We are in a Pandemic with the covid 19 ,the borders are closed ,meet packing plants are being closed, crops are left to rot in the fields while food banks run low on food. The migrant workers illegal or legal are dying or testing positive therefore they are getting blamed by many for the packing plants closing. arlo i love the thought of being a ranger. if you are in a tower you get to look for peace in the valley. you an yodel and wait for.echo to return. you will have time to sing billy joel royal song we didn't start the fire but first you have report to the appropriate fire fighting first responds then you have to be safe in Johnny cash's ring of fire. if you are on a trail line you might catch a ride on the wabash cannonball. or a train to the city of new orleans or you can smoke a joint until you can sing johnny denver s song of rocky mountain high with mama cass eliot or was that i leaving on a jet plane or pinkard and bowdens parody im lebanon on a jet plane. arlo thanks for the memories. according to the briggs meyer test i should have been a lone woofer and one job was a forest ranger it it was a suggestion for at least the 5 times i took briggs meyers test. i was mainframe cobol dinosaur maybe i could be a glen campbell rhinestone cowboy or toby Keith's should've beena a cowperson or may take the briggs meyer test suggestion i already have a 50 acre pasture that grew up to a 74 acre wood lot. would it grow larger if i were a forester another lone strange. oh well only in america. it suspect that it is 65 acres but will be taxed at 75 acres because the tax accessors need to gain 10 acres some where they gave to an out of state flat lander. my foiled them by enrolling it in the land use program which would offset the taxes. and thick type town has to pick up the difference because the state cannot pay the taxes. i gave the town a chance to reduce my acres to reduce the tax burden to the town but they prefer i keep 10 acres of fake property. a new meaning to the song for this is my land this your land. now it my turn to own 10 acres of invisible. only in america yakoff smirkoff said it best

Hi, Len. This Arlo clip touches me. What a tribute to Mary! I think of the braceros I knew who were made to live in dugouts on a foetid creek in northern San Diego County, with 1930s-style gun-thugs running interference for the ranchers--and that was in the 1980s! Fortunately, Alex Cockburn and Tom Hayden put a stop to that practice.

Losing Mary was like having part of my own life ripped away, and I know I'm among millions. This is a beautiful, meaningful tribute, and it stirred me to tears. Peter's note in response says the rest much better than I ever could. Thank you so much for posting it here. R.I.P Mary Allin Travers!

The first time I heard "Deportee" was on the Bound For Glory soundtrack. But the first time I realized I could find out who wrote a song so that I would always have that song, even without the songbook, I could find another copy somewhere, was when I read in my second grade music book, "This Land is Your Land," written by Woody Guthrie. Woody has never been far from my life since.

Why? The occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave whom this song was aimed at on Nov 7, 2009 when this was recorded doesn't live there anymore. He cashed in, street hustler that he was, and now has several multimillion-dollar mansions, gated and secure to hide out in. Maybe you can copy this video to a florescent thumb-drive and sling-shot it over the fences if his Secret Service detail doesn't shoot you first. I'm sure he wouldn't mind being disturbed by a little folk who helped make him a fat-cat.

'Twas a Thursday evening in Murray's Top-Shop in Lusk, County Dublin when my old friend Dick Delaney (RIP), Denis Murray, Eamon Carroll and I "brought- the- house- down" with a rendition of Deportees. The late Dick with his white guitar, took the lead with the rest of us providing harmony and extra guitar support. Ah... Dem was the days!
