I'm going to look at your other low cost options as a new subscriber, but I actually loved this review. Despite the higher price, it seems to me it would be worth it for those like myself who do not want to hard wire any equipment, don't need to have a gazillion alerts, easy to charge and has great video quality/function. I have the Arlo Pro 3 with three cameras for about a year. Have had many technical problems with this system. One problem never resolved was setting Activity Zoness for each camera. I have not had this resolved even after many on-line sessions with Arlo technical support. Also, accessories like indoor/outdoor cables and solar panels are very pricey.

I expected the Arlo Pro to start recording a few seconds before the motion was detected. Sadly this is not the case. I bought the Arlo Pro 3 because it is battery powered. I didn't want leads trailing everywhere. There is the Arlo Foresight feature which lets you see what triggered a motion event before it happened. Your Arlo camera or wired video doorbell captures video prior to every motion-triggered video recording, so you never miss a moment. This feature has been automatically added to your saved videos in the Arlo cloud. For the Foresight feature to work with your Arlo camera: YOU MUST HAVE A COMPATIBLE ARLO CAMERA THAT IS PLUGGED DIRECTLY INTO A POWER SOURCE! It's a battery powered camera! The Foresight feature is currently available for Arlo Ultra, Pro 3, Pro 2, wired Video Doorbell, Q, Q Plus, and Baby. For the Arlo Ultra and Pro 3 cameras, use the Arlo indoor magnetic charging cable and power adapter (VMA5000C or VMA5001C) or Arlo outdoor magnetic charging cable with integrated power adapter (VMA5600C or VMA5601C). For the Arlo Pro 2 camera, use the Arlo indoor power adapter and power adapter cable (VMA4800) or Arlo outdoor power adapter (VMA4900). The wired Arlo Video Doorbell and wired Arlo cameras require continuous power, so Foresight is always enabled. The cameras use a heat sensing techology that does not draw much power, for it to do what you require it has to be streaming video 24/7 - they would not last long doing this on a battery - all full time recording devices that have recordings before the motion is detected will be on power support or have to be charged daily perhaps. Yes there is a delay as the camera goes from heat detected to waking up and recording. Otherwise the Foresight is before motion or movement is detected - I have a device that's like this, and it's powered.

Can someone with knowledge on this particular issue answer this --> If I don't get a subscription plan, is it true that I cannot access my video recordings from outside the home or "off network" rendering the arlo 3 only useful when i'm at home? Or am I still able to view the security feed from my work office for example?

probably the most important question that actually matters. It's a shame youtube reviewers are not interested in answering in their videos actual important questions like this which really should be one of the top 3 concerns anyone should have... instead they try and sell the product by telling you only the good points. It only matters to me what the capabilities are of this product INDEPENDENT of a subscription. Not only do I not want to pay monthly but if the company goes out of business it will likely make the product useless. However in this video, to be fair, I think it does say that it can upload footage to the base unit which stores footage on an sd card. 5:52

Would you suggest buying the arlo pro 3 cameras or the night owl cameras? I'm looking for cameras that record all of the time without paying a monthly fee. I've read alot of angry reviews from customers who realized after their free smart plan was over, they couldn't record all if the time and the cameras have a delayed response in recording. One guy said he left his house and didn't see an alert until he was driving down the road and all he seen was him getting into his car. He said he didn't see any recording of him leaving the house or anything. Kind of pointless system in my opinion unless your paying $19.99 a month for continuous video recording.

I would not recommend. I have to restart the base station every other day when I find out it stopped recording events. This really is almost every other day. I just cannot let it be alone, because it stops recording. Very frustrating. Just this morning, last recording was from 17 hrs ago. What if something happened overnight? After I restart the base station, it works perfectly, but no more that for 2 days.

But sometimes I look at the app after not seeing any notifications, and the still image in the app shows last image of video and in the upper left corner it may say 8hr, which is the last time it recorded anything. Normally it will say 1 min, or more, because there is always people walking and cars driving. And when it does say higher number hours , like 8hr, I can't even view the camera live without restarting the base station.

The 4000 model Pro 2 base station is compatible with the Pro 3 cameras. You lose the tracking feature though. Although I am wondering if I'm getting the full 2K resolution with using the Pro 2 base station. Says it's streaming in 2K and I have local 2K storage but I wonder if the dedicated Pro 3 smart hub will somehow give me better 2K video 🤔

I'm on the 3 month trial issue now and so far loving it however I've noticed the outside battery life is lasting significantly less than my cameras inside the house. I've set my perimeter settings or reactivity setting yet still drains way faster. Another major issue I'm having is my mobile device keeps randomly logging me out and I'm wondering if when it does will I still receive notifications?. And I mean it really just randomly does it and that's the only truly annoying part I have with the app. Other than that I do love the system and that piece of mind that comes with it.

Couldn't figure out if you personally endorse this product, and/or why. Few examples of exterior vision quality. Not clear if you have to pay for a subscription regardless. Does the hub require splitting frequencies on your modem, meaning does it need to operate on its own frequency? Can you download its app to your computer, or just your cell phone? I assume the system is wire free, and not just wireless; big difference! What about the warranty? You left a lot of critical info out for a review. All things considered, way too pricey form just two cameras.

Arlo Pro 3 no longer has a FREE Base service for 7 day recording. You must have a monthly subscription in order to record. On the other hand, Arlo Pro 2 and older models still continue to enjoy 7 day Basic Service for FREE. Very disappointed that Arlo is doing this to new devices.
