4500km on a pre-production RE, the high naked mountains of the Himalayas, 600+ episodes, a marriage party, camels, elephants, all the chai you can drink, delicious food, stunning architecture, lovely people and two mirrors intact. Congrats Noraly on another epic adventure 🥰

Looking back at India it has been a wonderful journey. Desert , mountains , monkeys, elephants, camels, temples, forts , palaces. Blue, pink , tan cities and just a great assortment of beautiful people being people. Wonderful food and probably the best Chi tea you can imagine I did not realize how diverse India was , so thanks for taking us along and sharing your perspective.

I'm sure they've received a lot of positive feedback and great press from their association with you and your 1.89 million subscribers. Your fans all await your return to Africa. We also wonder if your experience with the more powerful Himalayan might make you ditch your Honda. Stay tuned.

As a long time Ford motor company dealership mechanic, I rarely buy new engines, especially water cooled from air cooled. 15 HP is not enough for reliability, and you proved reliability in the 411. This is a channel of your life , and people don't get bored of it. I've enjoyed the last 4 weeks of watching on my recovery of an injury, and it's been an eye opener seeing your travels. Thank you
@skippynj1979
@skippynj1979 Жыл бұрын
For me personally.. going water cooled is a big deal.. adventure riding.. very slow in hot climate and high altitudes those air-cooled thumpers can get lightning hot... at almost 200lbs and 50lbs of gear... all the power I can get is needed especially in the USA we have to travel highways to get to our "adventure". That was the biggest complaint of the 411. The extra OD gear is a big deal now too. Cheers and heal well and hopefully a speedy recovery.
@JohnDavis-ol7qg
@JohnDavis-ol7qg Жыл бұрын
@@skippynj1979 only problem I see , which we had in the 1.5 liter Ford engine, was water getting into the combustion chamber. With only 15hp gain, it was not worth the chance on buying a not tested engine and the 411 in which Noraly couldn't break it
@estrafalario5612
@estrafalario5612 11 ай бұрын
@JohnDavis-ol7qg I don't think she's BUYING the bike. I guess Royal Enfield gave it to her to have feedback and mutual promotion, what makes a lot of sense, also because she already did big trips around India and other asian countries with the previous model (Itchy, Royal Enfield and bike trips through India come together easily). Referring to the 15 HP extra power...it depends a lot on what you want to do with what vehicle. In my car, 15HP wouldn't make a big change. In my 125cc motorbike (13HP😂) it won't either AS LONG AS I stay in the city, where max speed is 90-100kmh, but would be fantastic in the road. For many people (like me) who were considering the previous Himalayan, not being able to overtake trucks in the highway is a major problem that 15HP extra solves. So I'm waiting a little bit and will see how reliable is the new model, because the rest looks 👌

I spent 5 years in East Africa, I rode through Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia. I used to ride Yamaha trr 250. Never ever met Big GS, nor KTM of any sort. Bikes, which I met there, were BMW 650 GS Dakar, and one American guy rode Yamaha 450 somewhere in Kenya. The biggest bike I saw as far as I remember, that time 15 years ago, was Africa Twin 750 in Mombasa. Big bikes are being ridden in Europe and USA mainly on weekends.

Bro its simple if you pay less the product you get will be with some cost cutting and Compromise. The Typical Western Vloggers would come stay in the most dirt cheap Locality and then would complain about local infrastructure Hygeine. And also the Audience doesn't Realize there is a reason why the Hotel prices are low in that area...and start generalizing India as a whole. The Western Vloggers also know that it will give them viewrship as most people honestly watch India Vlogs to see the Poverty and struggle , As they have seen in Hollywood Movies and Series where as soon as India is mentioned a Default BROWN & DIRT Filter is Appplied which is totally out of touch with Reality. I Still Remember the Hollywood Movie where they showed Monkey Meat being served in RAJASTHAN 😂😂😂😂 Literally the Most VEGETARIAN state in India which shows how much Research they do in West about a Place.

