YO!! Thanks dude!!! It’s been wild here as I’m slammed on a few crazy things, but honored by your accurate analysis! The harp was recorded live - first time I’ve done that. I definitely hung on that floaty G7 to avoid any strong harmonic motion while she talked about her corporeal self. For me, it gave it a sense of meandering I was looking for. I dipped into relative minor, but it weighs more major for most of it. I worked a lot to create the build towards the chorus; I wanted a lot of contrast, two sides to the character/song. Def lo-fi pop/RnB elements. Nice work!

For context, the lady behind Amiya? Yeah she's dead. Well she's a ghost. Kinda. A mental recording projected off of a magitech-hologram. She's also Amiya's primary maternal figure. So yeah, ghost mom handing down her crown to Amiya (which she literally did).

Casey Lee Williams is amazing, and this song is actually one of my new favourites amongst the Arknights OST, which is saying a lot. Setting aside the music itself, the story being told in the song is also simply impeccable and so, so tragic.

Since you said, you wanted to know which of the new stuff you should listen to: "Broken Sun" and "Merciful Broken Sun" are both fairly short but oml, they are amazing. Short enough to put them both in the same video, especially considering they share a motif.

So quick update about the band-aid lmao. THIS POST MAY BE TMI, SO HERE'S A WARNING IN CASE YOU'RE EASILY OFF-PUT. It wasn't a pimple. I thought it was, but apparently I had a MINISCULE CHUNK OF ROCK LODGED IN MY FOREHEAD LMAO I realized this today while looking over the wound (that wasn't healed which was weird) and luckily removed it with tweezers. Unfortunately there's a roughly thumb-sized layer of skin missing from the area in the center that's finally healing up. I've got medicated healing salves to assist the process, but I'm fine, it just looks awful. My best guess is while using the weed wacker/string trimmer on my lawn 2 weeks ago (because this has been slowly getting worse for about that time) something somehow flew so perfectly as to burrow under the top layer of skin. But it didn't get so deep that it was infected. I don't know how it did so without me feeling it, but the world is a weird place 🫠

hope you cover the chapter 14 ost, it's out on their spotify now genuinely think it's the most impactful "album" they've made having lappy and yuka kitamura make tracks for the main story seems a bold move and it definitely paid off

For full context: This relationship is the *messiest* part of Arknights lore. Pretty much the genesis point of the entire game. Spoilers below. This song is about Amiya, Teresa, and the "King of Fiends". The "King of Fiends" is a title passed down alongside an ancient magitech-originium crystal Crown, and basically says this person is the Leader of the Sarkaz people... And possibly also armageddon incarnate. Not certain on the truth to that, but it's widely believed in the game world. The last King was Teresa, and she passed it to Amiya. The only way to pass the crown on is to die. As you might surmise from that, the person behind Amiya is not Teresa, since to pass it down Teresa has to be dead. That is "Civilight Eterna", a copy (or rather, an Echo) of Teresa stored in the crown. Teresa was the Queen of the Sarkaz of a direct lineage, and a key founder of Rhodes Island alongside Kal'stit and the Doctor. Amiya was Teresa's adopted daughter after Amiya was brought to the landship as a young Infected child, so Teresa passed the crown to her on her death. Here's where this gets messier: while not all details are known of Teresa's death, two very important things are known. The person who killed Teresa was none other than the player character, the Doctor before the amnesia. This murder was witnessed by Teresa's close friend, Kal'stit, who promised Teresa on her deathbed to keep the Doctor and Amiya alive as Teresa's final wish. That is the only reason the player character is alive, having been gravely wounded and only saved by Kal'stit sneaking the Doctor into the Chernobog Sarcophagus.
