My first day in Armenia continued with more exploration of the capital city of Yerevan! Come along with me as I go on an amazing Armenian food and wine tour and go sightseeing in Yerevan!
Armenia Travel: / armeniatravelofficial
Lusine: / guin_dalera
My adventure started at the Mother Armenia statue. She is located at a viewpoint where you can see the entire city and Mount Ararat, which is located in Turkey and is where Noah’s Ark landed.
Neaby is the Eternal Flame. It’s dedicated to the people who lost their lives in World War II. Armenia was part of the Soviet Union at the time. The views over the city are beautiful!
My guide, Gayane, showed me Victory Alley, the alley dedicated to the heroes of WWII. There are big plaques made of volcanic rock called tuff. On the plaques, the names of the heroes are inscribed in both Armenian and Russian.
There’s also lots of Soviet machinery, including a huge divisional gun, a fighter jet, a missile, and a cannon.
From there, we drove a bit and stopped at a statue of Alexander Tamanian, an architect known for his work in Yerevan. There’s also an incredible monument called Cascade, which was made to look like a stone waterfall. There’s also a unique lion sculpture made of tires and a statue of a chubby Roman warrior by Colombian artist Fernando Botero from 1985.
The Cascade has 572 steps and is made of travertine, a type of limestone. There are also beautiful fountains and sculptures there! It’s an empty, calm area that’s free of tourists. You can take escalators to the top and see more plazas, artwork, and fountains along the way. You can get epic views of Yerevan from the top!
Then, we headed to Republic Square and Northern Avenue, where there are lots of restaurants, shops, and retail. There’s a car there that’s also a souvenir shop! Lots of people sign the car, so I did as well.
All around us were beautiful buildings made of orange and rose tuff stone. They included government buildings and the National Gallery. The fountains there dance with the music. Then, we headed to Saryan Street for dinner and wine!
The first wine place that opened there is In Vino. You can buy and drink wine there. One Wine Days, they shut down the street and have a festival! They have Old World, New World, and Armenian wines.
I tried the Alluria, which is made from 2 Armenian grapes. It wasn’t sweet but was very different and had a good body. It was strong and I liked it a lot!
Next, we headed to Wine Time Restaurant. I started with a lighter, delicious, semi-sweet Voskevaz wine. Then, we started with beet root paste with chips, fig paste, grilled peppers with tomato, and dolmas. Dolmas are beef and rice wrapped in grape leaves.
The fig paste on the crispy bread was like a jam. I liked the beet root paste, too! Sour cream with the fig paste had a nice balance of sweet and salty. The dolma with sour cream had more beef than rice, which I liked a lot. Then, I tried eggplant and tomato with an Armenian sour cream called rejan. It’s a dense cream and isn’t too buttery.
I loved the flatbread with the beet root paste as well. It cracks easily, so you have to dig in to get it! Next was a better, drier Voskevaz wine and a delicious grilled tomato!
Next, we stopped at Armat Café Restaurant, an open-air restaurant/wine bar. I had another super strong, full-bodied wine as a nightcap!
I hope you enjoyed coming with me on my Armenian food and wine tour in Yerevan! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave a comment. Also, please subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss any of my upcoming travel/food adventures!

@Yaneggi X you are wrong it's confirmed to be the first nation ever to descend from planet Hayastan and teach humans how to use fire) putting the jokes aside...confirmed by whom? Armenian monks translating Greek texts? or American historians with Armenian surnames(later changed to more Anglo-Saxonian for more neutrality), first Christian nation is considered County/Kingdom of Edessa it was done way before armenians(301,314 or 338 no one knows the exact date) by king Agbar V, he exchanged letters with Jesus and is considered by serious historians to be the first government that accepted Christianity, after him Ethiopians are considered 2nd Christian kingdom ask yourself why Armenian Alphabet resembles Ethiopian so much) stop reading from Wikipedia and watching tik tok videos that's not peer-reviewed and scientific
@AzeriDervish
@AzeriDervish 3 жыл бұрын
@Yaneggi X so? if Britannica wrote it means its ultimate truth? history is often erroneous, same Britannica and most of historian community can not wrap their heads around most of the pre-1500 AD events yet alone "who was first". So please stop posting links to websites that suit your narrative of history and read other sources as well
@AzeriDervish
@AzeriDervish 3 жыл бұрын
@Yaneggi X Officially confirmed by whom? Jesus Christ? or did you travel through eons of human history using time machine and you have hard proof that no one can argue against?! Armenia being first Christian nation is a nice tourist trap, cliché made for people like you, who rely on first page of google searches and tik tok videos to get their historical information, who is the first Christian nation is highly debated in scholarly circles and to be honest not of that historical importance, except for Armenians no one really cares, for Armenians its a matter of "pride", because of current insignificance in politics they try to tell everyone "araaa we are the first Christians". Keep on daydreaming while others are building their countries and economies, keep making fun of Azerbaijan we are already ahead of you in pretty much everything and yeah, you even managed to screw up with Qarabagh and now its back to its real owners)

David, You need to educate yourself on which / when to swirl wine glass. Shouldn't do it all the time. Check wine oxidation. Wines are not supposed to be gulped. Are you really keen to taste wine or just making videos? Think.

The Soviets almost entirely destroyed the wine industry in Armenia and replaced it with brandy production. Good news is that in the last decade the wine industry is blooming again. It has still a long way to go to become a major wine producer but quality is amazing.

The only thing that’s failing is the bullshit your spewing!! Propaganda & hatred?? That’s some nerve!!! You want to talk about hatred & propaganda I have 2 words Armenian Genocide!! But your probably gonna say that this is false propaganda as well right??? Of course!! And failed??? To bounce back & hold on to what was nearly destroyed & thrive!! This is not failure this is indomitability. Armenia is ancient. History is a testament to this fact. The Turkic tribes only gained a foothold in Anatolia in the 8th to 9th centuries!! Before that Anatolia was inhabited by Armenians & Byzantine Greeks. When Armenians were building empires the Turkic tribes were hunting & gathering in Central Asia. But that’s also propaganda right!! Because the Turks were indigenous to Anatolia so obviously everything that comes from that region including dolma...MUST be Turkish.
