Wow, Paul Motian, the legendary jazz drummer, on drums for Arlo !!
@tomrott533325 күн бұрын
YES !!! Indeed !!! Hahaha...And Ralph Towner (Oregon, ECM, etc) was in Tim Hardin's band during Woodstock. He told me 2 years ago, their drummer got frozen, when he saw the crowd ! :) Could not play.

@ Not familiar with Towner, but that sounds pretty cool !

Arlo was so achingly beautiful, inside & out. What I wouldn't give to have been there. With him.

So I was just watching a documentary on drummer Paul Motian, and Arlo is on there talking about this gig. Apparently he had about 7 bottles of champagne before going on. He said he wasn't fit for a gig of 50 people let along 500,000 haha.

What a vibe this Arlo Guthrie, man! Far out! They should release the 120 miles of unedited video taped at Woodstock, can you dig it?

Thanks for this historical set. He didn't have time to do Alice's Restaurant but they did get to spend maybe 18 minutes and 34 seconds tuning that 12 string. And then you kind of wonder how the folks cleaned up after the concert...and what did they do with the garbage..?
@jschwiegs2 жыл бұрын
Apparently it took 1 month to clean up the entire field. I'm sure they eventually burned most of it.

Nice tunes. Ordinary pubs singer (kinda preacher) on the Woodstock Stage. That is the WOODSTOCK!
@stephenheacock58553 жыл бұрын
Some of what's said at the mic is as good as the music itself. Got a good chuckle from Arlo's comments about being the only one acquainted with the garbage scene. How did they let this get buried for 50 years? Thanks for letting us hear it...Another set of stage announcements that I'd like to hear: those that follow Santana's set, labeled "Wheat Germ, Holly has your bag."

it was never LOST OR BURIED AWAY...I discovered it as a teenager in 90s from my mother and my son has had it passed down to him. Your parents must've been squares ⬛ maaaaan, ya dig. If you spent time with FAR OUT people then this would have been handed down to you. Im glad you found it here my friend. I urge you to listen to BERT SOMMERS set at Woodstock too😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
