Due to the sheer size of scale, ocean is mostly unknown, and the fact that mobile city need A LOT room to manuver, it seems likely that terra is super earth class planet, many times the size of earth. Stars are visible from the surface, but explicitly said it cannot be used for navigation. This implying that their position is inconsistent, possibly wobbling due to the distortion caused by the... uh... THAT thing in Lonetrail event
@govinlock8568 Жыл бұрын
I think Terra has similar size as Earth because iirc R6S collab story tells us that gravitional pull in Terra is similar with the Earth. Instead, Terra's landmass for me is like Pangea during Triassic, in which most landmass are interconneted. Also if the size of Terra is bigger than earth, its mass must be the same because the gravity didn't increased.

For a further sense of scale on how absolutely massive nomadic cities are, in the Amiya skin where she has the newspapers, the headline reads “Over 1,000,000 dead in terrorist attacks.” If that’s accurate and if we assume that only like half of the people in the city died (since we know that there are survivors), a population of 2 million would make Chernobog the 5th largest city in the US today. Thank Sigmar that I am not the only one who made this parallel! Now that I think about it, the world of Arknights has hit a major sweet spot for a Warhammer fan like myself, hosting several parallels with our Earth and yet each having their own unique identity based on our own's culture and history. For instance, both Grand Cathay and Yan have draconic gods comparable to Chinese mythology, Sargon and Lustria have straight-up Lizardmen, and Sami is a weird mix of Kislev, Norsca and Troll Country due to you-know-what further north. Moreover, the setting is a particularly dark science-fantasy world like Warhammer 40,000;s Imperium of Man. But a crucial difference between AK and WH40K is that the former has (at least at present) has not quite hit the realm of 'grimderp' that has become increasing pervasive in the latter. On one hand wars and discrimination are an-all-too-common sight in Terra, but last I checked only Iberia is going all-out with the whole 'burn the heretic'. Perhaps this is why I have come to enjoy the setting of Arknights so much. Heck, right now I am in the process of writing on the Empire of Man in WFB, with a sprinkling of WH40K's Imperium of Man (and that other Warhammer game), as a nation of Terra.

@Madcat1331 Жыл бұрын
That seems to be a grossly oversimplified assumption, that Qaiser himself says is not the case. Look at the differences between our own Earthly cities: some are the hubs of economy and culture, while others are only relevant as centers for their respective districts. I bet Londinium trumps every other city in terms of size.
@zancloufer Жыл бұрын
I mean "majority of people" probably means 60-95% of the population. At 60 mobile cities that is 400k~635k per city on average in Victoria. For a post industrial revolution world those cities would be TINY. By the 19th century the top 20 cities where all over 500k with many hitting upwards of 2 million. Remember each mobile city isn't really one city but dozens of land-ships that can separate and merge as needed.

The only thing I would consider incorrect about this is that Originium (in the ground or in use) has something to do with catastrophes. While we as players can be pretty sure that this is the case, there are a lot of countries that don't believe there is enough proof for that theory, it is even hinted at that some researchers that published papers in that direction 'disappeared'. I imagine it something like the tobacco industry telling everyone that smoking is fine, even though they knew it wasn't and shutting up scientists that said otherwise, while paying a bunch of money to lobby groups to keep the truth under wraps. (Or the oil industry with global warming might be another, even closer, example for that behaviour.) Sources are some stuff during Siesta with Eyjafjalla and Eyjafjallas surrounding stories (I think it was even her parents that disappeared), but this is just going of my memory, so if someone wants to find the specific part, feel free. What muddies the whole thing even more is that some groups take this as fact (Durins), while others are still awaiting proof (Leithanien).

Mobile Cities reminds me of that old anime that has them where the world is radioactive and the only livable place are Mobile Cities itself that has this giant insects creatures that grow stronger the older they are. They also have this Mobile Cities vs Mobile Cities battle where the battle is basically "Capture the flag" objective where the winning Mobile Cities gets this resource extracting things and no actual death is needed. And of course they have military academy because of the world and for plot reasons. They also have this sword tournament thing where you get this super powerful blade if you win that tournament the protagonist has won a couple of years ago but hasn't accepted the blade for reasons. It only has 12 or 13 episodes and one season so it's mostly forgotten by now although I've remembered it a bit but not the name of this anime since it is old.

Because it usually still a big chunk of infromation to process. 40 mil / 60 = 667K people (rounded). The wording is ''most of them at the mobile city'', so maybe, just maybe, around 500K per mobile city. Maybe the rest are nomadic people? Do you have number of how many people are staying on the city compared to the nomadics? Given to the nature of the catastrophy, it may be larger than my imagination or estimation. I mean it might be more logical to stay mobile. Also for number comparison. 650K is the population of Macau, Oslo. 65K is the ABRAJ AL BAIT TOWERS, the largest building for human habitation by the Guiness Book of records. 50K the estimated population of Kowloon Walled city, one of the most densest place on earth. Perhaps the closest thing you can count how big the mobile city might be if you're looking to the multiple size of Kowloon. 7K is the passsanger capacity of the largest cruise ships today. 3.3K was the crew number of the IJN Yamato, the largest battleship with 72K ton displacement. 773 the crew of 10-15K ton Japanese cruiser Takao, i just put in comparison with Yamato. Japanese vessels known for uncomfortably packed with people...

The best part about it all is that thanks to lore from Lone Trail, one can imagine that AK's Terra is a lost experimental colony from the Dark Age of Technology. great video again mate. one of the nitpicks i have about the story even tho it is stated is how almost even the smallest of establishments have access to being on a mobile city, something which should be some highly engineered thing. how do those small villages/cities afford that? then again it might be a mass-produced thing now so i guess it won't be too hard for a community to acquire one. also one of the other things that bothered me was the internet system of arknights, as we know that terra hasnt gone to space yet, so it shouldnt have any satellites. how do those video-sharing platforms work across the world without such a connection?
@zacharysiow5478 Жыл бұрын
Unless i am severely misunderstanding you, i think you need to read up on how internet works in real life first based on your question, satelites are the last thing you need. Also, some villages can't afford them, they rely on messengers or travellers for information transfer. Like literally, qiu bai event's conflict is literally caused by this.

One suggestion i have for the next video is to theorize that Kazdel (the most misterious nation in terra) actually represents the middle east, considering they have religious wars, are culturally displaced and have a Major city named Taba (there is an existing city in egypt IRL called Taba), it also geographically matches the spot..... somewhat matches at least So yea, have a little heads up if the mystery hasn't been solved ;)

As a reminder, the nation of Kjerag is almost all stationary settlements due to the extreme rarity of Catastrophes in the isolated mountain ranges it claims as its territory.
