I think it has something to do with the gear ratio, when you go onto the main straight down to turn 1, the ai doesn't have the top speed in the 8th gear, but the run down towards turn 3 is shorter, and the ai has the slipstream plus drs and they won't hit the top speed, so they have the advantage at around 180-200kph, but over 210kph you are much quicker coz that is what ai can do at maximum. That is why you blast past so many cars in the first two laps on the main straight.
