Please pin this Dom so people see it:) Here’s what to expect from the ue5.5 upgrade based on what I know about the changes that ue5.4/5.5 brings. Smoother, and less choppy frame rates, especially on single/non dedicated servers (ue5.4+ increases cpu performance by an average of ~40%) An overall increase in fps, by about 10-15% on average ( this is also because ue5.4+ increases cpu performance by a lot, as well as gpu performance in most cases. ue5.4+ makes it easier to fix small issues, like the floating grass and pebbles across all of the maps (this is the least likely change to happen, but it would be nice to see in the future maps at least) And finally, ue5.5 introduces something called “Mega Lights,” and it gives major improvements to performance in scenes where there’s lots of light sources, which should work best on Aberration, because of all the light sources that Aberration has.

The old version of Ark had almost 500 GB of disk space. So I think that the new one (ascendent) would take up about 1.5 TB in total disk space.

@@Jessepigman69 At first, ARK took up 120GB. However, when I downloaded the main story maps and the extended ones, the game already took up 350 GB, then 450 GB and kept increasing until 520 GB. That's how long the original game takes. However, I also tested a pirated copy and it turned out to be smaller, 400GB - I wonder why?

I host my own server on my hardware aswell but i dont have it for public use since i dont have public ip and port forwarding is difficult to setup as it has to be done on provider in my case. We connect it through Radmin VPN and it works like a charm.

That is the thing. As far as i know WildCard actually never said that Ark 2 will release at the end of 2024. That information comes from roadmap that was separately released by Snail Games and is different than one made by WildCard about a year ago. WildCard have stopped mentioning Ark 2 about the same time they released that roadmap and it is Snail Games who still have that roadmap and 2024 Ark 2 release date on their website.

Honestly, ASA really doesn't look all that much better than ASE. I'm running a 4080S at 4k resolution and the best fps I'm getting at medium/high settings is 110, with horrible spikes and some areas only rendering at 40fps (some areas in the underground forest area on Exctinction). At the end of the day, I think I prefer ASE. It was relatively polished, optimized, and looked just fine with MUCH, MUCH less bugs, glitches, and excellent mod compatibility.

Been having a great time on your server donated and helped out alot of people without asking for anything just enjoing the experience. But then today i put up dino gates around my base the put foundations inside the gates to spaw dinos from spawning there. Had a guy hover over my base all day and say nothing i get off for a few minutes to talk my wife got back on and my entire base and all my resources were wipped by a mod so i will no longer be playing. He said it was because of the spam and tried to tell me the foundations weren't inside my gates. Which the 100% were. Even if they werent it wouldnt have been anything for me to pick up 20 foundations. My base was in the middle of my dino leash and aa terminal with acs running and giga eggs in the roof when it was removed. Then he refused to let me speak to someone else and provoked me to the point where he had a reason to kick me from the discord

Its generally accepted that ue5 is presenting performance issues across the board, games just arent running well on it as they did before (Speculation) I believe unreal engine and epic are data mining end users and devs, i suspect this is affecting backend processing, i will say, i also dont know this is the case and i openly admit i dint know how to identify this as im not a software engineer, im taking an honest punt and guessing this to be the case, a lot of internet services are prioritising monetisation of data and this is what is causing my scepticism

Every time there is an update, the game downloads the update, then patches the whole game. The process is fast due to the game being on a nvme. I don't understand the creators complaints. The only problem that I see is that WildCard keeps releasing more broken DLCs and have to make a lot of patches to try and fix them.

