The Slitherfang may be the showrunner of the game, but I have a feeling the Slaughterspine is the one Guerilla is most proud of in Forbidden West. It's the only Machine with Dynamic Music.
@alexzotov20722 жыл бұрын
Actually I also noticed that Tideripper has its own soundtrack too, at least the one at the site where it comes out of the water, it's located on the coast down left corner of the main map (not San Francisco). I really like the music of that fight

@@alexzotov2072 Unfortunately, that Tideripper's music is the same as the Slaughterspine's. The track is called Built to Kill.

Dynamic music is referring to the fact that the big riser that plays in the slaughterspine theme is specifically synced up to the plasma charging up. This doesn't happen in the tremortusk (not tideripper 😊) version. That being said, I agree with OP's point and I hope to hear more dynamic themes in burning shores!

Your HFW videos are amazing! They are detailed, well produced, and fun to watch. You have the best HFW on KZbin IMHO. I need to try the ropecaster technique. I haven't used it at all, but it seems to make things much more manageable. My strategy so far is to get it to the brittle state with a triple-notched bow (with more shots as needed if that didn't get all the way there). Then I hit it with a sustained boltblaster assault, a splitting spike hit (if there's time) and then pop a smoke bomb and disappear into the grass or behind something large! I'll reload and do it again. Those plasma attacks one-shot me more times than I'd like to admit until I figured out my approach. I was using the Nora Thunder armor but have recently started playing around with the Tenakth Vanquisher armor and its low health perks. Once I got past my overwhelming urge to immediately heal, I've found I can dish out quite a bit of extra damage and take way more than I thought I could in return. Upping the difficulty from normal to very hard really forced me to change my play style. Before I changed it I was doing 1-2 braced shots and calling it a day. That took down most machines. Once I raised the difficulty and tried that (after they nerfed it also) it barely put a dent in the health bar. I remember thinking, "Well crap...". But honestly, upping the difficulty has made it a brand new game. I have to strategize each attack and it's forced me to use things like the shredder gauntlet and boltblaster. I rarely use my sharpshot bow anymore. Your videos helped me learn the ways to get the most out of ALL my gear and has turned this great game into an amazing one. I'm sure a channel like yours takes a great deal of resources and I have gotten so much from it and I appreciate it very much, so thank you!

I mostly go after the one that's up in the mountains near one of the survey drones. I definitely feel that's the easiest one to go after especially if you get to High Ground. But I would definitely wear a Tenact Tactician outfit for long-lasting override and override all of the leap lashers. Once I have all of them at least with the normal ones, I would then fire a homing Arrow on the slaughter spine so they all attack it. At the very least you remove the little nuisances.

Man, this is such a great class on hunting the Slaughterspine! I typically go for the one in the mountains in the Sky Clan area just around the corner from the Thunderjaw, Stormbird and Dreadwing (although the latter two aren't shown on the map with an icon, they are there). I like that location because you can take down four different heavies one after the other and if you go at night you get apex variants. I also like that location because there's some high ground (cue Obi-Wan memes 😆) I can use to protect me from melee strikes. I'm sure I'll be using this technique or some variation of it moving forward. I just finished the game for the first time today, got the platinum trophy and I'm looking forward to New Game +. However, I think I'll go hunting for the rest of my upgrades and resources I'll need for the new weapons before I start that since I'm going to play it on Ultra Hard. In fact, I think you suggested that in one of your videos. Anyway, I just wanted to say that your videos have proven to be some of the best I've found on this game. Your work is excellent! I think you'll get more traction for your channel soon. P.S. Your shredder gauntlet class really helped me out! It's awesome in terms of resource management! Thanks again! 😃

This strategy worked extremely well, thank you! My first try took about 5 rounds of rope->freeze->blast->drill (ultra hard) but then I did it a few more times and got better (~3 rounds), just like you predicted! Also I used Carja's Bane with instant freeze coils (3%+2%+2% = 7% chance, which comes out to ~30 shots to have a 90% chance to freeze) because my best frost weapon is still a blue bow somehow...
@carbon1621 Жыл бұрын
Okay so quick order is as follows: Tie down >> Freeze (armor piece) >> activate valor >> sustained burst boltblaster, earth blaster part if able >> drilling spikes on legs >> tie down again >> (valor if able) sustained burst again, on plasma core if able >> repeat as necessary. Additionally, the focused shot sharpshot bow is an alternative option to boltblasters here, particularly directly on the plasma core. For apex: from stealth, drill spike legs for knockdown >> exploding spike purgewater sac >> proceed as above. Arktix, you are the man for these. Thanks so very much!

