For the record. I have never given anyone on KZbin a single dime. However, your videos are so useful and well put together that I had to show my appreciation. I haven't commented on the last few, but I watch and use almost all of them. Even though I had already designed a strategy to take out Dreadwings, your method definitely seems faster and less dangerous. On a different note. Have you considered making Guides for the Arena Boss Battles?

WOW! Thank you so much JosephCheetah! 🎊🎉🥳 This is a very generous donation and I really appreciate your support! 😁 I'm really glad you're finding my videos helpful even though you've already developed your own methods. I do have an Arena guide on my list of videos to make. Unfortunately, because the Arena is so frustrating, I think a lot of people just turn down the difficulty to get their medals and move on, so I'm not sure how popular the video(s) would be. That being said, I have been getting some requests for Arena guides lately, so maybe I should do them after all. Thanks for the suggestion! And thank you again for your support. It's much appreciated 😄🤜🤛👍

The sheer creativity that went into the machines in this world is incredible, not just visually or lore-wise but in terms of actual gameplay. HZD was impressive but this is one area where HFW completely blows it out of the water, especially when it comes to the big machines. I haven’t encountered this level of tactical richness in any other game.

A bit late I know, but upon second viewing, I have something to suggest. A little to the east of the marked site, there is a horus, if you have the sunwing, you can easily pick up the energy cell, fly for ten seconds, then drop it on the dreadwing. This provides EXTREMELY easy tie down and fang removal, after which I can simply flee and go pick up another cell, by that point the dreadwing will have despawned and respawned when I approach, so I can repeat and get an insane amount of fangs per hour. The process goes like this: 1:pick up energy cell 2: drop energy cell on dreadwing 3: tie down dreadwing 4: harvest fangs 5: either repeat or kill the dreadwing using this video to gain circulators, primary nerves, or apex hearts. Hope this was helpful to somebody, and easy hunting to you who read this.

I prefer to trigger elemental states on flying machines to force them to land/crash for roping. Whatever they are weak to. Fire for regular Dreadwings. Elemental arrows have a bigger range and a more reliable buildup compared to directly roping them down. (Plasma (e.g. on Stormbirds) even makes them land twice (beginning and end)! And on Stormbirds the increased range of sharpshot plasma arrows is great as well...)

Thanks so much for the video! One technique that I've found that helps with these guys is to just pound it with the explosive tear arrows. That seems to knock off the mine thrower and sensors then use surrounds like the bridge support or large machine limb to hide behind and the deathwing doesn't seem to get a clear shot at you with its wings.

You did good again. Personally Dreadwings (along with stormbirds and thunderjaws oddly) are one of those large machines I don't mind tussling with. Ordinarily I don't ropecast them, but good to know it's an option when I'm methodically harvesting components. Also, the shredder gauntlets bring out the sadist in me. Blowing them to hell with a boltblaster is less fun in comparison. Having said that, I am here for whatever brutally surgical machine hunting guides you make. These are like finding $20 in the couch cushions each time you release them. Keep 'em coming.

Amazing video! Fighting these machines is so rewarding, because they have all sort of weaknesses which you discover, and learn how to exploit as you play. I noticed a nice detail, it has the symbol of its cauldron on the leg plate that you were targeting. I love how the devs imagined these machines. It's really like an AI like Heph. went rogue and as it grew, it started developing machines for its new identity or purposes. What I slightly dislike in FW is how upgrading gear is gated, so you can't really focus on maxing out your stuff until you do certain quests. Since you can get these weapons before completing those quests, I think you should be able to upgrade them. I mean it's quite a grind to upgrade them anyway, waiting until the map opens certain encounters is a bit too much.

Correction: the stormbird/dreadwing hunting spot west of the colosseum can be accessed by foot by jumping up the cliff face near the southwest rock face of the area with the slaughterspine. BEFORE Gemini. As soon as you complete the embassy mission and enter the main map area.

@@paristeta5483 Thats not what Damage over time is. Once in corroding state the enemy keeps taking damage unless the state finishes, and thats DoT. FWIW you can access the dreadwing/stormbirb duo up in the mountains without the thing you get from cauldron: Gemini. There are a couple fires/camps north of that location and it is possible (albeit slow) to traverse the mountain ridges and glide down to that area. I'd still farm the bat near latopolis though, much easier. If you need stormbirds, there's one way west in San Fran near the golden gate bridge that's a static solo spawn.

