Great review of basic. Your experience was just like mine at Ft Jackson. Two things I would add is, just know everybody will get smoked at least 3 times a day. Usually after eating and before bed everyday accept on Saturday and Sundays. On the weekends you will get maybe 1 big smoke section or a few solo or battle buddy smokings . Also your whole squad will get disciplined for the smallest things regardless of who did it. One example is we lost our phone call because out APG has his towel over his shoulder after out boot cleaning/ drill sergeant sit down. A lot of people cried and blamed him but we later found out how things worked on the last day of our final ruck March when the drill sergeants actually talk to use about life and the real army. They were trying to teach use to win, lose, or draw as a team. The drill sergeants will usually pick some random persons to blame it on just to see how the team or squad will handle the situation. Basic training is 25% physical 75% mental. What made basic easy for me was the fact that I’m a black man from the south with a dad that had already called me every name in the book, so anything the drill sergeants would say to me, wasn’t even close to what my pops would say or actually do. In basic I was that soldier that when the drill sergeants needed something done, I would be picked first because they know it would be done right.

Man.....once I got in that gas chamber, it wasn’t all bad at first but....I started freaking out, hyperventilating and it took me like 4 minutes to calm down and recompose myself, so by the time we were out, everybody was laughing at what happened with me. But I didn’t feel no type of way cuz I thought it was funny myself which then led to my 1SG and another DS talking about me to the whole company 😂 I will never forget that day 😂

@Egypt Ghee lol! Well I ended up graduating in July. Whatever you do, don’t get injured at basic training. I was there for 5 months instead of 2 😅😅 and I reported to my first ever duty Station on October 6th! It’s my first time ever living away from home. So far, so good. everyone has their own ship dates. if you're in college you can pick whenever you want to go. just means you can't be in college for at least one semester that you're in basic

lol well with a ruck March you can only go at stopping points and that would be in the woods if there is no portables and you would be able to use the latrine whenever you have too

So there is a new PT Test that is coming where the requirements vary based on your MOS. Google your MOS pt requirement but for the old PT test , the minimum for females was 19.

A pixie cut should be fine but I wore cornrows , you also can look up on google army regulation for hair and it will tell you all the things that are allowed with the cuts

It's not real bullets. It's a imitation of live fire. I didn't realize it until I graduated BCT. They did away with the real bullets years ago because actually got shot.
