Just four months after buying it, I sold my Royal Enfield Himalayan. I liked the bike a lot and still do, so why sell it? I address that and what bike I got instead in this video.

I deliberately choose the Himilayan for its slow pace, saftey reasons and comfort. When i took the interceptor for a test ride almost everyone where racing with me and i too kept pushing and personally thats not how i want to travel, trying to be the fastest on the road is not the happiest way to travel, its exciting but not safe. I am ok with just having my own pace.
@Ride_XP
@Ride_XP 2 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly! It's really about finding your pace and the bike to go with it. So much pressure to be fast in many groups, it's really overrated.

I do not consider the Interceptor fast. I rarely ride more than 65 mph. But I also like the Himalayan. What I DON'T like is crotch rockets, race bikes for the street. The street in NOT the place to race. If you want to race, fine. DO IT ON A TRACK.

Since last 50 years till 2010 Bullet was the fastest machine on road, that Dosen't mean it will always go on racing on road and the same applicable to interseptor Be self contended if you know and everybody knows tht you are powerful nothing to prove, that's the lions lifestyle. Im riding bullet then Himalayan then interseptor for last 38 years Just look on the other side and ignore, when someone is challenging you

Always ride at your own pace. I have a Kawasaki Z650 and I have been for only one Kawasaki group ride and will never go for another one. Those guys just rode at speeds of 200+ kph which is simply unsafe on any road much less Indian roads. So I ride with people who own much slower bikes as they ride at a pace I am comfortable with.

Interesting video thanks. I’ve sold my Himalayan after a year for similar reasons but unlike you I’ve gone for even less power with the new Classic 350. I wasn’t using the Himalayan’s off road ability at all so a more road focused bike is my ideal. I only want to bimble around the country lanes here in the north of the U.K. so the lack of power is not an issue for me. Enjoy your Interceptor, it’s an absolutely stunning bike!
@marukqs
@marukqs Жыл бұрын
I feel not safe on country lanes as 99% car drivers are ok, but 1% are idiots. When the truck is tailgating you on twisty roads on 100 km/h - it's scary. Sometimes I really need a power to escape dangerous drivers.

I’m literally in the same boat here. Being in the states, the Himalayan has to stick to more back roads with the higher highway speeds. I love the progress of building my Himalayan into a scrambler and it has plenty to ride two-up with my wife, but I’ve been eyeing the Interceptor as a more do it all for me. I’m also limited on garage space, but love the ease of maintenance on RE and the amount of things out there for them. I’m definitely a subscriber now 🤙

The Vstrom is a great bike, but it’s just not “me” if that makes sense. A British company called Cooperb Motorcycles made a bike they call the 650 Interlayan. IOt's a custom, much of the 650 Interceptor drive and frame, but with longer shocks, a larger gas tank that resembles the Himalayan, it's basically a Himalayan built with the taller frame and drive components of the larger twin cylinder engine. It wouldn't surprise me if they added the 865 big Bore Kit, S&S Camshaft, and the upgraded clutch. Hitchcock makes a cam & big bore kit, it takes rear wheel HP from about 40 to 64 and the torque from about 36 to 62. That's impressive.

What a great choice, I to went through the exact situation as you. I had a dual sport that could go anywhere but was a compromise on the pavement. So along came the interceptor 650, this bike will give you the most smiles per miles and it's capable of light off roading once set up. Your scrambler set up does not really need to be very expensive to start, you can always keeping adding on.Thus far for me I have changed tires, crash bars, improve front forks, windscreen, firmed up the rear shocks, luggage system, next comes skid plate and auxillary led lights. What is special about the int650 is that it's very smooth transitioning from idle to just off idle if you need to ride real slow like in tough spots. Learning how to ride slow is also important , with any bike really. Good luck , take care !

More off-road capabilities and still the power and great looks and comfort of a road bike. I just became a subscriber.

Greetings from South Africa! Thank you for another awesome video! Speed and power are all relative to the biker's needs. I compliment your honest feedback as to why you chose to go with a bigger and faster motorcycle, but it's funny that as I get older, I appreciate dependability and light weight, more than power and speed. Either way, a great choice of bike! I wish you many enjoyable & safe miles on your new machine!

