Good interview with most likely one of the biggest intellectuals among artists. Open, sincere, non-pretentious, educated, experienced willing to share personal thoughts. It is almost like a life master class to watch and hear A. Assante. Great job.

''There are no rules , there're no parameters , no feelings , there're no feelings '' That Gotti film was absolutely out of this world . Especially if you know about the actual story it makes it so much better . I'm 18 none of my friends or people around me in general are into the italian-american mob and that era so I have no one to talk to about that stuff but it's so fascinating . Every little detail in that film is so well done it's crazy to me . And after watching this interview I gained so much respect for Armand Assante as a person as well , besides the ridiculously good actor that he is . Also crazy I randomly rewatched Gotti the day this interview was premiering without knowing it , 4 days later I click on this title , thank you so much Pete for doing this , hope you have more of these in the future .

Armand Assante is one of the most if not the most underrated Actor in the past 4 decades, and I mean that in the most respectful way toward him. The performance he put on in Gotti - like Pete said his mannerisms, his flair and dramatics - I don't believe John Gotti could play himself as good as Armand did. A true living legend amongst us, his performances are just outstanding, I would put him up against any actor role for role, this man is just the definition of what a real actor should emulate. God Bless and all the best energy to Armand, Pete and he rest of the crew amazing interview as well.

Mr. Assante has always been one of my favorite stars and I had the waitress bring him a drink only expecting a wave hello from the space between us. To my surprise he invited me over and even in the face of my insistence not to invade his privacy, he made me sit and chat with him. In 1996 when Gotti came out I was 17 years old and already a film buff since even before age ten when I started my movie collection (back then they were on VHS tapes) I was also big time into mafia movies. When Gotti came out on tape I went to the rental store to rent it but this was before blockbuster and the rental stores only had one copy, someone rented that one copy and never returned it lol. I remember wanting to see it so bad, Eventually I rented it at a different store and was blown away by this movie, it definitely went up there in my top 5 mob movies of all time, The Godfather 1-2, Goodfellas, Casino, Gotti. When I Re-watched Gotti again when I was older (I have the DVD in my mafia movies collection) by the way you said no one has anywhere to see this movie, I guess nowadays everyone thinks streaming is the only way to watch a movie, you can simply go to amazon and by the DVD, they have the movie with the subtitle - Gotti: The Rise and Fall of a Real Life Mafia Don. When I watched this movie as an adult I was blown away again not only by the movie but by Armand Assante's fearless performance, This was a small movie made for HBO not a big budget movie but Armand Assante's performance is one of the best performances of all time as john Gotti and the thing is alot of people don't even know it exists, Armand Assante gives a fearless performance very similar to Marlon Brando's performance in A Streetcar Named Desire which is the best performance in film history, Brando is 100% fearless, he doesn't care about anyone or anything in that performance and that is power. It's insane to watch and very rare to see, even great actors sometimes don't give a performance like that their whole career, of course Brando did it about 4 times, maybe more but never like he did in Streetcar, well Armand Assante gives what is reminiscent of Brando's fearless performance, the character doesn't have a care in the world, he is so powerful he does what he wants, that is a treat to see from an actor and that's when you know an actor has talent, of course its so rare I don't think it was ever duplicated from Assante, but the whole cast fit together like a puzzle piece, when I watch the real Sammy the bulls KZbin videos I don't even think of him as Sammy the bull I think of William Forsythe, these actors were so good I think they played Gotti and Sammy better then they could have play themselves, Anthony Quinn worked with Brando in Viva Zapata! as for the Travolta Gotti movie, there is other Gotti movies made, I realize Armand Assantes Gotti is the premier Gotti movie so I didn't mind another Gotti movie but the Travolta movie was horrible, the only decent thing was Travolta himself as Gotti, he gave a decent performance but if you compare it to Armand Assante's performance as Gotti Travolta's is gonna look second rate.

Armand was brilliant in Gotti. But my favorite performance from Armand was when he played Odysseus in the NBC tv miniseries 'The Odyssey' back in the mid to late 1990's.
