@@ArmedSteadyFirearmsChannel Yea...Tacti-tards is a good description!! I am an old school 1911 fan. BUT have a question 22lr defensive round, what is your opinion on this round. I have deep concerns of a 9mm or 45 round going through a wall and hitting a person behind it!! On this I am deeply worried about!! A response is reall desired!! I am an AF (retired) maintainer!! Crew Chief on A-10's LONG LIVE THE HAWG!! My "gun" had wings!!!! LOL!!
@JohnSmith091234 жыл бұрын
@@Odinsjewl I would say focus on shot placement if you are going to use 22lr as a home defense round, but would tell you to go up to a 223/5.56, hollow point round, because the .223/5.56 bullet diameter is the same diameter of a .22, and loses a lot of velocity once it hits a wall if you are using hollow point rounds. However if you don't feel comfortable using a rifle for home defense, you could always go with a pistol caliber carbine, chambered in your favorite self defense round, and use that with the stability of a rifle.
@MuzzleFlash-loves-ginger-ale3 жыл бұрын
@@Odinsjewl Unless you got REALLY thin wall or a lot of wall made up of weak material a 9mm hollow point will not go throw a wall. And even if it somehow does it will be broken up in to fragments and pieces which won't have enough power to do any real damage to someone IMO.

Great video. My last gun purchase I was gabbing with the salesman and he asked me if I was going to take my new pistol to the range and shoot. I replied that I like to clean mine up first before I put rounds through it. He than proceeded to tell me that he never cleans his ostils and just shoots them until they malfunction. I looked at him incredulously and said “are you serious, dude?” He kind of backpedalled a little bit when he saw my expression, I think. I just hope he wouldn’t tell a person buying there first firearm to never clean it. Just my two cents.

My favorite is when people tell me a 1911 is no good because it requires a higher level of maintenance (in my experience it does not). And the low capacity isn’t “tactical”. But I win most of the time on the dueling tree. Then they proceed to say an ar15 is a professionals weapon and requires a higher level of maintenance. And I’m like🧐🧐🧐 for the record, I train frequently by myself and monthly with a large group with a ruger ar556 and rock island gi (cyl&slide internals). I’m a basic pistol, personal protection, and defensive pistol instructor. Usually the only one in the group training with a 1911, they’re waiting for it to jam. I shoot 200gr hardcast swc over unique. Every single round I fire I loaded. I’ve seen many glocks and others malfunction fairly regularly. Sometimes it’s operator induced. But nothing out of my 1911. Don’t hold your breath guys. Its got over 10k rounds down the pipe and is smooth as glass. I guess that’s because it’s not tactical. Shouldn’t have said that. Now it’s going to break the link lol. Tactics are in the tactics. Not in the tools. I’m getting really tired of hearing “I want something tactical”. Most people are completely clueless.

zack9912000 The reason he has his students do that is so if when the police respond to the shooting and you still have it in your hand, that is literally the quickest way to show you aren’t the threat. That’s why they yell, “Drop the gun!” There was that security guard that got shot just a few weeks ago after stopping a shooting. I don’t know enough about that situation to say if would have saved him but maybe? I’m the farthest thing from “tactical”. I think in Yeager’s instance, the dropping the gun has merit.
@jdoerr7796 жыл бұрын
zack9912000 Look man. You’re letting your bias get in the way of new information. I am not “making shit up.” You don’t get to attribute bad intentions to people who disagree with you. He has said it in his videos and that is the drill he performs. When they yell, “Drop the gun!” they want you to do it. You do it once and that’s it. I simply don’t understand the extreme hesitation in letting scratches appear on a carry gun. Like I said in my last post, I am not “Tactical”. I carry a 1911 in a leather holster for god sakes. The magwell has some gouges on it from rolling around under my pickup. That is part of life. The slide has holster wear all over it. That is part of life. I keep the thing immaculately clean on the inside. That is also part of life. He wants you to get over the fact that dropping the gun can scrape the hell out of it if it will save your life. NOT for the explicit purpose of mistreating your gear. There is definitely a difference. I’m not arguing for the sake of arguing. I’m pointing out that yes, abusing tools/guns unnecessarily is ridiculous. Getting out of the mindset that your carry gun can’t get scratched is important.

