@@brittig8983 Yeah, once people get over it not having analog support and get used to the shoulder buttons being used for panning up and down. I personally like that control scheme, but I'm a damn dinosaur who gave up RE because of tank controls not being a thing anymore. The first few ACs are my favorite, especially MoA, but new players may have a bit of a rough time adjusting to those. Worth it if they do though. Especially if you have a friend to 1v1. Also, MoA let's you make your own Arena with AI ACs and tweak their behavior. Kind of neat.

I remember games like Okami or Naruto 5 on the ps2 being some of the most beautiful games ever on 32mB of Ram. From soft games were never the best technically but they sure are artistically. They dont have a lot of polygons, or texture resolution, but the effects and art are masterfully crafted for an amazing visual show to sell the epicness of your little weak character defeating gods (with sometimes the same w/l rate you would expect in real life)

I'm keeping reasonable expectations though. I know some missions will be long. Some will be short. I'm hoping there will still be parts to be found in the world. I played every Armored Core game there was, I made so many different ACs, Energy based, Hybrids etc. Some missions were confusing but the overall game never disappointed.

Man the changes to energy weapons for 6 are wild to me. It doesn't eat energy at all, running on an overheat system (for the weapon, not your AC) instead. That's gonna make flying beam spam a lot more sustainable. Heck, boost itself doesn't cost energy anymore, only quick boosts, ascending and assault boost.

I may give it a go, there havent been many mech games i have liked with only the Zone of the Enders series coming to mind (which i love). Edit: i never gave armoured core a go before as i wasnt keen on the mech aesthetic in the past. I am now a fan of heavy industrial designs, although i still prefer mechs in the form of the orbital frames like Nephtis, Jehuty and Anubis in ZOE

My experience with either 4 or 5 (I don't remember which) was pretty bad. I remember being so hype to finally have an armored core game after spending way too many hours with the demo disk for the PS1 but the game was just such a grind to unlock bits for your mech youd have to like perfect a mission and use a certain build just to unlock the ability to buy a part with the ingame credits and then like youd need to grind those by farming another different mission and then you finally get it equipped but your motor isn't good enough so you need to do the same thing for the engine but now you're too heavy so you need to get better suspension and then and then and then It's like man I just wanna drive a big robot

Sounds like Armored Core 5. That was the one where the formula was drastically changed and became more online multiplayer, iterative upgrades, grinding oriented. AC4 also reduced the complexity of building your mech before then. You have to go back to AC3 on the PS2 to find an entry that retained the classic formula that its fans loved.

@@savagej4y241 I actually felt 4 introduced a new kind of complexity with quick boosting and also different armor/weapon damage types. So it balances out. It's still complex, just in a different way. And hasn't earning money to buy gear always been part of the Armored Core series? They allow us to sell parts back to the shop for the exact same price as we bought, so instead of trying to buy all the new parts in one go, we can always change it out bit-by-bit

There are actually 15 Armored Core games, not just five. Its what From used to be known for, before delving into and creating shit like Demon Souls and the rest of the Souls games.

yes, but most of them are just "standalone expansions" and then a couple of spin offs for portable. I expect them to just make DLCs now instead.

@danilooliveira6580 that would kinda suck unless they actually create DLC that's half the size of the base campaign or more. Those stand-alone games were still whole games unlike our modern expansions. Game mechanics were even added or removed. They definitely weren't simple expansions. That 1 game for ps portable was trash. We don't count that one lol

Omg.... Armored Core. So Nostalgic. I played this game so many times back on the regular Sony PlayStation. I believe they made one on the Sega Dreamcast as well. It was my all time fav mecha game. Compared to the others, this game was always fast and mobile. The controls were amazing and it just feels great being able to customize the mech the way you want it to be. For ex, I used to build a super lightweight mech with the fastest boosters. This means I couldn't equip heavy weapons so I went with a sword and rifle. That's it. No back guns to make myself light. What was fun about this build is using the boosters for even 1 second will gain you a lot of distance. yes, it will drain your energy really fast but you can just lightly pulse on the button and you would just zip across the map or instantly get behind the enemy. You could get so fast that the camera couldn't keep up with you at times. Then there is the mid range balance mech. I used energy saving boosters so you could fly for a very long time. Its not fast like the above build but by staying in the air, you have an edge when it comes to dodging while in the air. If you have recoil or a sword, you could stay up even longer just from using a grenade launchers recoil by firing it below you. I think I'll get this game. Its been so long.
