Hi, I am new to green laning - maybe a simple question but why goggles rather then a visor?

Visors are ok in winter, well they are ok anytime I guess but in summer they are too warm, it's much cooler in goggles. Also when racing you are breathing very heavily, mx/enduro is one of the toughest sports in the world so a visor would soon mist up, and If following someone on a stony course the roost would crask the visor in no time I reckon. I do ride in a helmet with a visor but just for gentle laning or in winter. With all of these things if you're not sure what to do look what the pros are using/doing, always a good starting point from a beginners point of view 👍

Mate have you tried contact lens? They are life changing for offroad. If you have tried and didn't like them, there is a new technology that makes dailies ultra thin... You forget you have them!

I tried them but didn’t like faffing about in the morning etc - I think I am probably someone who would benefit from laser surgery - but issue generally still the same in wet weather, the Beacon rally last year everyone was riding with no goggles at all because it was that wet. Wet weather gent isn’t a problem, it’s just when racing

@@twowheeledadventuresuk2739 I guess each person is different but glasses for me were a pain with constant fogging ... Nothing worked when wet and minimal physical exertion would fog them... I needed constant high speed to clear which is not always possible... Have to admit I never tried riding without goggles with the lens on ... Eye surgery isn't ok for everyone since they need a few years of stable glass prescriptions... I know a few people that did it and later on still needed glasses. Cheers :)

@@jjjjrrr678 I have heard of people getting dirt under their contacts and contacts moving etc during races - it certainly isn't an easy problem to solve, hence I keep searching for workable solutions 👌

@@twowheeledadventuresuk2739 oh yeah dirt in your eyes with lens is a pain, so a no go. My other problem was eyes drying up making vision foggy (riding dirt bikes tends to make you not want to blink 🤣) but this seems to have been fixed by this new lens tech. Other solution I have seen is some prescription goggle inserts but damn they are ugly 🤣. I will try armour vision as well, even if you wipe your goggles less it's a win since your own gloves eventually saturate as well. 👍

@@jjjjrrr678 problem with the inserts is if you take your goggles off you’re blind, so when you stop you need to get ya glasses out anyway 🤷♂️🤘

Doesn’t washing up liquid have the same effect of dispersing water? I could be wrong but I seem to remember reading that somewhere. 👍

Tried that mate, tried lashing of rainx, but doesn't do much, and if you're in the piss pouring rain and constantly wiping your goggles it just comes off fairly quickly. Most people Ive spoken to from the mx world really seem to rate them. Can but try something, I can't stick with the status quo !
