I Just got one last night and its really quite wonderful. Its economical, zippy, smooth ride for being a rspec sport model. The shifter and clutch are really quick and smooth. For the money its really the best performing vehicle. Sure the mustangs are faster but this car outhandles the mustangs and cameros and is only a half a second slower 0-60. With the benefit of front wheel drive it can be a practical year round vehicle.

the mint VT is the fox marketing car. if i remember correctly, it is widebody, on coilovers with a big turbo tuned by SFR.

Garrett Martin as a not-so-proud owner of one, I agree... It's a phenomenal platform, but the final execution is awful. It's hardly even in the "Hot Hatch" segment. It can't stand up to the Focus ST nor the GTI. It's kind of it's own thing, that being said, it compete with the Fiesta ST? I don't really know.

these cars are in the same class as the Civic SI, Fiesta ST, Abarth and Mini S (as well as a host of other models in other markets. It is not a "Hot hatch". Not sure where people got the idea it was designed to compete with Mazdaspeed, Focus ST, WRX or the like.

Any engine troubles with that or did you tune? I did my muffler delete on my 2015 VT and it caused engine troubles without me having a tune on it, or at least that's what my mechanic told me.

its a shame the performance dosent match the hype like my Abarth you have to modify the hell out of it to make it even perform close to the focus ST, Mazda Speed, Copper S, WRX. I do miss my Abarth and I love the looks of the Veloster but they just end up being modified nightmares. You do get what you pay for then again my ST3 cost 25k the Abarth27K with aftermarket shit add 5k to that. Thought I was going to upgrade the ST the same but honestly Im really happy with the stock set up

People who are wanting the most performance out of their hot hatch don't get a VT anyway. I bought mine for the options available and a Focus ST would have cost 3-4k more with the same options, on top of being hideously ugly (eye of the beholder, I know). In the end, it's still a FWD so you're going to get smoked by real cars anyway. These are just fun to drive little hatches with a ton of value for the money.

Doggorunning It doesn't beat the new V6 either though. Motor Trend has the ST .1 slower to 60 and .2 slower in the 1/4. I don't know why we're talking about V6 Mustangs anyway though. Any serious performance car (which the V6 Mustang is not) is going to be much faster than a Focus ST. If all you care about is speed, you're not going to be looking at anything in the Focus's class. So if speed isn't the primary concern, there's no reason to discount the value of a Veloster Turbo because it isn't the fastest car in its class. People buy them for other reasons like looks, available options, warranty, etc.

I don't get this car. Hyundai has one of the BEST 2 liter turbo on the market (Hyundai Sonata) with around 245 hp, which can EASILLY and reliably be chip tuned to produce 270 hp. Why not simply drop the 2 liter in and sell 1000% more of these cars at a reasonable price? 1.6 just doesn't cut it any more. (even 2 liters is kind of limp)
