Fun fact the andrewsarchus was named so as a tribute to explorer who discovered the first fossil of it. Roy Chapman Andrews whom discovered the skull in Mongolia. Currently paleontologist believe that it was a distant relative to hippos, pigs, and whales. Personally I find the idea of it being a fluffy hippo funny.

If you dont find any cliffs around the andrew you are trying to tame, you can jump out before the red bar reaches the limit, run some meters away from the andrew, throw the honey again, and repeat the taming process.

think allot of newer players dont understand drop from hot bar vs inventory. put a single honey on your hotbar and just select that key to drop it, for example putting it on your zero slot and just press the key to drop. dont drop it from the inventory, that is to drop it for other players mainly, if its in the typical wrapped brown paper wrap then its not from your hotbar.

Its because we're used to consuming items on the hotbar and honey is a consumable. Got me too lol

It's also a decent tame for under water. It's oxygen doesn't deplete too quickly, you don't have to worry about oxygen while you're in the turret and the bullets still fire under water.

You can also walk on the ocean floor. Its the closest thing to a submarine in the game aside from the Megachelon.

@@Shinygati I don't think it would be. It was designed for months to do all of the things it can do. All of the powerful features of the Andrewsarchus are intended to be there. The only thing I imagine they'd nerf is the slow af oxygen drain. I haven't tested how long they can last underwater, but it is clearly an extremely long time.

If you jump off on purpose while taming before the red bar gets maxed out and it throws you off, you can usually avoid getting Aggro and get right back on it with another honey. It saves using all the grapples.

Yes! It’s so complicated and grueling. Messing around in creative, it seems like the harvesting Health (times you would need to hit it to harvest something, I don’t know if that’s the right term) determines the affinity but I’m not sure. Rock elemental works perfectly (super efficient, thanks Raasclark) but then alphas and titanos don’t work at all. All of them have high harvest health. Babies and tames also work, but not much better than wild dinos. It’s so annoying.

If you're going to tame one of these, then you are going to Fjordor. On your way there, pick up a Quetzal. Quetzals can carry them. Take it over to Helm's Deep. It makes a wonderful taming pen. Hope this helps.

If you crouch it will not agro when farther away you can walk all up to it also jump off before the agro hits full so it don't attack you

Getting a max effectiveness tame is a pain with this minigame. Only been able to do it for a lower level so far. You also need to be lucky with the RNG. Sometimes starts for example left, changes to right and then left in very quick succession and itll kick you off in like 5 seconds. Very frustrating.

You don’t want to. You would need a very high damage saddle with a lot of advanced rifle bullets to kill the bosses. Bosses such as the brood mother and the dragon have 1 million Health or greater add alpha difficulty. The Megapithicus is doable. That is why you need heavy damage dealers such as Rexes or therizinos against the dragon.
