My Parents taught me all about WOODY Guthrie, Arlo's Dad, an American Treasure, Activist and Icon. According to my Mother, I have been listening to Woody, Pete Seeger and many other Musical Geniuses and Genres , from the womb and have been doing so since. My daughter has been listening to Arlo, Woody, James Taylor, Pete Seeger, the Beatles, S&G, Motown, Classical, Rock, Blues and Hip Hop in its infancy since SHE was in my womb. The first time I laid eyes on Arlo was when I saw Alice's Restaurant for the first of many times. When he first appeared on screen, I jumped our of my seat and yelled, "WoW! Woody's son is CUTE!" He was, he IS and a LOT MORE. He has for years, like his Dad and Pete Seeger, maintained the Tradition of telling Stories Through Song. He has shared his light with the world and continues to do so. His Guthrie Center, in Housatonic MA. was built in Woody Guthrie's Honor and still reaches out to help and entertain the Community and way beyond. I have been offered the GIFT of volunteering at The Guthrie Center and will resume the joy of doing so when the dust from this covid thing settles. I miss Arlo, the other beautiful and gracious volunteers, those that come for free lunch, medical treatment, clothing and food and a boosted morale, who are in hard times and STILL RELEVANT HUMANS. That belief is evident by the compassion and empathy shown AND returned to us by our friends in need of support and love. Corny? Maybe, but the beautiful Truth! Peace!

Words can't explain how much beauty flows within and without this video. Thanks to the late great Jackie Guthrie for uploading this (this is her channel, but it was put into Arlo's name a couple of years ago). For years, this video popped up in my suggestions but never being a big Elvis fan, I never bothered to watch it. One night, on a whim, I finally gave it a chance and, man, am I glad I did. It evoked emotions in me that I had forgotten could be produced by mere music. The video in its entirety is magnificent. There is something so pure about it that it rids me of any guilt I feel watching it when I should be doing something else more "productive". There I was, some years ago, watching this with wet cheeks and an open heart; here I am now, midst of a mental breakdown, hiding at home with COVID-19 spreading about Australia, a nation who fails to take it seriously (we never went into lockdown/quarantine), and this song pops up in my suggestions. I decide to give it another chance and, sure enough, the same feeling I experienced all those years ago comes right back. I may not have any tears now, but I have a sudden drive, an ambition, an inspiration to be more like people like Arlo and Pete. Peace and love is what they have preached all their lives, and it sure as hell has had a significant impact on the world we live in today.

Simply put, Arlo is a National Treasure. The way he commands a crowd, his story telling, and his musical persona, is epic. He is so unbelievably engaging. I saw him play at Bethel Woods (NY) in August 2019 at the top of the same field that he played 50 years ago (to the day) at the Woodstock Festival and he was magic. The funniest line he delivered to the audience was “please don’t eat the brown ANT-acid” ... it was hysterical! He knows how to folk it up and helps the audience with lyrics so that they can sing along. It’s never about him, it’s about people. He sounded wonderful and it will be a memory that I’ll remember forever. Peace and love Arlo!

I’m a new guitar player. Well new is perhaps misleading in that I had my 79th birthday on 22 April 2022, having retired only a couple of years ago, so I’m hardly new but my guitar playing is. My wife of 56 years bought me a great acoustic guitar to give me something to do / not to interfere with her daily routines. The great Arlo has been my inspiration! It’s taken a while but I’ve practiced this song and the way he plays it and it’s more or less come together! I start my practice with with it every day. I’m now trying to work on his other songs. Thank you Mr Guthrie!

Well you have to look at the way it was when we were the young rulers of the world. We didn’t have to put on rosy glasses or pay professional people to make our voices pretty. Thank you Arlo. When all the songs were sung, you chose the one that brought us back to the time when singing a song made people open their hearts and we remembered a time when bringing the love was what was important. ❤️😘✌️

Same. It's a little bitter-sweet for me though. When I hear this song, I think of the love I have for my son and the love that his beautiful fiancee has for him. My son is 30. The last 15 years of his life have been quite traumatic because I am an alcoholic. We've experienced terrible incidents because of me. My son is an accomplished classical guitarist, has an honours degree in music and is now studying law at uni. I caught up with him and his beautiful lady on boxing day 2021. Caught up with him and his lady today. Both occasions were happy, although, both times, I could sense he was tense initially. My son works part time for an organisation that cares for troubled youths. Today I said, "You've got the perfect background for the job." He responded, "Yeah it really helped me with the interview." I love my son with all my heart and soul. I thank him for always coming back to me. "Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life too For I can't help falling in love with you." I know the moment of conception of my child. I have always loved him. I will always love him. Arlo, your song makes my heart burst with tears of sadness but mostly with tears of joy.
