Arm for Battle Upgrade | 10 Cards to Replace for Under $20 [Commander Legends Precon Deck]

In this video, Joel discusses the new Commander preconstructed deck, Arm for Battle, a deck that will be released alongside Commander Legends, in mid November. These decks are well-tested and are good right out of the box, but what's great about Magic the Gathering, is it is a customizable card game. Joel discusses 10 cards that he would replace first, for under $20, that would make the deck better and more consistent without breaking the bank. Wyleth, Soul of Steel is a great way to draw cards, as long as you have a good mix of auras and/or enchantments attached to it. Let's maximize that and replace sub-optimal cards to make this deck competitive! We are going to go over all of the updates/upgrades/revamps. Check out the video. It would be great if you threw some more expensive cards into these videos. I love the idea of the cheaper budget deck upgrades. But while your at it, add a list of cards we can add no matter their cost. Kick that power lvl up a bit! Great content as usual.

I wonder if anyone has ever thought about running obsidian battle-axe with Wyleth? +2/+1, grants haste, and it'll autoequip to Wyleth every time he comes into play and let him swing immediately to boot.

I feel like a big issue with the base deck is that too much of the equipment is focused on keywords, specifically trample, when Wyleth has trample intrinsically. Lots of gear in the deck provides several keywords, which you are paying for in the mana cost, but you're only benefiting from in the first instance. It needs more unique equipment effecfs so that each card is bringing its own value.

I have to say 5 cards that helped me win that are fun and budget. 1Colossus hammer if you have anything that lets you equip for free. 2 Zetalpa, Primal Dawn. 3 legion loyalist maybe just my meta but he gets me smashing with through alot. 4 Hellkite charger it's cheap too end extra combat and a dragon. 5 Holy Mantle pro creatures is great.

Chandra's Ignition in the deck is pretty bonkers. If Wyleth has lifelink, you gain all that life. Not to mention that Wyleth will be the only creature left on the board at that point so you can get in a free attack.

The warrior/equipment route seems like the best way to go about building him, both vulshock battlemaster and kazuul's toll collector are cards that could be honorable mentions for this list.

So mask of memory is a terrible card in this deck imo. Wyleth doesn't have to connect to draw cards, so this effect is a huge miss. Auriok steelshaper is a much more interesting choice if you ask me. You should've put embercleave on your watch list because it's going to get a big reprint soon in a challenger deck. I've had amazing success with this commander and it's very powerful

I think commander as a whole has a problem with removal. I have sat down with people I dont know that claim their decks powerful just to watch the entire table crumble to removal. Commander players focus only on synergy, and because of this they sacrifice answers. I see that happening here. Sacrificing removal for synergy isnt the best way to build a deck. You need a balance of both. And maybe throw a brother a bone and in your next video consider eating a hot fudge sundae while wearing a latex body suit.

A casual game of commander is about a slugfest. Cedh has plenty of removal, answers, and combos.

I only want one card out of this deck, the red land with the False God on it, Memorial of War. Swiftfoot is okay, until someone plays Archetype of Endurance. " Creatures you control have hexproof. Creatures your opponents control lose hexproof and can't gain hexproof" Another card I want to put in the Reap the Tides
