I'm extremely skeptical that unreal 5.5 is coming by March, unless it's a paid update. I could be off on the date, but I believe in October 2024, WildCard said that unreal 5.4 was already done and coming in November 2024. They gave some stupid analogy about a cake factory then it was never released. Now it's unreal 5.5, and I'm waiting to hear their stupid analogy about a hotdog stand next.

They never said that it was ready in October 2024, and the reason for them delaying it until March 2025 is probably to make sure that the game doesn’t have more issues than it did before the update, as well as applying the upgrades to visuals that ue5.4/ue5.5 has

@@akathenugget I could have sworn that, it was done and they were just working out the bugs before releasing it (according to WildCard).They talk about a new cake factory (unreal 5.4) already built but didn't want to close down their old cake factory (unreal 5.2) until all the bugs were worked out.

ue5.4+ gives ~20% boost to cpu performance, which ASA on consoles is very cpu limited when playing in a single/non dedicated server. It also gives devs easy ways to map the grass and pebble placements to the ground, rather than there being floating rocks and grass lol

I don't think updating to more recent graphics is a good idea. As a proud Xbox owner, I speak for us console players. The game can barely run Aberration and Extinction, I need to download a PREFORMENCE TO EVEN PLAY SCORCHED EARTH AND THE CENTER, and my game likes to corrupt my saves every other month. it's getting to a point were I HAVE to play on ASE for Ab and Extinction. Instead of making the graphics better and making the game run like trash and basically unplayable, fix your game Wildcard. Thank you for reading my rant about how ASA is bad.

The ue5.5 upgrade isn’t for better graphics, it’s to improve performance, and it will probably work best in solo/non dedicated servers, because ue5.4+ mostly improves cpu performance by a lot, as well as overall performance tho

I’m not even looking forward to any of the new maps because I can’t even log into the one they just released I get black screen and then timed out. I’ve looked 1 million places for fixes and the only thing I’ve seen that might maybe work is having someone else kill me in the game, but the problem is I can’t load into the game to be killed. This should not be an issue still after all these years.

@@golden_sniper384 the visuals part of my comment is mostly because ue5.4+ gives you tools to map the grass and pebbles to the ground mesh, rather than having to place them 1 by 1, which you’ve probably seen the floating grass and pebbles on all of the maps, and it takes away from how great the game looks

Will they fix the sunken forest Dino's spawning in the mesh ...they fixed ase 1 by making it seperate that's why you use to have that pause so everything would render properly and not drop the wild Dino's through the floor

I do wonder to what extent the upgrade will actually help console performance, cause I feel insane having to use a performance mod for the game to be somewhat stable at 60. If it really does help a lot I’m going to be very very happy, though I expect to still have to use some commands as ark seems very unoptimized at an internal level just like how evolved was. Still excited for the update and potentially the first full snow map is immensely exciting with lost colony.

There’s a lot of games running at a native resolution lower than ASA in their 60 fps modes. WildCard should definitely make a 30 fps mode with even frame pacing for consoles

The bigger lore issue is they changed that mei yin and diana were never together but that it was diana and santiago. Second is the homodeus helena where bobs said he met her while helena was still alive which makes me think that btt and regular asa is 2 different timelines. Because the old notes are still there telling about mei yin and diana but yet meeka claims diana is her mother. But the fact the dlc is called bobs "Tall" Tales and the next is bobs "True" tales tells me everything bob said was bs so theres only three possibilities. 2 Timelines Bobs stories are a lie Or santiago is not meekas father

What about FSR 3x? What about Vulkan.api? Which was promised for ASE back 2019 and we never got it. I’ll believe this when I see it. Wildcard actually able deliver on promise features/Updates/upgrade? Lolololol. Unless they actually working with epic games. I have zero faith they/wildcard devs are skilled enough to upgrade to UE 5.5. Consider they lied so many time for 5.4 upgrade and current game I swear is running UE 5.1. Not 5.2. Thus why they trying quickly upgrade. Cus they fucked up on the port of ASE to UE 5.x. And they know it. But won’t publicly admit it. And that why the game runs horrible even on 4090s.

ue5.4 and ue5.5 are almost identical in terms of upgrading to them, so that’s why they’re going to ue5.5, because it also brings some smaller performance boosts on top of ue5.4
