snail games. From what I can tell they just aren't giving the team enough time to actually figure out the meshing issues and many of the other bugs that plague the game. Especially recently where they've been more interested in fixing non game breaking exploits/bugs (looking at you corrupted wyvern fire) than fixing say battle rigs which are paid content

Don't need any testing to tell you its the hamster spinning a wheel they have for servers. They performed better in 2016 with basically the same game, now almost 10 years years later we have regressed. 100 player center servers, pvp, everyone fighting. 10 years ago. Now we got 70 player PVE servers with no one fighting and the servers stroking out on us 24/7.

But that's not on wild card. Servers are the responsibility of nitrado unless you play unofficial and use a home PC for hosting. But I still agree that many of the issues are on nitrado at least when playing on servers. I'm actually convinced that it's largely desync being an issue. The other side of the problem imo is on hardware. Too many people are playing on hardware that's nearly a decade old. Cpus for sure are going to struggle and GPUs won't perform much better. If they haven't upgraded to 32gig of ram memory is going to be an issue too. Consoles aren't any different in that department. They are meant as a budget gaming option, but you can build a decent computer that has better specs for the same $500 price tag. Just have to shop around for good deals. The last issue is the game is still in early access. Most of the time devs don't release early access games on console for this reason. They don't perform well without optimization for console play.

The problem with ASA is the fact that they haven't shut down ASE yet by the removal multiplayer completely leaving as a single player mode only will give people no choice but to move to ASA or a different game.

Question, are most issues because people don't have a computer that can run the game. Most issues, until the mesh issue on Extinction have been with mods. I play with family membbers that don't have a good enough computer and they have issues that are often mentioned here. Will the optimization help with this?

I doubt very much they can untangle the mess that the ark project is. I imagine its so messy and intertwined that they are hesitant to make large changes because it will break many other things. The performance update isn't going to suddenly give good performance.

Thanks for the info Dom. So I’ve been playing ragnarok only problem I’m having is i can not train a Dinos except passive tames. I have even reset all settings still nothing. I’ve spoke with many ppl and no one has an answer. Ive found one other person having this issue still nothing to fix it. But hey that what FORCE TAME is for i guess. My buddy and i just started to try out the center map and now i have “ rubber banding “ issues he steps into water 3 feet from me he gets pulled to me and game freeze where its so close to dash boarding at least every 5 mins or so. Not playing that map any more. We are getting ready to try Ascended wish me luck over there.

thier problem with server side is theyre using network settings from when UE4 first came out, ive made changes to these settings and tested them out on my own servers i run and its a night and day difference for clients performance with these network changes

As a old school gamer on a sega mega drive moving to sega saturn then PS when i first launched mainly because it was the only console with a huge game library at the time ! Thank you for the support as a console player with all the crashing and having to do things on repeat is most annoying ! Losing hours or progress is not a good vibe at all ! Premium mods not working on my nitrado server and I can't figure out why they're not or how to make them usable ? Optimisation and the ability for the game to actually save as you are playing it would be optimum of course ? Though I doubt the game makers/developers, as it seems they have been lying from the start about the new ARK being written from new code ? The code is dodgey and seems far too familiar to me ? I love the game as a concept it is awesome but it just does not measure up in it ability to perform without crashing or glitching in some way or another ! Abberation, when I play with my buddies the tether distance has been fixed a bit and no black screen when going down into the red zone for RockDrakes which is nice but hopefully unreal 5.5 will fix these issues and with all other maps it's all caves need to be fixed too lol😅 but great game indeed so amazing

the big problem is 50% of the ark team is fixing stuff because pvp players cannot play the game without cheating pve players play the game for what it is they don't need to cheat i really wish pvp and pve was a separate game than the team could fix the problems with the game and not the constant ways pvp players find a way to cheat i have played this game from 2015 and that has been a problem with the game from the start

I play just single player on my own PC and have lost so many corpses to the map monster. Im farming tributes and the body clips out of existence. I die and my body clips under the map. Very tedious and thats not even talking about the constantly flickering shadows no matter what i set to. Game is so poorly optimized its insane

Seriously, if this doesn't fix a lot of these major issues and they don't slow down to fix a lot of these major issues. This game isn't worth the stress and i'm going to uninstall. You'd think there was some kind of legal binding contract between giving somebody money and them promising a product. And everybody says these people want more money, but these a**Hats act like they're oblivious of the torture that they put regular people through daily. The last 2 days alone on the brand new featured map.I couldn't get off of the map.Because the terminals don't want to spawn. On top of half the spawn of dinosaurs being under the mesh.

Wildcards focus will not be to make it more stable it won't even be to make the maps seperate dowloads for your console. Their main focus of 5.5 will be to test how bad ark 2 will be running on 5.5 and being on this generation

Even if the performance is better it will still not stop every update introducing game breaking bugs. Also the game will still have horrible pay to win mechanics.

Being a wile since iv stopped playing ark Asa. If they just fix the console game. Just get rid of the bloody bugs man! On console their are game crashes and if your tamining a max level Dino and your getting 70+ levels for example and the game crashes, you boot the game back up the Dino your looses all of its levels. And that’s bloody frustrating man. I’m just fed up with the bugs and just can’t bring myself to play it anymore enough is enough!

Most fps get away from flames especially Phönixes shadow and blur ark also runs mostly 60 fps or 70 for me but is normal for today's games GTA6 will also run at max 60 on pc unreal engine will not help believe the future will be au generated fps to make games so color happy and so ditalized will always be a problem soon

I lost everything in singleplayer from a crash, all my months of work gone in an instant. My center save pretty much wiped every structure, every tamed dino everything ive done gone besides the damn way points. The map just completely reseted. They have to fix this game, they need to cause seriously how can a game have such a game breaking bug on singleplayer?..im on ps5 by the way Can you please alet them to this?😊