The problem with the screen flicker is that RE has used an OLED panel which has a PWM rate. Basically all oleds have this pwm frequency which causes this flickering on phones and also televisions. Now the naked eye cant spot this but the camera will definitely. Some people are also very sensitive to this pwm flicker and it can cause eye strain ,headaches and fatigue when you look at it for long time. I am an lcd screen supporter and dont like these oled screens with such flicker. Its really good that you raised this issue Noraly 👏👏

The problem with the refresh rates on OLED displays is that when you bounce or move your head fast you get the “jello” effect. It’s a common problem and realistically is only resolved by having very fast refresh rates (240Hz for example).

I began watching your adventures a few months ago and have been inspired. I will be finishing a motorcycle trip I started over thirty years ago but didn't finish as the bike burned up in the mountains just south of Dubrovnik in what was then Yugoslavia. I will be riding a Royal Enfield. Will pick it up in England.This time I will make it to Athens. Good luck on you're adventures. You handle the traveling alone by motorcycle quite well. I found it isolating, languages, etc. Of course there was no internet or social media to keep in touch. The pictures from those trips are in the scrapbook and framed on walls. Time to finish the trip. It wasn't the only trip. I traveled thousands of miles over many months crisscrossing Europe from the Grampian Mountains of Northern Scotland almost to the Russian border (at the hight of the cold war I might add. Really interesting) but on the run to Athens the bike burned up. It was a 650 Yamaha Great bike. My fault the electrical system burned up. Rode it too hard and the magneto burned everthing up. I know the exact spot where the bike gave up and will return there and take a then and now photo. Take care. Best of luck.

The electronics scare me. If the ecm goes out, it is over. That is the biggest fear I have with all these machines we have now. Once the electronic components start going, then it is anybody’s guess. Another thing is connectivity. What if someone hacked into their electronic system? I firmly believe that they can shut vehicles down remotely and if someone finds their way in there, guess what? Just saying. It looks like a great bike and royal enfield is listening to their consumers. I hope they revive their larger bullet bikes. There is a rumor that the 650 is going to find its way onto a bullet. If you make some suspension upgrades, then you have another adventure bike. Yes they are heavy, but noralee hit the nail on the head, they make them rugged. This is why they are so well loved.

Noraly, you are the perfect person to do this review as you are a rider first and foremost and are not going to be clouded by all the hype surrounding the latest bikes ie, performance stats or be worried about the wheelbase being 3mm shorter than last years model etc, etc....You just ride! and all the relavent things that most riders want to know about, ie, comfort levels, power, suspension, luggage carrying capacity, navigation, and all that, you give us, along with some stunning views and opening up a window on a world that most of us will not have the chance to see otherwise. I was interested in the old Himalayan but with this new one, I could be seriously tempted!

Hi Noraly, It was just over three months in India and for me, who did not know the country, it was an open encyclopedia thanks to your excellent videos, I had the opportunity to get to know places, people, animals, customs, foods and a country unique in its characteristics... Thank you, thank you very much for giving me that opportunity and for doing it in such a professional way... Without a doubt, Royal Enfield will be very satisfied with your very objective, technical and detailed summary from your point of view as a user of the new model. My motorcycle is a BMW, since in Brazil Royal Enfield has practically no market share, something that will most likely change in the near future. Good return to Africa and to the punished but noble Honda ALASKA, which I hope can continue your adventure on that great continent with complicated countries that you will have to cross. Let this absence on your part be brief, but take all the time necessary to return 100% with energy to face that adventure again! TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!!!

