You should do a diy ifak video. Also an updated shtf or ww3 load out video. Your loadout videos are my favorite videos on KZbin its very calming hearing Someone with war experience give advice and it’s not the typical zoomer mega consumer bs that says you gotta buy night vision and 5k worth of tactical gear to survive

This is a fantastic video. I just got a Rock Island 1911 and I haven't fired it yet but I want to make sure I can take care of it before I do and this answered I think all of my questions. Much appreciated, once the thinner grips come in I'm going to go break it in. Should be fun.

I’m left handed but what’s weird I do the same thing you do. But yes my clip came with the gun and is perfectly awesome for it and got 3 more clips like it. I oil my 1911 enough and like you said ppl don’t understand it

I have two 9mm (glock 19 gen 5, Shadow Systems MR920), a Colt 1911 45ACP, a shotgun, and an AR15. I'm good.

Yes, semi-autos are ‘better’ but plenty of people leave their ‘best‘ guns at home. A 5 shot revolver (Ruger LCR) can weigh as much as a smartphone with a case, compared to a 15 round micro compact 9mm (with spare magazine, kydex holster system and belt) pushing 3 or 4 times that weight. It prints less (with boot grips) and can be shot from contact & concealment (defensive distances). As a *civilian*, shot placement is critical since every shot will have to be justified in court.

One major reason for a full-size pistol: the ability to get a full firing grip in the holster. I can do it with a 1911. I can do it with a Glock 17. I can't do it with a SIG P365. I can do it with a J-frame S&W or other snubbie, because the revolver's cylinder and the shape of the grip create a bit more clearance from my body.

Just so everyone knows. They are made in Turkey. They don't state where they are manufactured on their site. They did respond to my enquiry letting me know that, have to give them that. Not that it's a bad thing, their just a little misleading with it. It makes sense, A US made leather holster would be three times as much from a name brand maker.

I don’t know if you’ll see this comment four years later, but what I wish you had done is show us how it conceals. holsters are expensive and I really don’t wanna waste my money on something. That’s not gonna work well. The leather aspect is indisputable 1911 have to go in leather. Back in the day when I was carrying the best option you had was a pancake holster. (40 years ago). now that I live in a state that allows concealed carry without a permit. I’m looking for something that really is optimal for a full size 1911 conceal carry (other than a shoulder holster) all that being said, based on what you’ve said about the Masters, I’ve taken a chance and purchased this holster. It would’ve been really helpful though if you had shown it on your person.

Thank you for your military service sir .. much respect 🇺🇸👍 Question: I’m interested in Bullseye/NRA Precision Pistol, what is the common 1911 round you typically see on the range of such practitioners .. 230gr ball? Perhaps 200gr ball? Thanks for any tips 👍

If you don't like the safety, don't use it.
@wa1gon24 күн бұрын
I am sorry, but I will never use manual safety. Someone that has 100s of hours to spare building muscle memory is fine, but I don't have that kind of time. I think this is true of most people. I have firearms for self defense. I have been carrying for 20 year without a problem. My wife has for about 10 years with no problem, she rarely has a chance to go to the range. If she needs it for self-defense, the last thing she needs to worry about is turning of the safety.

He makes good points but the safety thing is something that experience really doesn’t matter. I know more than one story and have seen enough old videos even of cops and civilians with very high levels of experience and training with the platform who under duress completely forgot the safety existed and could not get their gun into the fight. Love my 1911s but would never use one for duty or self defense for that reason. I carry a Glock on duty a jframe off duty and have 1911s as mostly range guns.

I just bought my first 1911 and I am so stoked, great video. My 1911 is a Springfield Defender Mil-Spec and it looks like and old WW 2 1911. The sights are pretty cool

Just bought my first hang gun, a Colt 45 1911 XSE. I carry it concealed. It doesnt bother me at all to carry it with the hammer back and thumb safety engaged. However, i just prefer to carry mine half cocked, with a round in the chamber. I think you pull the hammer back as you draw, grip and get a sight. I hold the hammer with left thumb and index to lower the hammer back to half cock. I call it my cannon.

Flipping the safety happens as I unholster before my hands meet. It doesn’t slow me down at all, and is comforting. Even the most experienced people slip up, or something snags. Only has to happen once.

First off, you have to know how to operate how to maintain and practice with the 1911 it’s not for the wannabes or casual people who carry. I’ve been carrying a 1911 since the late 60s for six years when I was in the military I then carried a 1911 for 38 years in law-enforcement. I have also carried a 1911 every single day on duty off duty wherever I am. My 1911s have never repeat never failed to do what they were intended to do not once. I don’t care how much you practice. It’s not enough. I’ve owned two dozen different types from different makers and different price ranges and fired hunters of thousands of rounds spent more time on the shooting range than my wife would like hundreds of hours, taking all kinds of different classes from just paper targets to combat ranges where you do things in the dark in the cold in the snow in the heat with lots of noise and withlots of moving targets. I still don’t think I have enough practice or experience so I’ll be going again later today.

People always make fun of my p238. Baby gun, 1911 that went through the dryer, etc. Bur i can draw it lightening fast from any pocket, holster position. Accurate too. Ita my only gun, so i know nothing of outrr guns besides 22 rifles that i used as a kid. Daily practice dry fire full draw etc. I honestly dont know how peoole are so knowledgeable lol. I just want to be good with i got. The safety in my mind prevents an accidental discharge and i think its worth the extra fraxtion of the sec9nd to disengage.

Good video. I am considering a 1911 as my next purchase. I also saw another gentleman comment on how he carried a 1911 in Viet Nam. I found that interesting because I was reading about the guys that did the "Tunnel Rat" duty in Nam. Those guys carried 1911s when they crawled into those tight spaces looking for Viet Con Soldiers. I think that your video helps a bit when considering a 1911. Thanks

A man after my own heart! I've been watching your 1911 content (just bought my first) and just noticed that you're doing Viking era stuff too. Check out your local renaissance fairs and SCA, you'll find tons of like-minded people. I made my own laminated oak spear shaft last year for my Viking outfit and alternate the spear with a longbow when I visit the fairs. Keep it up!