Ultra Pro-tip that probably has been discussed elsewhere. You can iFrame the echo damage of Plasma (what I call the Zed damage in reference to Zed from LoL) by timing a dodge the moment that it would proc. Not precisely after the timer runs out, but by ~2 seconds after when the energy swirls around you. You will still be knocked down, but if no water is available and you have no Cleanse Potions, pulling a hail mary on a nearly frame perfect dodge can save you

Just discovered your channel in recommend videos. I think your approach is probably the fastest and most efficient. However I use a different strategy. I go after the slaughterspine near Sky’s Sentry settlement and Breached Rock Rebel Camp. I approach the slaughterspine from the north in the area of the wooden deck you use to jump onto the drone. I use advanced hunter arrows to take down the leaplashers by targeting their power cell or other weak points. The trick is to do that without triggering the caution or combat state of the slaughterspine. Just make sure the big guy is as far away as possible. I first use tear precision arrows to remove ALL of the plasma spine launchers AND ALL of the spinetail lancers. I do this by firing one arrow at a time at the appropriate point (a well placed arrow can remove as many as 3 plasma spine launchers with one hit) and then I run up into the crevice to the north as far as the green grass (don’t run too far or the splaughterspine will respawn - ask me how I know LOL) to wait for the warning (yellow) caution state to clear. The repeat as necessary until all of those weapons have been removed. Then I use frost arrows (or acid on the apex) and keep pummeling him with Hunter arrows from above. It’s no where near as fast as your method but I think it is easier because the slaughterspine’s devastating attacks are removed either by being too far away or because the weapons are gone. Great video . . . glad I found your channel!

I feel like you keep finding the ways Guerilla intended for players to fight machines. Each one has its own unique method to take down more so than in Zero Dawn. So these videos make me appreciate the combat more.

It took me over 60 fast travels between 4 possible slaughterspine locations just to get one apex slaughter spine, even after killing the normal one at its site multiple times.
@starscourge_blackfyre1471 Жыл бұрын
For Apex slaughterspines I use acid ammo and go from there, it's not better then frost but it can be almost as effective especially since it's not resistant to it
@ArktixOfficial Жыл бұрын
Nice! Yeah acid is a solid element.

This works quite well but honestly I had such a hard time dodging I ended up tweaking the strategy a bit and relying on over shield instead of using the valor pool for bonus damage It adds some extra tie down cycles but I had higher chance of surviving and not consuming as many potions

This dude's content is premium, I love watching these videos, and I especially like the audio for some reason. That said, I do have one question... He keeps referring to the machine as a "he", and I'm wondering how this was determined. In all my time sliding & dodging through the middle "him", I've yet to see a big ole fireclaw dong hanging around...

Great video. I gotta stop sleeping on boltblasters. My only strategy was simply to circle around that big mound/hill in the background and use it to block its ranged attacks. I wonder if freezing + sharpshot bow focused shot would be effective though.
@ArktixOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Yes boltblaster as are really good! It took me a while to really give them a try too, but once I figured out how to work them into my playstyle it was great! I might do a masterclass video on boltblasters…freezing +sharpshot focused shot is definitely strong, especially if you can hit the plasma core a few times!

Hey thanks! Glad you’re liking my content! And UH is mostly for fun, but because you have to start a NG+ there are 8 new legendary weapons in NG+. I have a video on them. However, you can stat NG+ on any difficulty to get those, so yeah UH is really just for a challenge.

Hey Artix, I recently took down an Apex Slaughter Spine in under 60 seconds on UltraHard. The upload is on my own small channel. Unfortunately, Guerilla just aren't adept at designing good combat systems. All their games bear testament to this bitter pill. That being said, here are a few general tips for slaughter spines on UltraHard: Firstly, just as the biggest hurdle with the Rockbreaker are its mining claws, the biggest problem with the Apex SlaughterSpine on UltraHard is actually its insane health pool. This is simply lazy/bad design by Guerilla, but enough about that. The question then becomes, how to deal with its large health pool without wasting resources and your own time as a gamer? Secondly, just like every other machine its eyes count as a weakspot and are easier to aim at than its plasma core which is often obscure by its constantly moving legs. Thirdly, its attacks are actually quite easy to dodge. The real problem is that they cover too much ground and Aloy's only "solution" is to dodge and that simply isn't enough to deal with the ground its attacks usually cover. Ergo, if all you need from it is an easily torn off component, your best bet is to simply use elementary fury, shock it, and then tear off the part. Fourthly, the second biggest problem, imho, are its plasma "leaks". Even you deftly dodge all its attacks, this machine, much like the clamberjaw leaks miasma, in this case, plasma, that can still hurt Aloy. This is why I recommend aiming at its face because there is much less chance of plasma splash damage. Lastly, and your own strategy attests to this, it is simply not worth tearing off its weapons. Its health pool is simply too large, it takes Aloy too much time and, even if you succeed in tearing off all its weapons, it still has soooooo many other plasma attacks it can unleash thereby making the whole process pointless. So it is just not worth "defanging" it like your normally would say a TremorTusk's salvos and plasma/shock cannons or a RockBreaker's mining claws.
