2:27 That vehicle needs a $1,000 ticket for refusing to move. We need a full-time person in every county that checks onboard cameras that need to be in every police, fire and ambulance. Their sole job should be watching the video footage, grabbing tag numbers and taking a screenshot of the car and tag and mailing it with a $1,000 ticket to the owner of the vehicle every time someone fails to move for an emergency vehicle within 10 seconds of them hearing/seeing lights and having room to move. The income will more than pay for all of the cameras within the first year alone and will fund a ridiculous amount of things across the board. Excess funds should be put into a special account for each police, fire and EMS department and used to buy in bulk whatever equipment is needed that they are lacking or need to upgrade.

I love these ASP videos and am impressed with their no nonsense approach to runners. One thing, though. I’m surprised that they are allowed to run at high speeds without at least turning on their emergency lights. In many states, it is actually a requirement whenever police are superseding traffic codes to respond to emergencies.

I think the reason they do it/allow it is because people (especially around here) act erratic when they see emergency lights. If you're just a speeding car in someone's mirror they'll be predictable, but if you add blue lights to the equation, everyone acts differently. Also, it should be noted that ASP has very extensive driving training for their officers; so I assume, and have seen, that they do very good at high speeds even through traffic.

Part of me thinks the state does pits over local in case something bad happens and they sue. The state can afford a lawsuit more so than any local gov, especially when considering the resources such lawsuit would tie up at the local level

Your partly right, the other part is that in Arkansas you have to be licensed and trained to pit, there are different license levels as well. Arkansas State Police can pit when under 35 and then licensed over 35 up to 70, then 70 and above, though I've only seen two officers pit above 70; Jacob Byrd and I didn't see the name of the second one I saw. Also they need to have a vehicle with a pit bumper to mitigate the damage to the cruiser.

Can someone please explain to me why there's always a line of 27 LEO CARS behind the LEAD CAR in a chase? What logical reason is there for 26 other cars to follow 3 or 4 cars in a car chase? Unless you have heavy traffic, it is actually safer to run without your lights on. To many freeze up or don't know which way to pull when a cop is behind them. It is totally taught at the Academy. I know what your saying but been there and done that, much safer at times. Also Cops are told to keep left when possible, but to many dumbasses freeze up when they see lights. Not quite - they have wrap-around push bars - they're tubular metal (one would assume steel, but I don't know for sure) that extend to about the front of the front wheelwell. Keeps the plastic bumper from getting damaged when you PIT someone. They're slowly becoming more popular than the standard front-only push bars, and for good reason.

He broke 100 mph @ 1:05 but the cruiser's lights or siren were not activated until 2:21. A lot of cars were passed at 115 mph without any indication that police were coming up fast. Chase the bad guys, but don't just fly down the road like the guy you are chasing.

I highly doubt that any Explorer is going to be faster than the V8 Charger. Maybe the v6 pentastar charger. And I think there's multiple engines available for the Explorer Police Interceptor as well. I would also imagine an SUV is going to be geared lower than a sedan.

It's a good example of the local policies and rules enforced on local LEOs , where a pursuit can go on throughout an entire city endangering more people because smaller departments will not stop a criminal or crimes because of it's policies or rules. In some ways it defeats the entire purpose of local law enforcement that is not allowed to engage to stop a crime. The Uvalde tragedy is a prime example and very sad outcome of how some policies prevent LEOs from doing their job of keeping people safe. Let these professionally trained officers make decisions on their own , as professionals like the ASP do!