I personally think it's a bad idea to try and catch a dropped gun. If you drop a knife you back up and let it hit the floor. The same should be done with a gun. If you try to catch the gun when it's dropped, a finger inevitably will end up in the trigger guard.

My grandfather taught me at an early age that you should maintain your guns. But I kind of understand why some people like torture test videos, they want to buy guns that can survive torture test. Military and police forces when they open a contract bidding for companies to show their product's, they have certain standards that those guns have to meet. Here on Brazil for example (which isn't a very comprehensive test and the requirements aren't all that severe) Gun has to be drop safe (there were several cases where guns were dropped and fired, and the most critical one, wasn't the cop fault, his holster suddenly broken open and the gun dropped on the floor, discharged and killed him) They have to shoot a certain amount of rounds. I don't remember how many rounds without cleaning and how many rounds it has to survive in overall (while being cleansed and lubricated, this is to see if the gun can survive an X amount of rounds with proper maintenance ) They have to also be able to be used in harsher environments (Since our police force might have to chase bad guys in rivers, forest, muddy area etc and etc) Our police force is part of the army reserve, so their requirements meet the army standards. And some people, might just want a as robust gun, even tho they are maintaining it, they might want a gun that they know would survive all this bullshit, because if it can...Chances of it failing with good maintenance, at a decisive moment, probably are smaller.

I watched every tactical IG and youtube channel you can think of. I thought i was hot shit. My first firearms day where we learned how to clear rooms in the shoot house, our armorer and head instructor (former 5th group) tore me a new asshole. “Hey, Tactical Ted, why dont you slow the fuck down. You’re not gonna be able to hit shit at that speed if you needed to and you’re gonna get killed.” That resonated with me. My point being, slow down, make wise decisions, take care of your piece, and dont walk around like youre the shit because there is always a G that knows more than you, like my armorer and he has taught me a lot through the years.

Okay so i just have to say this..... First off i'm nearly a year late to this party but dude awesome video. Seriously im glad we're having people like you actual ex-combat MOS/warriors speaking out against the Tacticool commandos that have SEVERELY IMPACTED the hobby of firearm ownership. Even if you did do so rather intensely lmao But i gotta say im dissapointed you didnt bring out one of the biggest problems about these guys and thats thier "gear based" approach to combat rather than realistic skills and techniques. For instance a normal guy will have an AR15 with minor internal upgrades an optic of some sort and a flashlight/foregrip that they keep under the bed or in the dresser for home defense. These Tactitools however will advocate dropping thousands of dollars for Sub-MOA upgrades that dont mean dick in CQB scenarios, encourage a suppressor to be slapped on, and insist on using all 4 of the rails for upgrades that are not only costly but physically make the weapon less effective via weight or snagging onto walls/fabric. Then there's the douche bags that make blanket statements like "Never buy a gun with a safety" as if flicking a tiny switch up with one hand is some how more difficult than in the heat of a moment racking a slide with two or less safe than keeping a live and ready pistol with no safety in your jeans. Anyway brother i hope you see my comment and can elaborate on what i said with your touch.

Carry it as my beater EDC in the winter. It is very dependable. And it is dependable and reliable. Because I keep up the maintenance on it. Clean it and oil it every time I go to the range religiously. No exceptions And take it apart once a year and clean it as well as check all springs and replace as needed. Just like my other guns. Found this video while looking up why so many in the gun community are obsessed with being tactical and what it means. To my understanding tactical was having a plan and the skills to execute it while staying calm and being able to adjust under pressure. The word seems to have come to just mean "stuff." And the cooler that stuff looks, the better. I think a lot of people are reluctant to admit how much looks matter. Another thing with all the tactical stuff is the training. Yes it's important, but at the same time I wonder what war zone some people think they're going to find themselves in. I think something you could touch on is that a lot of these channels are run by people that shoot in competitions. Their wants or needs far outweigh that of most viewers. I find it's those channels I would run into first when looking something up. To your point about the "tacticult" I think one of the best "tactical" channels on KZbin is 'Active Self Protection.' The videos highlighted on that channel are all nightmare scenarios that happen everyday around the world. No situation ever plays out looking "tactical," even when there's people in them who're trained for those situations. It all just highlights things I remember being told over time. That it's better to be not seen than to fight. Mind your surroundings. Best way to live through a survival situation is to first not find yourself in one. Mind your surroundings. When facing a threat you're always at a disadvantage because you're reacting to it. Mind your surroundings.

