Thanks for a great video Jef. The whole 'improve' (lack of a better word) sounded great. I especially liked what you did around 12:00 (in Dorian)... sounded fantastic. This doesn't seem to be a type of 'style' most of your music is about, but i'd surely be interested to hear you do more work in this compositional 'style'. However, perhaps with the addition of a couple of instruments like a soft/felt piano and a cello/viola (played staccato) for melodies/leads to move it away from a dominant ambient sound (since this instrument sounds great for pads/drones/pedals). Just my 1.5 cents. Thanks again for introducing me to a couple of nice sounding instruments.

Exciting stuff. I knew I would find this distracting but having just watched the video on Sequis I thought I'd check this out. I guess any instrument will influence the way you play and compose, I certainly found that when I first encountered Steinberg Pro24 back in 1984. It strikes me that these high level musical languages are psychologically super active in forming composition/playing directions. e.g. Your Steve Reich adventure.

I bought it too! Didn't realize that it's included with Komplete 13 Ultimate Collectors upgrade, including the Infinite Escape and dozens of other expansions. -Wish NI would allow return to be able to get. Anyhow, question -searching Orchestral Tools site for Arkhis doesn't come up with any hits. Did they re-license to Native instruments? I am trying to find out what default midi CC is programmed that Arkhis uses for volume sliders for all three layers, -So don't have to re-learn midi cc -for Each Instance of Arkhis loaded on different tracks in Cubase.

The sounds are super unique and beautiful! Is this really only a specialized sound library, or could it also just be used for a traditional orchestral sample library?

As ALWAYS.... you give some of the best reviews on KZbin! PERIOD. But nah bro.... for $149 I'm not really feeling this all that much. If you have Output's Exhale or Omnisphere, this is just another lushy cinematic swell pads type thing. Now that "INFINITE ESCAPE" soundpack is kinda bangin'!

I've been a sucker for orchestral sound kits/synths for years (I will listen to Hans Zimmer scores all day just as normal music), BUT I find myself not using them in my projects as much as I hoped. By themself, they sound big and inspirational, but once I start adding contemporary drums/synths/guitar/etc, it all seems to fall apart to my ears. A few Artist who've successfully combined these sounds to my ears would be: Bjork (Selmasongs) , Rob D (Clubbed to Death), Deadmau5 (midas heel).

Jeff this looks to be efficient for work flow? But how is it on CPU as of course, creating a multi in Kontakt would effectively be similar to this, what would you say are the main benefits?
@Mu1974
@Mu1974 4 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. Three instrument patches with undulating or interesting articulations, midi learn 4 faders on the Maschine jam for individual volume faders plus fx level and you should get roughly the same result, I guess?

speaking as a ux designer, user interface in these things is awful, all they care about is make them pretty, then most people need a manual or a walkthrough even for such simple software. they disregard so many design rules. Orchestral tool’s stuff is usually even worse.

While I do like Arkhis' sounds a lot, I have to agree with Francesco regarding the Arkhis GUI. There's a lot of wasted screen space that could have been used more efficiently. For example, the global envelope and FX show/hide buttons are at the top of the screen but the controls themselves appear at the bottom. At least on my screen I have to click the button at the top then scroll down to even see the controls, let alone use them. And where did this small font grey text on a slightly more grey background UI style come from that's so common these days? It's really hard to see. Could we please have a larger, brighter font? There's plenty of room. It's not just Arkhis. I upgraded to Sampletank 4 recently and its grey-on-grey tiny font is barely visible. Don't get me wrong: I like Arkhis and I like Sampletank. But this font style has got to go! Other improvements/feature requests for Arkhis: Mute/Solo buttons for each layer. Numerical readouts for the Pitch setting.** More sounds (where's piano?). Could the Mod wheel be extended to start removing Layer 1 then Layer 2 in the top half of its throw (i.e. bottom=Layer1, mid-way=all three layers, top=Layer3)? **Caution regarding the Pitch setting... A few presets have layers that are slightly off-pitch by one tick on the Pitch slider (which is, again, very hard to see). This can lead to intonation problems when blended with other sounds (or other tracks in your DAW). I compiled an “Arkhis Preset Layers List” that lists all 222 presets showing the sounds used in each of the 3 layers, together with any pitch alterations and LFO settings. You can find which presets have Pitch settings in this list. Download the Arkhis Preset Layers List from the video description for my video "Re-creating Arkhis Audio Demo #3 Reborn" here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6u1ooZvbZighdE
