Nice review on the Wasserstein products. FYI, if you're using the wall mounted swivel Wasserstein mount with the Arlo Camera, the round serrated lock nut will not work with the Arlo Solar Panel. I had this problem when I installed my solar panel. I agree with your argument that Arlo's accessories are way more expensive than Wasserstein. Wasserstein has really great accessories with a reasonable price. Thanks for sharing.

Arlo accessoires are more expensive for a reason. My experience with Wasserstein is that it sells low priced low quality products. My Arlo camera's deserve better than that.

I have the mounts, and ghillie. They are all good. The ghilile strings can blow in front of the lens, so just tie them back a bit. I put some oil on the threads of mounts, where the thicker flange part is, just because they seem to be aluminum alloy, and I want the threads to be smoother when turning. Tip: When removing the camera from the mount for charging, don't unscrew the camera. If you are on a ladder, it might be easy to cross thread the stem/camera connection when putting it back on. Unscrew from the thicker mount stem.

Hi Life Hackster, does the plug on the weatherproof micro USB cable plug into the back of the camera without interference from the knurled tightening knob on the outdoor security mount? BTW, thanks for all of the great videos!

@@LifeHackster, thanks for the quick reply! Also, thanks for all of the great videos! I've spent HOURS watching them in the last few weeks. Trying to decide whether to install four Floodlight Cams or an Arlo Pro 2 setup with five cameras and power supplies so I can use all of the features. I've already got a Ring Doorbell and I like it a lot (will probably like it more when I install an Eero mesh system to improve the internet bandwidth available to the doorbell), so going with the Floodlight Cams would be easy except for the wiring, but that would only be a one time pain. Thought I'd made my mind up several times, and then end up back watching your videos rehashing my decision again. You've probably answered this previously, but if you had to pick between 4 Floodlight Cams or a 5 camera Arlo Pro 2 system with power supplies, which way would you jump? Thanks again!

I just set up my 5 camera Arlo Pro 2 system this weekend. 3 of the cameras are on cables. I love it not worrying about batteries having to be changed. The other 2 cameras are camouflaged and down low where I can easily replace the battery. Set up was a breeze and resolution is fantastic - comments about the excellent resolution are the first thing out of anyone's mouth that I show the recorded videos to. I ordered only what I thought I would need of the Wasserstein accessories to start with - as you can spend way too much buying more than you need before you start the set up. I figured I could order more items later if I needed them. To my delight, what I ordered was just perfect for the way I installed the cameras. I ordered white skins, black skins, 2 16' cables, and a visor silicone hood with attached screw tail from Wasserstein. I ordered 2 articulating clamps and a screw tail (no silicone skin) from another seller. That's all I needed to put the whole system up. I am thrilled with the system, the set up and the accessories. I will order the security chains as soon as I figure out how to use them to secure my set up - as none of my mounts are screwed in and only one is magnetic, which is placed on the back of my satellite TV dish - my home is totally brick with very little wood. As a senior woman I find putting screws into the brick, even with a hammer drill and proper bits impossible. So I found other great ways to mount the cameras. I have seen Wasserstein accessories reviewed and they get better ratings than some of Arlo's similar accessories. So I buy Wasserstein accessories.
@LifeHackster6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your setup. Their security chain is a pretty good idea. Installing anything on bricks without drilling is a challenge.

On the outdoor mount when screwing the Arlo in, does the screw part you hold and twist to tighten block where the power chord goes into the Arlo?

The only thing I don’t like about these battery operated cameras is the fact that you have to change the batteries every couple of months. I had to return my Arlo and I ended up getting the Armorax camera, the outdoor one, it’s not battery operated, but it has a better picture quality and does everything I need from a security camera.

ARLO ( by NETGEAR ) was a great solution for your ( home ) security. I mean it was basically the best system by far. ( so far the good news ) Since the company runs solo ( not under the protective wing of NETGEAR ) the major mistakes are just piling up. Their first pushed update ruined the base station. When confronting ARLO to their faulty update by following their support channels, they just simply push you around. NO SERVICE IS GIVEN WHATSOEVER. I have spoken to 3 different support agents and 3 times ARLO admitted the problem and 3 times they were going to send a new base station. At the end of the day ARLO did nothing but making false promisses. ( you do not have to believe me , I screenshotted every conversation so I have proof ) So what is happening is that you payed a lot of money for a working product, ARLO ruins it and no service is given to make sure your security sistem is up and running again. My advice, stay as far away as possible from ARLO devices. NO SUPPORT AND UNITS THAT CAN BE FAULTY AT ANY TIME. Spread the word
@LifeHackster6 жыл бұрын
Arlo is notorious for messing up their app everytime they update it. They do fix it but they should be beta testing it first before releasing to the public. I have no experience in their customer support yet...BTW, they are releasing the Arlo Ultra at the end of the month... it is a $400 camera...one camera and one base station.
@Jan-to8we6 жыл бұрын
Dear Lifehackster, Thank you for taking some time to send me a reply. I do agree that things ( updates in this case ) are not tested very well. Maybe they should consider an expert on ISTQB. Anyway investing in a brand new device looks like a no brainer due to the fact that I am not sure if within a short amount of time they do not mess it all up again. I keep you posted on this matter.

I have the Arlo Pro with three cameras. these cameras are super expensive......in less than a year I'm having problems with the batteries not charging Arlo support and Arlo forums can't give me any answers or replace the cameras or batteries seems lots of people have the same problem of the batteries not holding a charge......yet nobody ever has any answers. the only answers they have are....try swapping the batteries in different cameras and unplug the base station and re plug I'm surprised they didn't tell me to try hitting them or shaking them I had to buy three new batteries and a charging station for parts to swap and troubleshoot so far in a week of swapping parts and watching battery levels......two of the cameras seem to be holding at 100% but one is slowly draining and not recharging all my cameras are hard wired outside so they should be charging all the time I'm not happy with Arlo Support or their over priced product. do not recommend them
@uuuu2605 жыл бұрын
Netgear has made it almost impossible to use other brands for things having to do with power. Through software I’ve heard that Netgear shows cameras as not charging due to the accessory not being supported. Try removing your camera that doesn’t accept a charge and plug it in via the wire and power adapter that you received with your Arlo cameras to see if they charge. I’ll bet you that it’s due to Netgear being greedy and using their software

Yes, it needs to be "armed"..it doesn't need the alarm to go off...you can customize what happens when the camera senses motion or sound... you can set it just for the camera to record and to send you a notification...and not the alarm.

Wasserstein products are cheap crap. A waste of money. I had a Wasserstein wall mount based on a suction cup system. It took less than 1 minute to come of from a glass window. Result a huge crack in my brand new Arlo pro. After sending many emails including a damage report including photo's they were so generous to refund my money after I had to spend some additional cost on shipment. Never again Wasserstein for me!

I can't imagine anyone entrusting any camera to a suction cup mount, no matter who makes or sells it!
@erikv25024 жыл бұрын
@@utuber1000 It is the producer who has to guarantee the quality of the product not the consumer. Suctions cups can work fine on smooth surfaces, this camera would only hang 10cm above my garage roof attached to a smooth surface, unfortunately before I could position it above the roof, it fell already on the ground due to a suction cup made of very cheap uneven plastic. So I stay far away from the brand Wasserstein.
