3 Minute Review: UDAP Bear Spray and Test Fire

This is my 3 Minute review of the 7.9 ounce UDAP Bear Spray. I also test fire it from different distances to show how effective it is at 30, 20, and 10 feet. Keep in mind that even the slightest breeze can completely change how well bear spray works. As an extra warning, do not play around with bear spray and make sure you have read all of the warning labels and product information.

This is the brand they sold/I bought when @ Denali National Park in Alaska. Brought me peace of mind since I was solo hiking. I did have an old coworker/native Alaskan, whose friend was killed in front of him by a grizzly. I will be doing some solo camping in about a week & plan to have this with me.

They may be rare, but I bought my spray in Yellowstone (mistake 2x the price) but a guy was mauled a couple hours later and had to be life flighted

Can it be re used , I mean it is a CO2, so once it’s broken seal it won’t hold pressure

So, is it safe to assume that you were not spraying into the wind? That would cut down the effectiveness to maybe 10ft if a bear were rushing at you and the wind was not on your side (not to mention maybe getting sprayed yourself :-( ) Just a guestimate.

Got a large pit bull sometimes just let loose by the doofus owner on my block. Shame I had to spend money on this just for that. Should cause him an expense when it comes time to move out. ( but dang, I have costco and I didn't know I could've gotten 2 for the price of 1 )

Thanks. I was curious how effective it's range was but I only have one can and I don't want to use it. Any idea how long it can spray? Continuously before it runs out?

It varies a bit with each brand but roughly 4-5 seconds with a 7.9 oz can.

ARE YOU KIDDING?????? YEs, if it can stop a bear, what do you think? lol. Pepper spray for humans has no range at all and small pattern, people are now carrying bear spray becuase of how much it puts out
