Probably one of the best ski explanation lessons. That looks like Serre Chevalier in France with all the trees. I remember doing a day trip from Les Deux Alps with the ski operator there ages ago.

Great spotting Paul. Yeah @serrechevalier is a lovely spot for skiing. What did you think to Les Deux Alps? Are you heading back there this year?

Super advice for my mom!, She has some tension issues in her upper body, and needs to be more relaxed, You have several other good ski lessons to address those issues. Also as a more experienced skier I have found and tested a few of your lessons and found them really good. Thx for all your good ski videos :-)

I found this video particularly useful and its true what you say about the arm positioning being correct, giving you two for the price of one. I had a lesson in one of the fridges in the UK to keep my eye in, as I've only been on skis for 2 weeks, and they made me do an exercise where I had to ski with one pole and pass it behind my back and then pole plant. As soon as I had both arms/hands behind my back (to pass the pole) I felt very much in the back seat. With both hands in front it gives a much stronger stance. Many thanks for all the excellent videos

MDM resort studied in February last season with an instructor, the plow managed to master the turns in the plow, and the winter was over. This season I tried it - it didn’t work, I came across a canal, remembered it, learned to traverse, and learned how to turn on parallel skis. I'm going to China for the new year at the MDM resort Thank you so much p.s. any1 in 2019?

My favorite videos to watch anytime before hitting up a run...great to see the new updates! Hello Darren! Would be great to see more angles in the first-person for some of the other videos (clutch/accelerator, for instance). Sometimes it takes a couple of replays just to make sure I'm mirroring the positions correctly on my end...cheers from Alpine Meadows! El Niño has blessed California with "Happy Days" again...

I began skiing this season and when I began doing blue runs with moguls I felt an insane thigh burn! this is probably the reason, I think I was skiing on the backseat! cant wait to go back to the mountain and murder those moguls from top to bottom without taking breaks.

What about holding both pole horizontally in front of you? Like both poles in each hand?
@skng
@skng Жыл бұрын
Hey @Pat. We often find that when people hold the poles horizontally together it makes them want to twist their upper bodies. Like they're 'hanging on' and pulling themselves around with the poles. If we keep the hands independent or ideally no poles, then it allows you to just focus on a calm upper body position. Does that help? Cheers, Noddy.

I have never got a lesson on skiing but when i ski my quads and my thighs burn like crazy. I also realize that my poles are way behind me body. Is this why my legs hurt?
@hudsonquay
@hudsonquay 7 жыл бұрын
Quads burning is often due to skiing 'in the back seat' i.e. your centre of mass is too far back, almost like a partial squat. Flex at the ankle rather than the knee and follow the tips in this video to get your centre of mass further forward. Skiing in the back seat is probably the most common problem for beginner to intermediate skiers, especially on steeper terrain.

Skiing is a Really easy thing to learn if taught correctly so people can understand and remember. What he showed was correct. The skis were designed to turn. A golf club was designed to hit a ball. What you have to do is position your body and change your weight to allow the equipment to work. When you are skiing you should be thinking of this. You are standing bon the pedals of a bicycle and you want to pedal the bike straight down the hill. You keep your hands on the handle bars and point the front tire to the bottom. To pedal, you think of taking your weight OFF of one pedal after the other. When you remove your weight it's like cutting a notch in a tree and the tree/you, begin to fall over. This makes the ski you are standing on roll over onto the inside edge and the ski turns. When the ski turns as far as you want it to, you take your weight off that turning ski and you will fall over again and the weighted ski will turn. This is how you modify the radius of the turn to slow down by making the turn tighter with another analogy. You walk up to a bar and stand between two Barstools to order a drink. You face the bar and put you hands on the brass rail. The bartender is taking too long to get your drink so you decide to rest against one of the barstools. You take your weight off your Right foot, lift your Right cheek and set in on the edge of the Right Barstool. By lifting you cheek you are forcing your upper body to stay vertical and not lean into the turn. By sliding over to that Barstool, you are forcing your leg to lay over which puts the weighted ski hard on it's edge. As your cheek gets sore and you want to change, you set your Right foot down, take the weight off the Left foot, lift your Left cheek and set it on the edge of the Left Barstool. You have just done carved, Barstool Christies. That, is how easy it is to ski. Position your body and change your weight and the skis will turn. This video describes the ski teaching videos on KZbin except for Lito's. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4TMm3VvYq2qbck

Is it bad to just ski straight down on easier slopes?

Occasionally straight lining down a slope can be fun, but easier slopes are a good opportunity to hone your skiing skills, especially carving.

It would be better if they teach someone who doesn't know how to ski while they preach their techniques. If you are super good out of anything you always make it seem easy to do. So therefore I don't find these videos very helpful when applying it on a slope with a lot of people around you. Professional guys on an empty slope makes it look too easy.
