those sketchbooks would be perfect christmas gifts - it is not something people would just buy themselves due to the price but I can see that being great to give to someone who really values good paper.

Hah, I'd probably just let it sit on my bookshelf, 'cus I'm afraid to mess up something that expensive xD

Very nice to see that they are making more books. They all look nice, Saunders paper would be my preference. Thank you for showing us.

These look so nice! As a bookbinder myself though, I do have to say that the cover ripping isn't dependent on if it's connected to the signature but on the reinforcement on the spine. Books usually use something like cloth tape or bookbinders tape or even flexible duct tape to keep paper pages from ripping due to wear and tear. There might be a chance it won't happen as fast since I assume the inner cover is also thicker watercolor paper though ^^

Lovely! I like how the covers are nice and thick, and that you can get larger sizes.

Teoh superb in look of these great looking sketchbooks. I love small sketchbooks as I take them everywhere and the A6 looks like a sketchbook made of out a dream. I will definitely look into purchasing a few of them. Thanks for bringing these sketchbooks to our attention. I would have never known of their existence otherwise.

Those are very nice. I'll be looking forward to seeing your reviews of them. I was just on their site and I'm interested in the Anacona B5 sketchbook with the dark olive green cover. Thanks for the excellent preview Teoh. 👍 😄

Couldn't quite make out what it is that you were concerned about damaging the leather. Was it mould?
@teohyc6 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I was talking about mould attack. I have a few sketchbook covers with mould problems.

I like the one that accommodates refills. Have you ever used a Midori - now known as The Traveler's Company?

I've not tried Midori before

The Somerset model is gorgeous. I've never had a sketchbook. I'm currently using a pad of arches paper that I cut to fit the size I need. I noticed that most of sketchbook paper have 220 GSM while loose sheets and pads have 300 (as the arches one). Is there a great difference? I'd love to get a sketchbook but I don't know which one I should get. If anyone out there has any recommendations I'll be happy to hear.

Thicker paper are less likely to buckle with paint, water and layering. So thinner paper can't be layered to many times. Thicker paper are harder to fold for sketchbooks and the edge may sometimes break, that's why they are usually in spiral sketchbooks.

When you think about it, If you are like me amd you have a full time job, and it takes you around a year to fill a sketchbook, these are worth it. The issue I have is always about being afraid to mess it up. 😄

Somerset & Heritage shipped to Vancouver Canada = $40.00 quite expensive though
@teohyc6 жыл бұрын
That is indeed expensive. These are heavy to ship. I’ll go weigh them at the post office to get the exact price and update my blog post.

Leather rots, molds, wears out, ... those artificial sketchbook covers are probably way more durable than the leather cover though lol
