The biggest building trick in Ark, allways make twice as many building materials as you need because something will go wrong garunteed.

this is why there should be an ability to DIG in Ark, Digging is the basic essential when it comes to building especially in uneven terrains

Not really the game should just auto generate appropriate supports under placed foundation where appropriate, and double stack foundation if it's a severe drop

@MrGamerman001
@MrGamerman001 5 жыл бұрын
The only reason I can think of for them not changing it is that the code for the pillars is welded hardcore into just about every peaceable object in the game. In other words, they aren't fixing it because they're lazy and don't want to re work the entire building system, which really needs updated anyway.

Why not just build with stone pillars and thatch ceilings then replace the thatch with stone and you don't get the bump sticking up out of the ceiling tile.

When you first build a pillar and try to place a thatch foundation on top it has two snap points if you use the upper one it will let you have a flat surface when you replace it with stone or metal.

Pillars and ceilings are a great solution! I did see another video where instead of using foundations to cover the gaps, they placed fence foundations beneath the walls, which allows the wall you place on top of them to jut up into the above wall since you can't clip into the ground.

The lowering foundations method. I refuse to have pillar nubs and always prefer a solid foundation to a ceiling even without pillar nubs. Plus I have a base on a slightly uneven plane, so this should be a huge help.
@TimmyCarbine
@TimmyCarbine 8 жыл бұрын
+Ephemis Priest I agree, pillar nubs are terrible. Glad to hear you gained something from the vid.
@BlackSabbath1989
@BlackSabbath1989 8 жыл бұрын
if it is just slightly uneven, i would go all out on pillars, let them snap to each other and when you layed out the pillar foundation. start with the ceiling on top and covering the sides. using foundations seems like a trap that is going to bother you in the last corner
@shadiestone2949
@shadiestone2949 8 жыл бұрын
+TimmyCarbine Gaming you can actually have no pillar nubs. you snap the pillar halfway through ceiling, then snap another underneath; there is two snap points when putting second pillar on. when you put the halfway through pillar and are looking at it, bring out the second pillar and the first attach point is nub, look down slowly until second pillar move slightly. place second pillar then remove halfway through pillar. once removed, no pillar nub. I got this tip from an ark KZbinr named; nooblets

Thank you man,just started playing ark and was so frustrated that i couldnt place stone foundations on pillars,but i get it now that i have to use cellings
@davenadeau8671
@davenadeau8671 4 жыл бұрын
when you start doing cielings because your foundation doesn't snap anymore because of the hill going down, you are not supposed to put your pillar first. You put your cieling first, then add a pillar midway through that cieling, then when you go to snap a pillar under that cieling, you will have to play with it but you will have 2 options to snap your pillar under that cieling that you will attach to the first pillar you've made. once your have it snapped on the lower point option, you win, you can then destroy the first midway pillar you put first and you're done. no more pillars showing up trough the cielings.
@davenadeau8671

oh and, the first pillar you will put down midawy through, use a wooden pillar, since you will destroy it after.

Building in ark is finnicky. I do see why if you rotate a wall it becomes off centered. Why?? I cant think of a time that would ever be useful. So all my walls line up except that one that kept snapping to something random and id rather have my wall facing the wrong way then being pushed out or inward making the wall look even worse. May I please add an option or second way of dealing with this... its starts the same laying pillars until the hill stops you.. but rather then wasting time going out floors and adding pillars.. Place a set of stairs on both sides of your furthest foundation..
@BTBGamingChannel
@BTBGamingChannel 3 жыл бұрын
So then if you use foundations until you can, then add a set of stairs and it gives you a lower snap point.. you can do this down the whole hill your building on.. you will then beable to run a ceiling ,!from the the last foundation, all the way to where you ended you stair and foundations

Awww that really sucks! I know quite a few people had issues transitioning The Center Map from Mod to Official. A friend of mine who runs a server had issues too, but luckily since it was an actual server he had save files that was able to recover everything from right before the map went official. Solo play I don't even think has a real save function like that so it would be hard to recover. Sorry you lost everything! But I am glad to hear that you will be returning and rebuilding the ship. At least you know how to rebuild and have a reference for it too. Look forward to seeing more!
