25:06 actually, Paul, fun fact: that cover of "Fly me to the moon" was made for the action beat-em-up game "Bayonetta", in which you control a sexy witch with guns on her feet and clothes made of her hair, the same hair she uses to do demon powers (and, you guessed it, hair that recedes to reveal more skin when those powers are in use.) So yeah, an appropriately energetic source to reference here.

The video has 23 million views currently, so its a relatively popular song, and i could not imagine a more perfect song for the intro to an animation about obtaining the hot anime girls in area 51, one heavy literally has a sign with an image on it that shows the absolute territory. Also calling evangelion a highly praised anime is one hell of an understatement, its pretty much legendary in the anime community, exactly why i dont know since i havent watched it yet.

I love how Paul starts by dissecting the lyrics to Ken Ashcorp's "Absolute Territory." There's just something magical in this weird intersection of cultures that can only occur on the platform of information transfer that is the internet. Auh, it fucking kills me, Paul theorizing about bombings on the Gaza Strip when the furry musician is just calling thighs hot. (Side note: I've long since come to some sort of peace with the existence of furries. They've been grossly misrepresented by bad apples amplified by bad (click-driven) press, and most of them, from what I understand, are just harmless and dedicated folks. ...not that you have to like furries in order to think that Ken Ashcorp's music fucking rocks, but I felt it needed to be said.)

Bizarre as fuck universe 3. Excellent gameplay And number 4. *The god-tier music.* The BLU Heavy on the train uses moves from a character called Jack'O, whose main mechanic is using her minions to play keepaway. Context on the song used for the opening: The song that was used (Ken Ashcorp - Absolute Territory) references the Japanese slang "Zettai Ryouiki", which translates to, well, Absolute Territory. It refers to the gap in the middle of the socks and the skirt that shows bare skin (It is also Graded E to A, E being normal high-cut socks and A being knee-high socks). They also coined a "golden ratio" of 4:1:2.5 (4 being the skirt length, 1 being the gap between skirt and sock, and 2.5 being the length of the knee socks above the knee joint) Don't know why it references Gaza Strip but yeah. Also Ken Ashcorp sings in English, so its not a translation at all.

21:35 I would have to disagree. My understanding of the Space Race is that it was little more than a horribly expensive dick measuring contest. Whoever could get into space first would glorify their side, in the interest of some sort of ideological victory. In essence, getting to the Moon first was the greatest power move they could pull on the other. Except, that's all there is to it. Once the U.S got to the Moon, they had taken victory and there was no further reason for anyone to throw money away. The method had been discovered, the possibility had been discovered, the glory had been stolen, what is there to gain? Yes, everyone else could throw more money at a space program to put a flag on the Moon, but that money could be put towards something that actually has merit, like research, or production, or anything other than a dick measuring contest that you've already lost. I'd have to disagree a bit that it was all a stupid rat race. While I do agree that in the end, setting foot on the Moon was more of an ideological/philosophical victory of US over USSR/Man over Nature and Space instead of giving us something substantial, the process of doing it gave us a ton of innovations and stuff that we likely take for granted. The Space Race just made sure that tech will march on and not remain stagnant, as each side will try to get the edge over the other. After all, some competition never hurts. Also, it gave us a ton of insight into Moon, it's climate, it's geography, so to say it's just a dick measuring contest is ignorant.
@notalive5479
@notalive5479 2 жыл бұрын
@@hajimeokajima Was the innovation valuable? Yes, innovation is always valuable. Was the effort commendable, and did it give insight into valuable technologies? Yes, it did. And of course, getting to the Moon just to see what it takes to get there is something I'm all for. However, the motivating factor, the competition, the intention to win an ideological victory, that part was almost completely pointless. That's why no one else has bothered getting up there, and that's the part I was making an argument about. The only valuable part of the space race was the work put into it, the goal itself had no real value.
@somebody7185
@somebody7185 2 жыл бұрын
It was certainly an ideological victory, but it was also a financial victory. The fact of the matter is that the USSR was never an economic powerhouse, and the idea was to trap them into a giant expenditure. There were certainly other factors, not least of which being continued support of a communist government, but the space race helped create a stagnant economy and led to the collapse of the Soviet union.

22:27 We really aren't giving the Super Soldier nearly enough cred: Yes, he did a lot of out-there things, before and after this scene, but right here he's casually producing sound while in the vacuum of space. The other feats were BENDING the rules to ridiculous levels, for sure, but this BROKE the rules and proceded to neither pay nor even apologise for it.

8:00 uncontrolled mutations, yes, but there are a few mutations that could theoretically be induced and controlled through specialized gene editing. Hell, even a youtuber was able to activate the gene necessary for his body to start producing lactase, and he eliminated his lactose intolerance for about a year before the effects faded. In addition, there's a type of protein produced for muscle fibers that is actually stronger than steel, even stronger than spider silk, so if someone were to identify and modify that gene or set of genes in particular, you could possibly end up with a Captain America scenario. Or make it so the person ends up breaking their own bones with their strength, that might also be a possibility. Also, iirc, Heavy actually has a master's degree in Russian literature, there is no reason he wouldn't be able to read.

by the way, the intro lyrics are 100% legit. it's how the whole song goes. here: "Absolute Territory" - Ken Ashcorp She's got a fetish for fine art A pair of knee-socks and an oversized sweatshirt Yeah, she goes right to my heart She comes a-knockin' with her stocking and I get hurt I get the feelin' I'm in deep Troubled waters, but they're only thigh-high This kind of girl don't get no sleep Don't wake your father, skip the starters, strap those garters up Oh, my, my Checkered pattern on your skirt I see you flauntin', see you tauntin', it's so sickenin' I can't resist the way you flirt I should be dead, but my heartbeat's quickenin' I get the feelin' less is more It's an excuse just to shake your little derrière That ratio, a perfect score A girl's status is measured by her denier Lie down, baby, arch your back now Maybe you can help me get what I want And curve your little spine and tell me that you're mine It's all about the game and what you flaunt Yeah, I know that there's no pleasing you When you know that you're not teasing me She's an absolute terror for absolute territory That's it, baby, take control You're so enticin', mesmerisin', don't know how to react You're gonna steal my very soul More manslaughter than the third impact, yeah I see you struttin' in that pleat Double-takin', yeah, I'm shakin' and you know it shows This kind of girl just can't be beat She whispers in my ear, "Take off your clothes" Lie down, baby, arch your back now Maybe you can help me get what I want And curve your little spine and tell me that you're mine It's all about the game and what you flaunt Yeah, I know that there's no pleasing you When you know that you're not teasing me She's an absolute terror for absolute territory

I just wanna say that that super soldier was clearly human capital. He was on his workout break while the base was under attack and the bosses did not go get him because he was entitled to his break. The lesson here: be a super jacked super soldier so your bosses are too afraid to tell you to do your job.

Fun fact, green eyes are seen as a genetic mutation, which appeared because Humans became more nocturnal at one point, or lived in low visibility areas. Also, blue and green eyed people see better in the dark than those with brown eyes, but because of this, those with lighter eyes are more sensitive to the light.

15:02 I looked it up the name of the Luchador move and it is called "hurricanada" invented by hernáda Ramirez. Which version of it I am not sure: there's standard, reverse, slingshot (the one on the arena ropes), and maybe one other but I am not sure. The spinning move we often see it with, I believe is a jazz dance move called "the neck wrap." That is the best I was able to figure out after spending 30 minutes looking it up. 18:50 I believe heavy is doing a Jack-O pose and buff engineer is doing a sol badguy reference from the game "guilty gear."
