Building in ARK has some hackers' taste. You have to literally exploit the snap points to get on.
@leviticusyeeticus98958 жыл бұрын
On the Center map, my tribe and I build a platform base on top of the water in the lake with the two opposite peninsulas (forgive me I don't know what the common names for locations are most of the time). Of course, we needed a way to transport larger dinos to our base of the water, so we built a bridge. The pillar nubs were annoying as first, and then we discovered a use for them. When we're about to be raided, we put bear traps in the nubs, because they're hidden, and it traps them in an open spot on the bridge, where we've placed turrets looking down the bridge, as well as sniper windows.

This is the video I got to know your channel and what made me stop building "boxes". I haven't ever built 3x3 boxes but anyway my houses looked pretty boring. I was looking for tipps on youtube and immediately found this video and fell in love with it. My creative side woke up and now I'm so in love with building in Ark. (Even though I am complaining all the time how much I hate it, haha.)
@TimmyCarbine8 жыл бұрын
+Zoa Live Haha that's great, Jenny. This was the first video that really made my channel grow. I'm glad it helped you expand your creativity. Haha maybe you learnt your complaining from my videos as well 😉
@zoalive8 жыл бұрын
Actually you should ask the one I started playing Ark with about how I was complaining. He could tell you stories :-P Back then I just built "boring" houses with lots of ladders. Once I tried building a Dodo pen with fence foundations and walls... You wouldn´t wanna know what I shouted at my computer xD I just have to try the "pillars without poking through" technique again. The last time I tried I couldn´t get it right even though I got that second snap point.
@TimmyCarbine8 жыл бұрын
+Zoa Live Haha I've raged many times at Ark building. I've found the "pillars without poking through" technique doesn't always work, sometimes it still falls even if you do it correctly.
@glorthoron37917 жыл бұрын
Not sure if this is already covered in the comments, but a tip on the walls at the start: if you stand close to where you want to place the wall and then look at the floor that would be the inside floor, you don't have to destroy the outside floor.
@luiscossio2967 жыл бұрын
You don't need to remove the foundation to rotate the wall. Use your map button to switch between snap points.

Wow, great video! Very well edited, narrated, and explained! Thanks for the tips, particularly with the pillars.....though I wish I would have found this before I started building my bridge across the swamp.....soooo many stone ceiling tiles... To hide the poke through, I built a lower layer to hide them and then a clean upper set of ceiling tiles so basically twice the work. Oh well, I'm almost done now. Nothing left but to finish it the way I started. But this will help with future building!

Hey bud, for corner pillars, do they have to snap to another ceiling/foundation on the floor, or is there a way to make it work if the bottom of the pillar is just going straight into the dirt? Am trying to make it work but seems to just destroy the pillar when you lose the ceiling.
@TimmyCarbine8 жыл бұрын
+The Beard Guys Sometimes they do that if the pillar don't go far enough into the dirt. Try placing another pillar into the dirt. I've never tried it into another ceiling or foundation, it may work
@TheBeardGuys8 жыл бұрын
Thanks the reply, yea it seems a bit hit and miss. At one stage it would hold up if I: Placed the corner ceiling and the corner pillars, then snapped another single pillar to the ground next to the base of the corner pillars, and then deleted the ceiling. If I then demolished the single extra pillar it would wipe out the whole stack of corner pillars. This game...the further I delve into the world of snapping and building and Ark the more weird it gets.

+The Beard Guys Thank you, I only play on PC. All the techniques should work on Xbox but I have never tested it. Honestly, I think you would enjoy it on PC a little more, there are more options, slightly easier controls and such (I hope this doesn't start a PC vs Xbox war). If you enjoyed this one, I recommend my ARKitect Series. Each episode I have tried to build something I wouldn't normally build and learn heaps of new ways to build things. Thanks for your comment, have fun building =)

+TimmyCarbine Gaming Well I'm not of a console gamer these days, plus our channel is mostly focussed on console gaming too so we tend to stick with that. I do have a few mates who play PC though so would like to check it out sometime. I'll have a peruse through the Series you recommended soon. To be fair to the console version of Ark, they are doing a good job of keeping it a lot closer to the PC version in terms of options available to you than a lot of games. We just got console commands in the last update, so it's really just the ease of control with keyboard, the modding scene and the graphics that give PC the edge at the mo. Take a look at our Ark vids if you fancy it pal.

It breaks EVERY TIME when I try to do it on an official crystal isles server. I put the center of a pillar there, build the pillar all the way down to the ground, I even removed foundation on the outside to make sure it's touching the ground, and when I remove the ceiling, it breaks... I can't figure out why. I've redone it 10+ times and it just breaks, it's definitely touching the ground, idk what I'm doing wrong. Will it always do that near water?? WHY DOES GOD HATE ME D: Edit: I got it working after destroying the walls until they were 1 wall high, doing it from there, and then building pillars up. It was SO GLITCHED. Also I couldn't replace a wood pillar with a stone pillar or it would break, I had to do it with stone where I wanted, but building up with wood worked.