The flickering is a normal thing... need to find the display hertz and change the Shutter Speed until you find the match. Now, also you could use a ND filter to fix the problem. In fact the problem in not on the bike display and yes the camera type you are using if you can not adjust the S Speed. Also, make sure that the display of the bike is the same on hertz (NTSC for USA Electricity or PAL-M for Europe) The camera must much the NTSC format or PAL of you will never get the problem fixed. 50Hz the flickering effect goes unnoticed by the human eye - the key word being human. The camera’s eye (its sensor) can still see this flicker. If you synchronize your camera to the electrical frequency of the lighting, you are basically telling your camera to only take pictures of the ON portion of each cycle within the frequency. So how do we do achieve synchronization? There are two options: 1. If your camera has this option, simply match your camera’s frequency with the electrical frequency of your environment. 2. You can sync your shutter speed to the electrical frequency of your environment. One more thing SUPER important! SHUTTER ANGLE, always set your Shutter Angle double the frame rate (if you are filming at 50fps your shutter angle should always be 100, SUPER important.

Ms Noraly, thank you for this excellent rider review. So many bike reviews are technical, not easy to decipher. I understood all of your bike review and your cinematic concerns and wish to compliment your clean, clear communication skills. This new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 has much more to wish for than the older, smaller bike, especially for bigger guys. Thank you for sharing this review and your empathetic concerns for those who are less bike-technical. I have watched you, subscribed early, since your initial India and journey back to the Netherlands. I too am a long time biker, experienced with Honda and Harley Davidsons. I am considering the purchase of a lighter, double duty, tarmac/dirt road, bike. I have considered the Yamaha, the Honda and now, this bigger REH 452, thanks to you. I too have traveled the globe, learned to speak multiple languages, learned that so many cultures and people can be kind and generous…precisely as you continue to present the world’s average, normal people. Thanks again, from East Tennessee, USA.

Your camera (most likely) has an anti flicker feature setting. This changes the capture timing to match the timing of displays, like a TV or computer monitor or a florescent light, as different parts of the world time these things differently. So when you have an issue like you do with the dashboard of this moto, try the other setting to see if it syncs up with the display. This is from the GoPro Hero9 manual page 93- Setting Your Connections + Preferences- Anti-Flicker Choose the regional frame rate for recording and playback on a TV. Set 60Hz (NTSC) for North America. Try 50Hz (PAL) if you’re outside of North America. The right format for your region will help prevent flicker on a TV/HDTV when you play back video that was recorded indoors.
@ItchyBoots
@ItchyBoots Жыл бұрын
Anti-flicker is about frame rate, whereas the problem lies with the shutter speed ;) I tried to explain that in the video haha but maybe it’s too technical. You can’t fix this problem in camera settings unfortunately (without over or underexpose your footage)
@rikupasanen

@@ItchyBoots ND filter could do the trick? This would force the camera to adjust the shutter speed slower in brighter days.
@Denise-qj1ev

@@ItchyBootsit might have to do with the backlight of the screen. It pulses to simulate different brightness levels, and it might even change dynamically to adjust for ambient light levels. If the display is set to maximum brightness and any auto-dimming is turned off, then it might be easier to film it.
@bayard1332
@bayard1332 Жыл бұрын
Anti flicker is about syncing with the frequency of the local power grid which also should sync the cameras exposure to the frame draw rate of TVs and monitors. If you are not syncing this setting to the local country you are in then you will at times, depending on location, have flicker... It's a setting -far to few- youtube vloggers know about, I see tons of flickering video out there... I wish you were still with the bike so you could try both 50hz and 60hz settings to see if one solves the issue.... I'm not trying to argue, just trying to offer a bit of tech help...
@bayard1332
@bayard1332 Жыл бұрын
I noticed the problem was appearing in the bright sunlight, but not in the shade, in the bright sun the camera is going to use a very short shutter open duration, thus not keeping it open long enough for the gauge to draw the image completely. So, as commenter just above suggested, if the anti flicker setting doesn't solve it then set the anti flicker to the country's power grid and then try using a neutral density filter and if it helps put the camera in semi auto exposure to keep the long shutter opening and then choose the neutral density filter that keeps the F stop in a good place. As a side note, thank you so much for enriching my life with some 600+ epic videos. Cheers.
