@@NOOBLETSjust ark being ark. I would lose the 30 feathers and sometimes and have to go out and get them back. Not sure why. But more times than not I kept the 30 because the trap protected me so I worked out because of that.

@@manuelpe78someone has put out a hexagonal trap that seems to lessen the chance that the YiLing will lose interest.

One trick I learned from other trap builders is the always use ceilings on top of a single foundation for quick tear down and pickup of a trap. As long as all structures connect to the ground through just a single pillar or foundation, this is a small improvement but quite handy when you are on a server.

you're right about WC's approach to traps. IMO it's that they're nicking ideas from Burgesssss' Immersive Taming mod. He had the whole package all set up for fun taming. The mod just needed difficulty settings increased and some more tweaks / development. WC should have bought that mod and integrated it about 5 years ago.

Yer wildcard started the Cage yourself taming with the rhyniognatha, but it flew off in the end. I spent 2 weeks trying to do cages and traps for that to try to keep it for other tames.

It might be slightly improved by filling in the area beneath it with walls so it never gets stuck down there. But still, fantastic job! I love how even when the community finds almost the perfect trap, you’re still committed to finding improvements to it.

Some people saying you stole Mystic's ideas for the trap. However, the trap designs themselves are nothing new. Anyone could've came up with it, especially many of those traps have been used for over a decade at this point. But the idea of using them as "Reverse traps" to get the Yi ling to dive bomb into the doors is something that I've only seen Mystic showcase on KZbin before anyone else can. But I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Coincidences do happen, after all. Plus, this isn't like some "Grand" discovery that warrants credit. It seems you and Mystic, as well as many other like-minded people, all had the same, simple idea. And you were probably testing different ways to tame the Yi ling at the same time Mystic was, and she so happens to upload first. So there is nothing wrong, I think, you did here. Anyway, whether it be from you or Mystic, I really appreciate these methods you provide. Keep doing what you do.

I positive 1000's of people have come up with the 2x2 design by themselves. Infact im sure that MOST Ark players who are asked to create a Yi Ling trap would come up with this design by themselves. Only the people that think this is a copy, are too dumb to work out a 2x2 trap themselves. lol

Ive been using reverse traps for years, cause they use less materials than traps that encase the target. And I can't be the only one. (its a great way to tame the ravager you want when its still in its pack. you can kill the unwanted ones while safely inside and then dart the good ravager that's left and bola it when its close to running.) Mystic is certainly not the originator of the idea.

I’m about 100 hrs into my abb play through and have been putting off taming one of these. I finally found one high enough level (120). It’s perched high above on a wall near my base, which I just noticed happens to be right around the corner from where you are on the map in this video. So I’m making my trap in virtually the exact same spot and will be taming it there. Only thing that is a pain in the ass is all the herbivores spawning around needing to be cleared out so they don’t draw its aggro.

I found 145 and try taming it but, never did dive attack. I was at 100 feathers and never dive attack. Also, broke 2 armor sets. Is there a way to fix this?

OMG thank you! I've tried the trap on the ground or out in the open and every time it would never do the divebomb. I'd have 100 feathers in me and it would land and run up to me every time.

TiiaAurora addressed the issues of why the YiLing loses interest in the square traps. Basically, after the YiLing misses you a few times, it loses interest and flies away. The round trap keeps you in it’s sightline more, so it sticks around. If it hits you the first time, it hits you every time. She even put up a math problem showing the difference.

Any kind of trap that protects you from getting hit works, that's not the problem. The problem on official is the horrible render distance when servers are more populated. The Yi ling just fly's out of the short render distance constantly. Also from the horrible desync, the Yi ling's animations and mechanic just get broken often. I'm all for Wildcard making other taming methods but they need to take into consideration the poor conditions of the way the servers are on official and whether they can or cannot handle the way they make the taming method.

They need to reduce the spawn rate, reduce the agro range, make it land more often/stay grounded, lock it to a very specific region of the map like a nest, all of the above or just remove the God awful thing from the game entirely. You can't tame any dinos at all in the green zones without one showing up and ruining the taming effectiveness with its obnoxious feathers. I have never hated a dino addition to Ark more than this dumb bird. I'd rather deal with a whole pvp toxic griefer tribe with pyromanes than this dumb border
