this is the one I've been waiting for. I've been experimenting with 1200 grit diamond/ black or translucent Arkansas dual grit edges for a little over a week now on my work chef's knives. So far I'm pretty impressed with how they've held up.

Yeah, I'll have to try that combo once I get a black. So you do 1200 grit diamond for aggression - that would probably clean up a little easier! Thanks for the input Kevin!

Have you considered high end: 3M, Norton, or VSM sanding belts glued to a flat sub straight. - 3M has Cubitron 2 which cut fast, Norton has the U936 Norax Series w/molded crystal abrasives, VSM has the Ilumeron series which I have not tried yet but plan to try soon. - Belt Abrasives are spaced out so they run cooler & require less pressure. - Stability of the adhesives of the rest of the belts I have tested; not impressive. - I like really knives which are really thin behind the cutting edge ( 0.005" to 0.006" ). - The down side is don't get much practice sharpening. The cutting bevels are so small 2 to 3 light passes per side on my new DMT diamond plate & it's done.
