I will have to check out this DayZ tools program you mentioned. I do enjoy your very informative vids on the statistics of the game. But I am impatient, and curious about other aspects of the game, and could be waiting a while to find out things such as the stats on different animals. For the bit about the plate carrier, it’s been tested that the pouches AND pistol holster (with a pistol or without it) absorb damage before the plate carrier does. So in theory your pouches and pistol holster can tank a few bullets before becoming ruined and then the rounds hitting the plate carrier itself. Pretty neat!

Yep, plate carriers are OP as hell. Always wear one, just carry less for the stam hit you take. It’s totally worth it. Being able to survive the first shot is very helpful.

I really like the Smersh vest due to its practically with weight and inventory space but I turn down a combat vest unless I find mag pouches seeing it doesn’t have inventory without them and I rarely find enemies seeing how the server I’m on has a lot of friendlies.

I personally own a Smersh Vest Set up for SVD and its pretty reliable and same goes for the UK Assault Vest Hi Cap But No Protection and Nice vid Btw

Tier1 helmets (all armour really) should only give -50% impact reduction for the HP percentage of the bullet damage, and any further HP dmg should be added WITHOUT the -multiplier. Idk if this is how it Does work, but it’s how it Should be for non-bulletproofed gear especially. So for example a 24dmg low-caliber round would take -50%impact for 17/24dmg pts. And the remainder of 7dmg would go through at 100% effectiveness.

7:42 while I don’t think it would be quite as good as a plate carrier stab vests are actually pretty resistant as they have to be stronger than some bullet resistant vests because with bullets they only need to reduce the impact whereas with knives they have to stop it getting through entirely I know it’s not the best explanation and it’s still a bit Illogical in game but I wouldn’t say it’s entirely inaccurate is all. (Oh and btw when I said some bullet resistant vests I was referring to soft armour as obviously hard armour like the plate carrier would be significantly better)

Well you are correct but wrong on one part and that is most helmets have fire geo meaning you can set how a item interacts with projectiles meaning it doesn't matter if you set the hit points to 1million for the hockey helmet the bullet will still go through the helmet this is all based on rvmats this can be found in data/penetration and all helmets use different and similar rvmats this Asli goes for the face shield visor this will stop some lower caliber bullets

btw I think if a shot brings the armor to state = ruined, all the damage of said shot/projectile is not counted towards the armor, but towards the player, as if he had no armor

Does the dmg reduction %'s differ based on an ammo's penetration value? What about the distance the round was shot at you from (thus it's airspeed velocity)? I had both a plate carrier and tactical helmet on and got 1-shot by .308 from a mosin ~100m away. .308 is 110 headshot damage, and should have been reduced to 55 dmg total by the tactical helmet (if I was headshot), so how did I get 1-shot killed? (yes I did have full HP).

Just killed one with 2 shots by a .308 M417.. One in the chest, one in the head. Vest, Jacket, Helmet and mask completely ruined. Yes, helmets do help. If the enemy doesn't have a high end gun 😅 (He shot my plate carrier 5 times with 5.45x39, only damaging it.) I lost half my health but was not bleeding.

Thank you for the video, but aside from a couple of the helmets listed, no one cares or worries about base game values of items in the vanilla game. DayZ today is nearly entirely about the modded scene and this video (or perhaps a follow-up video) would be best served focusing on the community standard of modded helmets today (SOBR/pub-g style/etc).

Hey was wondering if you could clear this up. Do diffirent helmets cover diffirent parts of your face? For example a combat helmet does not visually cover your jaw while a motorcycle helmet does. I'm new to the game but I mowed down a fully geared guy in plate carrier literally in 0.5 sec with KA-M. When I put his vest on, my stamina bar went to almost zero. Is the trade-off for stamina and slots really worth it? I might have gotten lucky but I felt this armor didn't help the guy at all.