These are always so incredible! LOL It's SO COOL how you get so much information packed into each video... amazes me how clear, direct, but jammed-packed they always are. Videos this informative and dense have no right being so clear and understandable lol! Ok, to this video specifically... thanks for showing the aim assist that you use, wondered about that sometimes. What sensitivity do you use most for your sticks? It's very very useful to see you utilizing so many different weapons and techniques when going after these nasty critters, I had honestly forgotten about smoke bombs and didn't use them except when underwater. lol watch, next video you'll be telling us "If you can use stealth and bounce a rock off the helmet of ANY Rebel Leader/Commander, it'll make a ringing sound like a bell that can actually work like a machine lure. Three acid clawstriders will spawn twenty five meters from the Rebel Leader, and if you're quick enough, all three can be overridden by using Aloy's "wink" pose in Photo Mode!" It's really cool to see how clever and cooperatively you use multiple tactics to influence the adversary and control the fight at every stage. It would've been REALLY neat if they had exploited the Dreadwing's vampire ability a bit more, or in a story mission more blatantly focusing on it, I had no idea it could do that. These enemy videos you make are incredible and very helpful, I've been playing on Very Hard successfully thanks to them. Speaking of, I'm going to try a full NG+ on Very Hard working up to Ultra. You don't have to make an Ultra Hard video for us, because your tips and tactics in ALL of the other videos contribute the most help. But if you are still considering it, here are some of my general ideas/personal requests to suggest (since a lot of folk on your last video seem to agree that it'd be a helpful video for a lot of us n00bs, and I've not seen others on youtube) 1: Aside from obviously maxing out best gear as prep, what would be your best recommendations of things we really should have/would be a good idea to have? (specific foods, how many potions if any of what kinds, machine parts we should farm like volatile sludge, etc) B: Things we MUST understand to survive (more important to focus on healing or damage output? Changing our strategies in some cases in ways we might not normally be used to [ex. using the Tenakth Low Health= "more this" stuff as opposed to Hunter armor]) E3: Can older folk/not as proficient gamer folk like me even compete in Ultra Duper Hard, and what prep/grinding should/can we do to compensate for slower reflexes/poor techniques? I personally do not have as much trouble doing tons of damage on Very Hard (again mostly thanks to your videos!), but I do have a lot of trouble staying healthy/alive... and I know Ultra will be worse. Is there anything I should focus on that doesn't equal just "git gud ad game?" C4: Again, I know vaguely how hard it is to make these videos and greatly appreciate the time and work it takes, so please don't think I'm just whining and begging for a needless video. While I do think it could be a good vid that would draw attention, I can fully understand why it wouldn't seem worth the effort since ALL of your videos work towards helping us fight Duper Hard anyway... maybe as a concise (even short) "MUST do these/be prepared to do" compilation of your other general strategies would be worth it, for views and information. Just trying to help, I think quite a few people are interested in it, but believe me when I say I understand a little of the cost-effort trade-off involved here and definitely don't want to sound whiny or pressuring. For most part, I'd say a good ropecaster/shock weapon would be helpful to make it easy to hit the more mobile machine parts and canisters. From there I would say focus on hitting the weapons of a machine first. For example shooting off the Salvo cannons on apex tremortusks by shocking it with shock arrows. It is much easier to react to physical attacks. seeker works best for this.

@wren7195 this are just general tips from someone who has bad aim and mid reflexes and I've only played on hard. Arctix has a lot more tips than me tbh that work on harder difficulties, but I can try giving more specific tips if you are still struggling. I'll be playing through very hard and eventually ultra hard soon-ish once I level up my gear so I'll eventually be able to provide better tips. Until then, in terms of dodging attacks, the ranged ones(ie Salvo cannons and Thunderjaw missiles) are a matter of reaction time and timing. However physical attacks are usually telegraphed pretty hard on bigger machines. If you are struggling stop attempting to damage it and pay close attention to what happens after certain roars or wind ups, then learn at what points to slide-dodge. For example I let whenever I see a tremortusk bend down I know he's about to throw the rock, so I run in one direction until the rock leaves it's trunk and then dodge in the opposite direction, or slide dodge to the side. Edit: a good panic surge would be Toughened which on top of a lot of healing over time provides damage resist and resistance to stuff like the Roaring and being crushed by big machines at higher levels. Very good for learning attacks against harder machines and as a panic button when you are out of heals and know you are going to be hit a lot. You won't be invincible and still have 75% of the attacks, but it makes it much easier to survive. You also don't really have to spec into the survivor tree at all to unlock it.