Was right there with you, we got yelled at by some armors in Babylon, because our bolt carried groups had almost lost all their bluing from cleaning them about twice a day.

Thank you. I never served but was raised in military family that took the time to teach me actual tactics. Now I have these punk asses that that use military surplus like it's Walmart trying to tell me what I'm doing wrong. It's funny ,but a little scary too.

You said it all when you said firearms need to be maintained properly! I've owned, used, enjoyed a bunch of different types of firearms over the years and the one thing they all had in common was that I maintained them per the manufacturer written owner's manual. Yep, take care of your firearms and they will take care of you. Great video!

I took my buddy shooting a couple weeks ago to kill some paper and test his some what new AR pistol. He had it for a few months and fired it a couple times. He put a mag through it just fine. On the second or third we started having failures to eject double feeds all that. He thought it was his cheap pro mag and GI 20rd mag just being trash but the same thing happened with my old GI's, pmags and D60. He said he cleaned it after each time shooting, so I think nothing of it and mention it could be a grass problem. We use his and my mags, steel case and brass ammo in both his and my ar platforms. I'm doing good no malfunctions and hes stopping every couple shots to clear his. On the way back to town he wanted to take it in to the gun shop and see what they say. The guy pulls out the BCG and it is covered in carbon like you can't believe. He ask when he cleaned it last and my buddy said never because he didn't now how to take it apart. I look at him just flabbergasted like is that even possible to not know? Being former Marine and a gun nut I try to clean every inch of my guns and take them apart as soon as I get a new one. If I knew he didn't clench the BCG before I'd have taken the time too strip and give it wipe down on the range but that didn't hit me at the time.

I am so ocd, after every range section, i clean my glock and 1911. My philosophy is simple, if I shoot the gun, I have to clean it before storing. And yea, so far they have always been excellent when ready to use because they are getting cleaned and lubricated regularly
@jpc123ful6 жыл бұрын
Hell yes. About time somebody called this shit out. There was one video out there that these guys fired a 1911 underwater and said it was weak because the barrel burst...jesus. By the way where do I get one of those t-shirts?

Armed & Steady Firearms Channel LOL!! There are some things I see them do, and think, "do that in reality, and see what happens!" God bless all of us Vets brother. My day we only went to the range once a year to qualify, we cleaned our weapons, and back into the arms room they went. My class even skipped bayonet training due to weather during basic training. We were in for a sad, terrible lesson on our first deployment, where we learned real quick, regardless of our MOS, we were all basic rifleman.

LOL. That standing on your wounded buddy was too much. I flashed back to old westerns where the cavalry guys would shoot their horse to create a bullet stop. I pictured a guy shooting a couple of his buddy's and going prone behind their bodies. I know, I have a sick sense of humor. But in my defense, it actually makes more sense than that drill:).

I've never understood the torture tests some of these "supposed" internet gun Guru's insist on doing to their weapons. Just shows to me they have much more money than brains, and a total lack of respect for their property. Especially the MAC channel and Iraqveteran8888. It's maddening watching them destroy perfectly good, usually brand new weapons as if anyone would ever allow that to happen to their guns.
@pliskenx51mm835 жыл бұрын
The Busterdog Don't forget Forgotten Weapons. His mud tests drive me to drinking. Cause every weapon that fails he has to include a 10 minute tirade about why its inferior to an AR15. Literally turning a blind eye to other areas that certain weapon may excel in thereafter because it choked up on some mud.

I agree with this video. I can't find any sense on those torture test videos on firearms because most of the time gun fights occur in dry conditions. There are low chances of getting your firearm in the mud. Last but not the least, you really have to maintain your weapons. It doesn't matter if its 1911 or Glock.
