The video is making a comparison between the mechanics in this game and the souls games, so that people who are more familiar with the souls game mechanics that are not Armored Core vets can have a easier time understanding. I think this is a effective and fair explanation. Also on a side note, while those mechanics are older than souls games, I'm really not sure that said mechanics were created before Miyazaki/1974. One More Level and FromSoftware: *"Ayo, should we do a collab?"* Edit: damn, there's a surprisingly lot of chatter here, so let me clear some facts up: 1st) The release date of Titanfall 2, according to Respawn themselves, was their choice, NOT EA. Back when the release date was announced, BF1's release date was well before its final date. When BF1 got delayed, Respawn chose not to delay their game, having confidence that their game would sell better. 2nd) When EA acquired Respawn after TF|2 bombed, Respawn was still allowed full creative freedom. In fact, when the dev team showed off Apex Legends, around the time BR games were starting to take off, EA told them, "Cool, but...what about Titanfall 3? Where's that?" It was Respawn's choice to make Apex Legends, and it took them convincing EA to let them release it into the market. 3rd) Respawn has, numerous times, claimed to love Titanfall, but so far, the latest action they took with the franchise was to remove TF|1 off of digital stores in light of the DDOS attacks back in 2021. The only other things they've done were use the games as free content additions for Apex Legends for weapons, maps, and cosmetics. So no, EA did not kill Titanfall; Respawn did. They had WAY too much pride with being the devs that created Medal of Honor and Call of Duty in the past, and their egos forced them to abandon their flagship games when they failed to sell to the impossible numbers they were begging for. Meanwhile, One More Level has taken the success of Ghostrunner, a game that plays VERY similarly and rewardingly as Titanfall, and decided to make a sequel (coming out Oct. 26th, btw) and FromSoftware are now releasing a badass mech shooter. If they were to do a collab similar to Titanfall, I'd buy that shit in an instant over ANYTHING Has-Spawn will ever push out.

The mechs actually aren't that big in the grand scheme of things, only standing about 10m tall. For reference, that's literally half the size of a modern air superiority fighter like the F-22A Raptor.

Yeah, ACs in the series have mostly remained in the 10m range, usually about half the size of a Gundam. Except the tinybois from V, they're only five meters tall. Not much of a giant robot, but ACV wasn't much of a good game, so it tracks.

I’m happy that you got a see a franchise you love brought back in a major way. I’ve never been into the AC games, but I respect devoted fanbases, especially when they’re smaller in size because it just means the love is that much stronger. FromSoftware deserves praise for releasing a polished throwback to the mecha titles of yesteryear. The success of a game like this along with Baldur’s Gate III should serve as a lesson to the industry; passion should be rewarded and quality expected.

Agreed. As an elete Storm Team member this kind of game is very intriguing. I enjoyed AC2 on PS2 somewhat, but this looks like a really good expansion on the original concept and themes of that game. The large set peices would be right at home in a next gen EDF game for certain. Also as a general inquiry, are you guys annoyed off that Japan got EDF 2SP, 3SP and 4SP all with additional content on Switch, and those versions of the game haven't been translated? I got to play EDF 2.1 on Vita but now the Switch port has 4 player online co-op, and a new class. (And 1080p). World brothers is alright, but the real games are not being given a chance on Switch and I really want to play EDF 3.

@roymatzem Its basically just slower paced armored core without jet boosting and greater customization. And each part of your "hound" as they are called have independant health bars so you have to destroy the cockpit to get a kill. Ran off the same engine as armored core 4 and even shared assets.

Fromsoft have become the only game developer who's titles I actually pre order. Ever since I got introduced to their games with Bloodborne, every title has been a hit with me. Proper games that are fully playable at launch and are optimized well. This should be a clear industry standard and it's insane that it isn't but I know I can always count on Fromsoft to deliver a quality game. Now this will be my first Armored Core experience and MAN I'm waiting with anticipation for midnight so I can jump into it.

Glad its optimized well on PC and I have the same GPU. Was worried about AC6 PC performance especially with ER's PC stutter so what a relief knowing there are no frame drops and also no shader comp stutters! Day 1 buy! Blizzard should take note of the FREE customized options before thinking of nickle & dime you for half the price of a full AAA game for just a lame skin!!! That said just imagine it even gets VR support!

I remember playing one of the ps1 games when I was a child on vacation. Had a pvp multiplayer that I played my brothers in and had a genuine blast. Also played Daemon X Machina, which was developed by the same people who made the Armored Core games. So, while I may be relatively new and ignorant to the series, I have to say I'm very excited for the games release

Now if somebody finds the secret parts... Also, I think Yong would benefit if he looks at the older Armored Core games when it comes to the lock-on. Armored Core emulates the feeling of relying on a computerized targeting system with its lock-on so it's not going to be a one-and-done type of lock-on like the Souls games have. You have a "searching" reticle that you always see, and then your FCS (Fire Control System) dictates how this reticle acts (size, shape, lock speed), and how your AC locks onto a target that enters this circle. The hard lock-on only happens when the target enters the optimal spot and range that your weapon and FCS combined can handle in tandem. Slow FCS cannot lock-on as fast, but they often have specs like wider reticles to catch the target easier. Faster FCS can do the hard lock-on faster (good for missiles and such), but they often come with smaller reticles to simulate that they are meant for aiming at further ranges. It seems that in AC6 they "hid" the boundary box of the reticles, but you can tell that it's still kinda there if you look at Yong's gameplay. His reticle (big circle) can auto-point at targets within a certain sized square centered at the middle of his screen. When the target flies off to either the far left or right of his ultra-wide screen, the reticle drops the target and his lock-on fails. If it is still similar to old AC games, there are going to be FCS that have the "Wide" spec where this invisible box is rectangular and instead covers a horizontally wider area.

Hell ya, that online war was really fun. Had a lot of fun as a Commander mech and spotting for my buddy in his heavy duty artillery mech, of which he was WELL practiced at and could level enemy bases and squads from across the map. And the mech building in CH was pretty unique and awesome as well. Made and saw some crazy designs.

I’m never played an AC game before, but have been following what people are saying about this one. I’ve got to say, I sure wish I had the spare money to buy it right now 😢. It looks awesome! The movement and traversal remind me a bit of Doom Eternal, which is some of the most fun I’ve had in any game. Customization and experimenting with builds and load outs? Heck yeah! One of my favorite things to do in games. Definitely will eventually get this game.
