He is an wonderful CEO, he explains things very clearly and avoids unnecessary jargon so that ordinary viewers can understand what these companies are doing. This proves his credibility unlike many other professionals who just talk around questions and never really give clear answer. I am gonna collect some CRSP during this dip.

Nice overview of how CRISPR could disrupt the pharma sector. The IP and Regulatory process components of the puzzle could possibly outweigh target identification/therapy development as time to market and valuation drivers. Although they have their own issues,AgTech and VetTech might be worth considering as side plays with lower regulatory hurdles.

I found gold in areas such as: 1) the use of AI and op tactics which lead to ROIC in manufacture and screening efficiency. 2) future landscape (in- vs ex- vivo; proportion of gene; role of small molecules, regen med etc) 3) framework used ie. evolving tech through learning and iterations --- next gen Areas I would love Ali to help investors to dig deeper esp potential risks: 1) reason of Tony's rather sudden departure, and any impact to timelines 2) competitiveness eg. any base editor, new cas, tapping AI via partnership eg. Insitro, Exscientia, Schrodinger etc 3) patent battle risk eg. impact of losing fundamental patents; what if losing all outstanding patent cases

Unlike regular tech, bio-tech innovation will not be able to generate revenues on an ongoing basis as the technology continues to evolve. Apple for example was able to release the first iPhone, sell it, work in the background on the second and so forth, knowing most of those initial customers would be back for more next year and then some. This is fantastic business. We see first gen, second gen, crispr but at the end of the day we will need to wait for the ‘iPhone 10’ equivalent before crispr becomes a commercial product. This is beautiful, I’m invested, but let’s stop using tech as a catch all Goldilocks term. Everything in our world was tech at one stage. Not everything is a great iterative business model.

I'm invested in ARK funds, but there is no easy way to say this. All of the ARK funds have crashed catastrophically. When your funds are all down 50%, 60%, or 70% from their highs less than a year ago, it's really, really bad, especially when the S&P 500 is only down 4.5% from its all-time high. The goal of any good asset manager isn't just to make the highest return possible, it's to make good returns in a consistent way and to avoid catastrophic collapses in value like we have seen in ARK funds.