It makes sense to do this. Firstly, 3 months per dlc isn't a long time and certainly not enough for their team to find every bug/glitch on every platform. Secondly, if you watch the concurrent player count it often drops off 1 to 1 1/2 months after a dlc drop then picks picks back up when a new map drops. People want content. If all they did was release the island and only did bug patches till it was perfect we wouldn't even have scorched earth rn and the game would be dead

That comes down to each person's system. Obviously for console users that's less ideal, but for PC it's not a large issue. Let's also keep in mind wild card has an owner now. So they don't get to self regulate. They have to bend the knee and that's likely part of why they are "rushing" out this dlc. It's also an early access game. There are going to be bugs and performance issues. Now hopefully ue5.5 will help resolve many of the performance related issues, but it can only do so much

It still needs a bit of fleshing out. so the move to 5.5 has me a little worried. the only positive i can see is the lighting that's about it.

My own pc was too crappy to run ase, i got geforce now a year ago and i play maxed settings 4k on it. I have fiberglass 2gb/sec ethernet and it runs without issues. I crash about once a week, downside is new members o ly get 100hrs a month. For me its still unlimited till 01-01-2026. But it runs flawless and its an absolute stunning game

I think they have changed something in the engine in the last patch, because all my installed mods required updating despite the mods themselves not releasing new versions. Let's hope if they ever do the engine update that it actually makes the game at the very least stable and more consistent, because it is still a shit show on console, especially single player.

There are a lot of QoL improvements and as mentioned Bob Tall Tales added some more and it helps a lot. Like new bio-grinder. You can setup automatic resource farm by breeding on top and hatching below and you get all the mats + kibble based on what you have breeding on top.

@@Raven777777777777777 yup. With the tribe tower (imo they need to drop the tick rate down to 8 or 12 hours, needing 30 days of run time is too much). It becomes a resource monster. And with survivor mate it can be fully automated. Though, I find you need to put a layer of ceilings a quarter wall high over the grinder parts or dinos tend to mesh into it over time resulting in a bunch of adult/dead dinos cluttering it up.

Nitrado server on the island. We have several people who all stopped gaining xp at various levels and one new player who is still gaining levels. Anyone has any ideas why this is or what could be done. Im the server admin and havent adjusted any xp settings and the single mod istalled is strictly to improve performance for us on xbox. You gain levels really slowly after 100. if you haven't gotten all the notes or completed any boss fights you will not progress past level 105. That could he the issue you're having.

@Manguatz1703 I appreciate the response however I did mention we all stopped gaining xp at various levels and the numbe of XP hasn't changed since I've killed alphas on foot with a shotgun and there's no increase by any number. My character is stuck at 95, another is at 94, 93 87, 78 none of us have hit 100 let alone 105 and I've defeated the broodmother on beta and gamma and still no XP gaining whatsoever. A new player on the server who started a new character is leveling up just fine. All existing characters are gaining nothin

I have a great PC, and truth be told, ASA really doesn't look all that much better than ASE. After playing ASA and looking back at ASE, honestly, I think ASE was just as good without requiring a monster PC and MUCH MUCH less buggy!

Until the ASE players switch to ASA, some will probably have to update their hardware. I think the requirements are still a big hurdle for a switch. ASA itself is doing a great job in my opinion. Wish you all a good 2025

Frankly, it shouldn't be that big of a hurdle except for PC players as those requirements are a bit pricey, but even now a $500 PC should be able to run it just not at high+ graphics. Consoles have their own issues when it comes to running asa, but it's still playable for the most part. The biggest issue I've seen is the server count, but that's because nitrado has exclusive server hosting rights for a few more years

I know someone who still play on Nvidia 1060 and i dont think it is a big stretch to say a lot of people have similarly old hardware and not just on GPU side.

@@jamestaylor9887 Nitrado hosting exclusivity should have never happened. Atleast DRM is disabled for now. I host my own ASA dedicated server on my old hardware and we connect it through Radmin VPN so we dont have to worry about port forwarding and public ip. Works like a charm most of the time. So much better than Nitrado servers.

Yall i downloaded ark and its not as broken as everyone says it is its only subjective to specific people and devices aswell as i found out u can only have one save on any map on single player which is crazy and to think how easy it wiuld be to acidentally override it
