Despite everything that’s come, Des Moines is still a really fun heavy cruiser to play when facing any warship type, shreds planes like a pro among heavy cruisers, haunts destroyers and light cruisers with the advantages of both heavy and light cruisers, pummels heavy cruisers, and flippin melts battleships.

New Orleans is easily better then the Pensacola.. but the Baltimore.. its like night and day fires faster, better tools and armor. Love my Baltimore. Didn't keep the Pensacola or the New Orleans but the Balt is worth keeping, and of course the DM is amazing. Make sure you get concealment upgrades though or youll die quickly

PancakePredator it is OP, as the current ships and teiring stands, you have a post WW2 cruiser which has double the RoF of the opposing nation [IJN] ships, of which the Zao is a year '44 prototype. As it stands, there are no incentives to play any IJN ship at all.

Tasche CJK Not exactly. IJN cruisers have very powerful torpedo suites and they are faster. If you can get close enough to a Des Moines with, for example, an Atago, you can launch 8 fast and deadly torpedoes per side. Yeah you won't come out unscathed but you'll lay out the hurt.

+Bruno Paradis that's why it's not a brawling ship, keep a distance,about 10-14 km and you are OP. The American cruisers are the best in game, their so good the soviet tech tree has one, the Murmansk which was the USS Milwaukee until it was sold to the Russians. The only American cruiser that's not amazing is the Baltimore but it's decent at least. So yeah

I main cruisers and was trying for a lo g time.for Des Moines. Loved the Buffalo (she was a citadel shredder for me) but, my Des Moines has a reload of 4.8 seconds thanks to my build for her. Great fun to plzy. At distance (15 km) I can gwt almost three vollies in the air before the first one hits.

Those torpedoes are from back when RTS CV gameplay still exist. The torpedo hit Des Moines before it is armed so it just "disappeared" and did not do any damage.

There is no such thing as the "Pocket Battleship". It's simply the Admiralty's and media's nickname for the Panzerschiffe. Which are armored cruisers for all intents and purposes, whether it be in name (Armored ship/armored cruiser) or in design.

Danceymetal Hindenburg is more versatile and gets longer range better gun velocity, but it’s very vulnerable to long range fire. Dank memes is a dps god with lower shell velocity higher gun arcs for island camping and super heavy ap shells plus she gets the best as suite for cruisers in the game, take your pick.

I have the Des Moines, and I have to admit that I’m not really impressed with it. I’ve had better results with my Tier 6 Cleveland. Yes, it’s quite the powerhouse when it comes to its firepower, but one blow by a Tier 9 or 10 battleship and you’re scrambling for repair. The narrator mentioned the Zao. My experience against the Zao indicates the Zao has longer reach than the Des Moines, as do all the BBs. All said, care should be taken when sailing this ship.