Let me guess before I watch. More power. Started on a 250 Yam. Within a year I had a built Norton. One of the fastest around. A half dozen years of hooning no accidents no impoundments. Got a liter bike for my retirement hobby.

The feel of the machine from Royal Enfield is just awesome. U may not get that pace but it's torque will definitely put a smile on ur face.

Glad I found your video. I was undecided between the Scram, Himalayan and the Twin Cylinder. I will opt for the twin when I'm ready to purchase in the next few weeks. Great video and Happy New Year from Southern California, USA.

I just sold my BMW G310gs which I absolutely loved. It was a 2019, I had it two years and put over 20,000 miles on it. But I happened to ride my brother's Honda CB500X and I really liked that little bit of extra power and torque. And I don't plan taking it off road like I did the GS.

Great review on why you sold the Himalayan, the most honest on the net, you needed a bike that fit your style, and that’s a win! I just got a 2022 Himalayan, and in 2024, I plan on getting the newly equipped 650 Himalayan, although I do like some of the Royal Enfield line ups, I have a Harley Road King that takes care of my Highway needs, and the Himalayan is my more versatile fun toy. Enjoy the next adventure brother!

There’s a company called Tec. They made a cam that seems to really improve the highway performance of the Himalayan. It could be the answer for some owners. Nice choice on the Interceptor.

Good choice man. I've done the test ride with interceptor at Royal Enfield Malaysia. Sound, handling and braking, sweet like honey. More aggressive look and riding style will be continental GT, Cornering as smooth as river flow man. Good channel by the way.

I toured a lot of Indonesia (alongside and up mountain edges, through mud, beaches, and creeks) with just a vario 150. There's a englishman @c90adventures who has toured the world on just a honda c90z. The Himalayan looks great, however I've always wondered why city dwellers go for such big bikes when I and the rural locals never needed them.

Love your video and your reasons for riding. I’ve been riding for 20 plus years road and dirt. Just bought my dream bike a Yamaha T7, awesome bike, plenty of grunt, relaxed ride but it can really hustle if you want it to. Just want to mention one thing about the T7 for anyone considering…….it is tall, really tall. I’m 6 foot 1 and with the touring seat can only get the balls of my feet down, I can’t flat foot it. I really like that about it as you feel so dominant on the road and the suspension gets unfairly judged. It’s biased from factory for road riding with decent off-road capability, again I like that so I won’t be changing anything. Stay safe and enjoy 😊

I haven't owned or ridden a motorbike for over 20 years and the Himalayan does appeal to me, but like you say, there is a lack of power/torque and that is my biggest concern. I haven't decided if I will definitely buy a Himalayan and if I do, it won't be until 2023. I will also be in the Philippines this Christmas in Baguio City.

Here in the United States the problem with Royal Enfield is the same problem as Triumph, getting parts... When you stick to one of the major bike manufacturers (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley) you're gonna get your parts without a problem (generally), with RE and Triumph obtaining parts is going to make most avoid them.

Couldn't agree more. I'm 45 minutes from a yamaha dealer and almost 2 hours to a RE dealer which for me is also huge. BMW is 2 hours away, etc. For my needs I like the T7.

@@jsmith7013 The Tenere is a great bike, very much ready to tackle a long distance mixed surface adventure, a little bit pricey but worth it. I have the DR650, which I really love. You've chosen a great bike.

Himalayan is more popular abroad than it's in India. Indians prefer lighter ADV bikes like Hero XPulse 200 4V. I don't know if you have that bike in your country but it's a good bargain .

You and I are a lot alike, except I live in the U.S. I bought my first motorcycle at 13 years old, and learned how to ride in the dirt, but I always wanted to travel to see things. In the last 20 years my wife (who always rides on back with me) has traveled over 300,000 miles on motorcycles and most of the time camped out along the way. The Interceptor 650 is a good looking motorcycle and I hope you enjoy it. Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

I am totally ignorant about motorbikes but that changed when I happened to stumble on youtube a lady biker. The name of the lady I am talking is Itchy Boots channel. She rode her Royal Enfield starting from India to some parts of Asia, continued to middle east to Iran, to Russia and central Asia and other places. You might like to check her channel and might like to travel around the world with your new bike too.
