May I say thanks for all your great videos. I would mention that I shoot at various types of targets. If I shoot at either a straw boss or rubber mat stack, I have learned to put a small ring of araldite round the base of the point. This makes the arrow much easier to pull out.

Thanks, Armin. I own the Qing and Yarha and love both. I find it much more difficult to tune arrows with the Yarha. Paradox feels more unforgiving. To be fair, I don't have a wide variety of Manchu-length arrows to experiment with, and the Yarha is lower poundage. Both great bows. Maybe one day I will get to shoot the newest one you reviewed.

Armin you have alot to teach and I am very appreciative and thank you for your review of the paragon tartar raider I just got mine from Robert and I love it. Everything that has been said by you, Armin, has proven true. My Yarha is perfect for ME. As a beginner in shooting using thumb release eagle claw and khatra, it is great because though it is a Manchu Style piece, it is not as expensive. Very portable. I prefer your way of doing things when it comes to archery, if I could learn from you in person, I would. That said, all information in your videos is so well covered, that I am successful shooting with this style regardless. Alibow should take you on as a sponsored spokesperson. They are not as known as they could be, eh?

Intriguing ! I wonder how Kyudo bows would stack up against these. Lastly, it would be great to see a comparison with the old Mongolian horse back shooting bows from which a skilled rider could make multiple shots one after the other quite fast. Sorry, don't know the technical names of the other bows I mentioned.

drawing 36" is quite a different experience and it takes some time to get used to. My maximum draw prior to this bow was 32". So I wouldn't really call it a "shooting technique" at this stage, just a learning curve :) . In my defence, I did hit the target, so, not all that bad after all :D

Thank you for the reviews on these. I have been searching for a specific bow and I don’t know if it exists. Not sure if you can think of anything off the top of your head, and I definitely respect your time for helping me out if at all possible. I am specifically looking for a Manchu bow at 80 lbs minimum. I am familiar with the Alibow Imperial Strength, but I am looking for some other options with fiberglass and laminated to compare. I love the price of the Imperial Strength but am willing to spend a little more for laminated too. I also am hoping shipping can be within a month...? It would be a gift. If not then so be it, quality over timing I suppose. :) I understand if this is an odd request, and any response of yours is appreciated. I know you must be busy. Thank you. 🏹

At such low draw weight the siyahs have no advantage. I though the advantage starts kicking in at 80 pounds. Why not get a regular recurve wth no hand shock???
@ArminHirmer6 жыл бұрын
you can feel it with 50# already, of course usually from 80# it is the real deal.
@jaytsang11616 жыл бұрын
If the advantage of the siyahs dont kick in at about 80 pounds then anything less like a 40 pound bow with those siyahs is a waste, is that corect. The siyahs add weight to the limb which is a disadvantage
@jaytsang11616 жыл бұрын
What draw weight would the siyah have advantage? Light draw weight would be a disadvantage. Is it true you need 80 pounds for the advantage to kick in
@ArminHirmer6 жыл бұрын
yes they say around 80# but you can feel it already with 50#
@jaytsang11616 жыл бұрын
You should do a youtube video where you compare the performance of bows at different draw weights with the siyahs and without them and see at which draw weight there is an advantage to test the 80 pound myth

The only thing I know about manchu bows is what I have seen from you videos. A question. Is the katra not used with the manchu style bow? It didn't look like you used it when comparing these bows.
@Archer-op9cp7 жыл бұрын
No, sir. Manchu archery use a high grip, in order to reduce to minimum the interaction with the bow. A sort of natural anti-khatra. If you twist your manchu bow, specially side-forward, you are risking to unstrung the bow
@christophersammut7 жыл бұрын
yep, correct, katra simply doesn't happen with this bow, your wrist refuses to move forward, on another note, the kick you get with the YZDW gives you a great feeling of power, kind of... replaces the need for katra.
@terrijones55947 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that information about Manchu bows. I didn't realize that was a possibility.
@vladhanev59576 жыл бұрын
But instead try not let the bow move at all. The Manchu bow is slow and draws very far, so the arrow travels much longer before it leaves the string. With khatra you can hardly shoot it with accuracy.
@MrRourk6 жыл бұрын
If you could only have 1; Manchu or Korean?
@assaultspoon49255 жыл бұрын
Korean is shorter and stores easier and is better for distance shooting with lighter arrows. I guess Korean barely wins out for me Still, I cant deny the allure of shooting a Manchu bow with heavy arrows.

As usual, a great video. I didn't understand two things, probably because of my bad English. First, why, if an arrow costs 17 dollars 12 arrows cost 450 dollars? Shouldn't they cost 194 bucks? Second, this kind of bows are ambidextrous??
@anbudrew7 жыл бұрын
I guess the comparison was not so “unfair” after all.
@tigerfan73496 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the yzdw bow is “historically correct”. If you look at the old pictures the bows aren’t that rigid, especially when they’re drawn. Some looked like Qing Dragon with smooth curves
@tigerfan73496 жыл бұрын
Also I believe the way the bow bends affect the arrow speed. I think the more rigidly it bends(for example yzdw), the less arrow speed it has.(my observation)

No personal criticism from me. I think it was very educational to see the difference in someone used to shooting the bow and the owner who had not shot with it. Was very beneficial as it makes me more aware of how I can sense when I myself improve my release. What to be aware of when having seen someone else do it better, and maybe someone at the very first draws.
