This is definitely my type of ship, unfortunately I am really far from obtaining her... Especially after the weekend I just had, I feel like everyone is doing more damage than me no matter what class of ship I use. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, maybe I need to go back down in tiers.

@@tommymattke291 I just started playing last month and my biggest problem seems to be awareness. I often lower my speed to stay with the cruisers and battleships but once we make contact I increase speed and dump smoke (If DD) or simply try to get within my firing range and after I die I see my team mates had long abandoned me. It's pretty infuriating but I find there was better team work when I was in the tier II ships.

On consol the scharnhorst is popably one of the best ships in the game she has a extremely high pen at all ranges she has a really good HE she is extremely fast and maneuverable and with her torpedoes you can easily clear half of the map and still got half of your hp left because her armor is really good and there are no CV in the game yet so your only problem are HE spemmers and destroyers

Scharnhorst was an absolute beast when it came down to most battleships and battle cruisers of her day, she and her sister Gneisenau were in a sense, a second Bismarck class, but more powerful in outright arms terms, although she had less affective guns, she had torpedo tubes, amazing secondary weapons, among other factors, or her time, she was a great ship, another great ship that isn't much talked about is the Admiral class, like Admiral Graf Spree, or Admiral Hipper, although not able to take on the liking's of HMS King George the Fifth, or HMS Hood (If Hood would've survived), they were still good at guarding bigger ships, like the Scharnhorst class, the H class (Such as H-41 if she were built), or the Bismarck class, and help them counter smaller cruisers and destroyers, she had a decent array of weapons, along with torpedo's, so both her, the rest of the Admiral class, and Scharnhorst, and Gneisnau were amazing ships, all of them over shadowed by the fame of Bismarck, another less famous ship to note; KMS "The Lonely Queen of the North" Tirpitz.

The Epic Bunny I personally love the fast turning, fast firing guns of my scharnhorst. they might lack the sheer firepower of high caliber battleship guns, but I've had no problem at all citadeling enemy battleships at close range, and I can get off two salvos before an enemy battleship can reload for their second. overall, I much prefer having a lot of mid caliber guns over a few high caliber ones, it allows for more efficient engagement of multiple or small targets. the scharnhorst really is a good ship, but isn't necessarily great for players who want a traditional battleship with heavy armor and high caliber guns.

They're situationally better for dealing with CA's, since you're less likely to see an overpen. Also, the handling is exceptional on the turrets, even without Expert Marksman, and the fire rate is no joke.

I think it's pointing away from the screen, on her starboard side, not directly at said superstructure. I think that's within the firing arc tho, aiming close to forward.

Apathetic Bystanders eh... they're both good ships. traditional battleship players tend to prefer the gneseisu for it's more powerful guns, but I, as a cruiser player, personally prefer the faster firing, faster turning guns of the scharnhorst. I find that the gneseisu is better for brawling with enemy battleships, while the scharnhorst is more effective when engaging multiple smaller targets such as cruisers or destroyers. think of the scharnhorst as a Dunkerque with torpedoes and good secondary armerment, and the gneseisu as more of a traditional battleship but with torpedoes.

the armor comes from a true BB. The guns from a battle cruiser like the speed.

blaster1 112 Battlecruisers usually have BB levels of armament but trade armor for speed. The Scharnhorst is like the antithesis of a true battlecruiser with BB like protection and cruiser like armament, she has none of a battlecruisers defining characteristics.

Its not a pocket battleship. Thats the Deutschland class heavy cruisers, which were designated as Panzerschiff-armored ship, and in 1940 redesignated as CAs, but pocket battleship was a popular name in press at the time.

MaxCroat the scharnhorst class battleship was never refered to as a pocket battleship, however, pocket battleship was close to the classification of battlecruiser. Pocket battleship was more of an unofficial term used to describe a class of ship which was somewhere in between a battleship and a heavy cruiser, similar to a battlecruiser. It's worth noting that while the term pocket battleship was typically used to describe the deutschland class heavy cruiser, the scharnhorst class was often classified as a battlecruiser by some navies due to it's light armerment and high speed compared to other battleships. There is some contrast here between classic British battlecruisers which had high speed, big guns, and relitively weak armor, and the scharnhorst which had weaker guns, but strong armor and a high speed.