Very well done channel. I haven't finished the story and these tactics have really aided in making quick work of machines particularly the shellsnappers. And the drillspike knockdown tip and slide dodge changed my whole play style. I was wondering if after the machine masterclass videos you might start a series of arena guides? I'm playing on very hard and don't want to easy up the difficulty to beat the arena so a guide to the best strategies would be incredibly beneficial. I say, as now all (or nearly all) big machines are done, we need a How to Kill Thunderjaws! I know you have an old one for Zero Dawn, and a quick speechless one. But Papa Thunderjaws deserves it. It's the poster machine of the franchise, if memory serves the only big one of the origninal game to still be here, it's still a big and scary machine. And an Apex Thunderjaw look mean and slick. ^^ You need to pay your respect to this scary Old Timer. ;) (Old Timer would be a nice name for some kind of legendary beast of a Thunderjaw)

Another great video. Thanks ArkTix. I have three quick questions please: 1. Does the range-master valor surge affect tear damage and the elite ropecaster? If so, it might be a good idea to activate that valor surge before aiming for the fangs or radar. 2. What is the best weapon and coil setup for head-shotting armored humans on ultra-hard? 3. What are your top 3 favorite weapons? Mine are carja bane, blastforge and ancestor's return.
@ArktixOfficial
@ArktixOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Emeka! 1) So I haven’t tested that specifically, but I’m almost positive Ranged Master won’t boost tear damage on the ropecaster. 2) I’d suggest stealth 25% coils, but crit chance coils can work well too if you aren’t playing stealthy. 3) I’d say Ancestor’s Return, Blast Forge, and Sun Scourge.

At the default Dreadwing site you can also use the tank as a defensive structure. You can easily roll/slide below parts of the tank, which will not be possible for the Dreadwing on the ground and give you a lot of time to freeze/shoot it.

The problem I have with them is their stumping crap. I figured the slide, roll technique was how to deal with it but I suck at it. More or less average. I use the tear blast technique on the fangs, but if I get one, I usually let it fly, aim with concentration and shoot below the remaining tooth. Usually I get it on the first shot. I like using the plasma because of the boom it gives, but do like your idea to rope cast it and get around to the back so you can shoot the radar. I might use that. Although, electric arrows might be quicker. I might tinker with that. And I do love your sliding rope caster trick. I use it on the Shellsnappers when going for the shell bolts. It's quicker and easier to get them by shooting them off with the hunter bow than with tear blast arrows, and I can save echo materials. You have to use 5-7 echo blast to make them. What a pain to load and gather them. I either get them from Longlegs or Clamberjaws. They are the only ones I know of, and I believe I checked multiple times, that give them out 100% of the time. Longlegs in Zero Dawn were really easy to kill. Just shoot both electric cylinders and done. With Forbidden West, you can do it, but they always seem to have a little bit of life, and I want those burners. And don't get me started on the Apex Longlegs. Now I just shock them and shoot the burners off. A little bit more work, but it's worth it.

Thanks! Tramples are only in HZD, so I probably won’t go back to make a video for them, but Paris gave you the main tactic, which is to get them burning by exploding that component on their belly. You do have a reticle on UH, but a lot of UH players turn it off to make it even harder.

Hey ArkTix: Does the range master valor surge also affect tear and elemental build up?
@paristeta5483
@paristeta5483 2 жыл бұрын
No and No. It also does not effect the Damage over Time effect of Shredders, Drill Spikes, Residues left by Blastslings Bombs, the power of the Rope from Ropecasters, and Knockdown Power. Suprisingly, seems to increase the damage (only) for the shredder mine, also melee detonator seem to benefit from it, so does the spike trap.

Getting the fangs has not been a problem, but after four kills in a row, including an apex, not a single primary nerve.
